Just to clarify, Pep signed Lewandowski in his second season (2014/15). It was Gotze who was signed before Pep took over in 2013. And I think Ferran Torres should be nowhere near this list at this moment irrespective of how much was spent on him. He hasn’t proven anything yet. Even Xabi Alonso will be a better pick than Torres
@Harvey White definitely his opinion but I would not still agree on that premise. As good is Torres looks, I haven’t seen enough yet. But as you said, it’s his opinion so I respect that.
Guardiola is the only manager who is accused of being a failure when he doesn't win the UCL ! E.g Fergie only won it twice and no one dare to question him .
Because Fergie won the most premier league titles even in Scotland where he stopped Celtic and Rangers from dominating which is more than anything that Pep could do. Also, Fergie didnt have an enormous budget everywhere he went. The likes of Jurgen Klopp and Hansi Flick are all better than him at the moment. One more reason why Pep won the premier league was Vincent Kompany. He failed to replace him last season now he is relaying Dias and Stones. I'm not saying he isn't a good manager but he is not as good as he was
@@stwx6220 "Fergie" bought Cantona, Ferdinand, Rooney etcetera So he wasn't playing with unknown players and winning trophies, He was managing superstars and Legends Like Gigs, Scholes, Cr7, Vidic but when Pep wins the Prem with a team whose best players are Kdb, Sterling, Laporte, Walker he is overrated 🙃 I like the double standards
Well people claim Jose is past it, but Pep only won the European Cup one year more recently than him. Hell, he only won it three years more recently than Fergie and he's been retired over seven years. I don't think Pep is overrated, but zero European Cups in 9.5 years whilst managing Barcelona, Bayern, and Man City for 8.5 of the years is pretty poor. Especially considering that those clubs have won three European Cups since 2011 under different managers.
Would be great if you looked at historic coaches too, so the likes of Bob Paisley, Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Sir Bobby Robson, Jose Villalonga etc
I have been trying to look, however an idea if you not done it if Catalunya became independent (big if) and for example Barcelona, Espanyol, Girona etc who would they play if a top league had to be formed as clubs like the above were not allowed to compete in the Spanish Leauge. Thiago left for such a low fee because a clause in his contract stated if he didn’t play a set amount of games in a season his release fee would drop to the lower figure.
Can you do a top 7 transfers of all time video and look at a transfer and see how effective the player was at the club and how much they cost for example ronaldo to Man U because of low price and the impact he had on the team and even the profit they made off the sale or like Rooney to Man U. I hope you make a video about this
Or even do a XI of players and there are so many players you could include like Buffon as GK and Ramos as CB, Marcelo as LB, Neymar (santos to barca) as LW
Wait, was Lewandowski really a Pep signing? Yes he came to Bayern, when Pep started at Bayern but from what I remember the contract negotiations started way before that.
Ferran is a bargain but dias should be put there as well he was expensive transfer at 68m but fully lived up to it already dubled his price on transfermarket equaling it to laports in just 2 mounths, transforming citys horible defence from last season in one of the best defensive lines and became true leader in defence and repleacing kompany in that role and is in city only few mounths and is only 23y old.
I do not know if Lewandowski transfer can be attributed to Guardiola. In the beginning Guardiola was not at all ecstatic about playing Lewy. Lewandowski coming to Bayern on a free transfer was more of a sly Bayern management move than Guardiola desperately wanting Lewandowski. Bayern has been dropping hints to Lewy for the last 2 years of his contract in Borussia. Even before it was known that Guardiola would come to Bayern.
Although coming in at an expensive 40M, I could have seen Ederson on this list. I think Ederson might be made straight from Pep's mind. If Pep had the build the perfect goalkeeper for his team, the result would probably be Ederson.
Pep is a great manager, but in the B level of great managers. He never won without a superclub budget. Bayern won before and after him. City won before him, and will after him. Barca won before him and after him, but at least you can say his Barca was significantly superior to the sides in the recent past or recent future of his arrival/departure. That was more than a decade ago though. Since then, he hasn't done anything another manager wouldn't have done with the same resources.
@One Indian boy true but I admire pep. He’s not the best manager itw but the football he plays is spectacular. Last season with David Silva the attacking display was class and I hope that Liverpool could play some of that or that we could see the old City sometime soon

I’m a city fan all the way but saying Terran tores is one of the best signing is the best is a stretch. Yes is he damn good but until he can prove him self on a long term consistent basis he is not one of the best signings
@cogamers84 yes, I do agree with that. However Torres has only been part of the Man City squad for like 5ish mounths. Ederson, Walker etc. have been there for a longer time. Thus proving there longer term worth. Tores hasn’t. I say give him more time so he can acually make that list
Title says best but they went on to be described as Pep's 7 greatest signings. Ferran Torres needs to do a whole lot more to earn such a tag, I feel. It's no coincidence 6/7 of them are multiple champions in their own right. We can allow the Lewandowski gaff because like you a lot of us can't praise him enough as a wonderful footballer
I like Torres, but it's way too soon to put him on the list, unless I've not understood the requirements correctly, I'd personally have Sanchez, Jesus or Xabi Alonso over him if you taking price into consideration
City need Sane now they are not scoring enough goals and he was a great creator, they would have picked up more points last season but Sane didn`t play much.
