For everyone struggling with the "7-zip" part. 7-zip is a software which you will need to install and once installed put it onto your desktop, run as administrator and allow changes. Once this is done you will be able to open with 7-zip. You may have to go into "show more options" if it doesn't show up in "open with".

I was able to successfully install the CFW on my PS3. The problem I’m having is playing games. Whether they are pkg, iso, or folder files, the system turns off and the red light on the PS3 is left flashing. This usually happens with 5-10 minutes of playing through the game. I checked and it doesn’t seem to be an overheating problem. I was on Rebug before, and have only noticed this problem with Evilnat. Do you have any idea what the issue could be?
I would recomend if you have a ps3 that can install rebug cfw and convert to dex think the last one was 4.84 but you can always log into psn no matter what update is out

Huh. I'm pretty sure the same ps3 I'm using now (that I jailbroke last year with CFW) now says it doesn't support CFW. Is that because of the system update? I can't remember exactly why it's no longer jailbroken (I think because my parents tried to do a software update on it when I gave it to them and they impatiently unplugged it so I had to reset the whole system)

Main problem is its ntsc-j console and im in pal region. Is there anything on jail break etc that can change the region lock settings so can play pal ps2 /ps1 discs etc in it Or is a mod chip a better option for the bc ps3? If available? Also have a normal phat ps3 but havent used it in awhile and is randomly freezing on main menu and slow boot ups. Guessing its the hard drive as does from cold start too. Thanks
I think the question is "can an ntsc 60hz console output 50hz pal". It could be as simple as a firmware setting. Or it may require finding a universal monitor. Good luck with those capacitors and rsx chip.
Regional locks aren't usually a big deal with newer Sony consoles although it would affect the revision of firmware you get. And it would affect add on content for the particular game.
Yea good point think one of my tv autoswitches anyway for memory. Yea i meant the region lock for ps2 and ps1 games. As most of my games are pal. Just be nice to put a physical ps2 game in bc ps3. Ps3 / ps4 arent region locked i think. Pretty sure ps2 and ps1 console were though. Yea already changed some of the cap packages. To see if would work. Should of changed em all. Got a problem my package manager folder that you see at 22:40 just disappeared this literally just happened a few minutes ago I turned off my ps3 then turned it back on then I see that the folder is gone is there a way to fix this. Edit: i solved it just had to install webman mod again
@ModdedWarfare I took a leap of faith and decided to install CFW 4.89 Evilnat Cobra [CEX] though my installation was different to what your video shows. When on the PS3 Menu and selecting System Update via USB, then select the CFW, I never got the User Agreement message and no option to not restart the console after installation. My console simply copied the CFW to the console, then it restarted into the normal installation screen (in recovery where you then agree to the User Agreement). It then finished installing the CFW and booted up, now running this CFW- hopefully it will help get to get Artemis working again, just tried activating a PSN account for PKGi but looks like the console was already banned before I bought it, so guess I cant use PKGi to download games directly onto the console :(. Out of all the CFWs in the mega archive, which is the best one to use, the one I installed just looks a basic CFW like the OFW. But I think my PS3 is shagged, it still keeps randomly crashing, even when sat doing nothing and I have to pull the plug for it to turn off. Im not sure if its a HDD issue because I can hear the HDD making a whistling noise. Anyway, can this CFW be installed on a console running OFW 4.89 or does it have to be like before, a base system that was already compatible of running CFW first, that then can update to 4.89. My son has a super slim on OFW, never been exploited before, so would this HEN version work on his super slim PS3 if I update it to 4.89 (I know it will be on a lower OFW than this). Its just that he is autistic and a nightmare when it comes to discs as any 8 year old would be, he loves Mine Craft and he has broke his disc in a meltdown, so thinking if I can get PKGi running on his console and DL it, cant afford to buy him the game again, no thanks to work sacking me for been ill with cancer, so money is extremely tight at the moment, god if my PS3 is shagged then no way on earth will I be able to buy another one to replace it.

Hey Modded Warfare - My PS3 fat died and miraculously i was able to find another fat with 4.89. I still have the PS3 HDD from the old one. Is there a way to clone the previous HDD and copy it on the other HDD via PC? There are some files and games i want to have available on the new PS3.
If your original ps3 died I don't think it will be possible. There is a tool that can access the contents of a ps3 hdd on pc but you need to have the erk key dumped from the ps3 the hdd belonged to.

After it completes cloning, I'm going to let the PS3 format the old drive and then see if I can then drop the contents on there afterwards. If it works, it works. If not, oh well. To restore your dump.hex file, you need an E3 Flasher.
