Glacier National Park is amongst the most beautiful and rugged national park I've ever been too. Located in northern Montana and covering over 1 million acres, Glacier holds over 700 miles of trails and and abundance of wildlife. Moose, elk, beaver, grizzly, and black bear roam the landscape but mostly remain elusive to human presence. We were lucky enough to see a moose near a creek on the first day of the trip. After that we only saw signs of moose, elk, and bear with tracks and scat on the trail.
We started off at the Cut Bank trailhead and walked up the Atlanta creek trail to Atlantic Creek Camp and set up our tent in a flat spot; a two man MSR Hubba Hubba tent. Glacier seems to do a great job separating the sleeping area from the cooking and food storage area; we walked an esay 200 feet away from our tent to cook our meals. We threw a rope over a provided metal pole for our bear bag that night and had no issues.
The weather in mid October was perfect by my standards - a bit cold and snow up high in the mountains. It was enough to keep the crowds away and we didn't see anyone for the 3 days while we were out. We saw Medicine Grizzly Peak the next morning walking up to the triple divide pass. This is the area where rains drops into creeks that lead to either the Hudson, Pacific, or Atlantic depending on which side it falls on. Truly the heart of the continent from a water shed standpoint.
2 nights was enough to tempt me to come back next fall for a longer trip.

That is a really cool place. Thinking how far apart the three end points are from each other is mind blowing.

Even standing there it was tough to wrap my head around honestly. Getting water out of the Atlantic Creek was wild too because I kept thinking to myself "Okay this little bit of water I'm taking out will now never get to the Gulf of Mexico."
