I've always thought that Bloodborne's Insight system had great potential that was underutilize.
The effect of Insight on the world and enemies, making them more difficult, or the appearance of different monsters if your Insight points are high, always fascinated me.
I can't imagine the limits of the possibilities of this idea.

Mechanics that need to come back:
1.) Dressing up friendly girl NPC in any armor/dresses (DS2)
2.) Goofy chatty cat in the hub area (DS2)
3.) Level Up lady does funny reactions if you perform gestures in front of her (DS3, Bloodborne)
4.) Treating friendly NPCs to alcohol to receive lore (Sekiro)
5.) Some fully charged R2s have unique R2 follow-ups (Bloodborne)
But jokes aside, I mostly want trick weapons back. Stuff like Hunter Axe, Kirkhammer, Ludwig's Holy Blade and Rakuyo are one of the most peak Soulsborne weapons. They've got a decent regular movesets but their transformed movesets are incredible (full R1 combo, full L2 combos, good R2s)

    • @geordiejones5618

I want a spiritual successor to Sekiro and Bloodborne. Much more emphasis on verticality, destruction and weapon-tools that function for combat, traversal and some puzzle solving. I imagine a giant decaying city like Minas Tirith. You start on the outskirts and look up, see something very bright at the top. You see several paths up and what sounds like an active grimdark fantasy warzone, and start climbing.

Assuming attunement is ever going to get back or they are going to keep the memory stone system for more exploration rewards.
The ER DLC already bringed a catalyst weapon and a hybrid weapon, so, while in a obviously lesser degree than the other games, those aren't abandoned mechanics yet.
I doubt that the DS2 powerstance is ever going to comeback because ER have the more intuitive and less convoluted system, even if DS2's had more possibilities. I thini they would rather just expand on the pretty barebones system of asimetric weapons that ER currently has, hopefully adding extra movesets so it's more interesting.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind them at all if it wasn't for covenant items being so extremely rare, in DS1 it was pretty bearable for example, by the time you reach NG+2 for the last boss souls, you'll have all the sunlight medals and eyes of death just by picking them up from the world or questlines, and you only need to farm the souvenirs of reprisal, which really weren't that rare, it's a gigantic difference compared to the same item's drop rate in DS3

    • @chaoskiller6084
      @chaoskiller6084 17 днів тому +1

@@Goku-zu3rk I think that the bigger issue is the horrible balancing of pvp, like forced gank fights, bad weapon balance, high damage across the board, bad netcode/latency, etc, covenants give more incentive to pvp, but it doesn't fix their bad mechanics, having more interesting areas to invade in could also improve the experience, like how sens fortress had very precarious ground to walk on, and traps everywhere

I always hated the DS2 sweetspot mechanics for pole weapons. It's what made scythes so freakin bad ind DS2 and DS3. But in DS1 it was a whiff if you missed and took a little longer to recover from the attack, but in return, the whole weapon did equal damage. This feature would've kept spears, halberds (halberds are kind of an exception due to their massive ARs), and reapers at such a reliable level, that players wouldn't feel so recluced to just greatswords or katanas.

I think they should change how spell casting works in their future games. It would be interesting if they add strong attacks for each spell, replacing the useless bonk animation. For example, take carian greatsword, with R1 you do the normal horizontal swing, but with R2, you can do a vertical swing (like the carian greatsword ash of war). Also, it would be great if all spells could be casted while jumping or after rolling, like carian slicer, making spell casting much more versatile, and flowing much better with the pace of the combat.

covenants, to me, was always an idea with a lot of potential but never really explored besides the online aspect to it. With the idea of having covenants in the game it always brought to mind something like a system that affects the world, the story for your playthrough, the reactions of other characters and specially other covenants. You could join a covenant and later on fight bosses from the enemy covenants, unlock new areas, stuff like that. Elden Ring was the perfect game for this kind of thing, but it never came to fruition. Although there kind of are covenants in the game, nobody in the game really cared when you joined Volcano Manor. A system like this would be cool and incentivize even more multiple playthroughs.

Trick weapons is NOT the Bloodborne mechanic I want back. If I want a trick weapon in a different game, I’ll just have two weapons on hand, switch between them, and that would be the same thing. Unless you can make custom trick weapons, I think they should stay in Bloodborne.
I want limbed bosses to return, as it would add a new level of strategy to a boss. Deciding which way to dodge and what to hit was so fun, especially when I got these bosses in a loop of limb breaks and stunned them for a bunch of damage.

I honestly have no idea why some beloved mechanics are just seemingly removed at random, boss replays and boss gauntlets should have been a staple after Sekiro, It's not like fromsoft doesn't already know that their games are known for boss fights. Limb break/weak spots was also such an early addition that improved on the formula so much, it's not just about dodge roll hit trades anymore but thinking about where you should hit and what attack to use.

While i am someone who wishes FromSoftware wouldnt make another Souls-like game, mainly because i want to see them get more creatvie with game design, i do agree with a lot of the ideas in this video. I love covenants and how they work in older games, but ive seen some peopel say theyre glad they got removed becusse of offline grinding. But theres a simple solution; dont tie achievements to covenant rewards. And like i said i do like a lot of your other ideas, except one. Trick weapons should never come back unless there is a Bloodborne sequel in the works. The reason people love trick weapons, and why theyre so iconic, is because they perfectly fit into the world of Bloodborne. Putting them into a high fantasy type of game with knights or something like that would just not work, from both a balancing standpoint and a lore one.

I'm gonna say this and i don't know if it's an unpopular opinion, but the rush mechanic in Bloodborne sucks, like, why replace the traditional healing with a "hit them back as fast as possible to regain a fraction of health" system? It wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for the fact that blood vials are a limited resource and you need to farm them (or echoes to buy them, but farm is farm), not to mention most enemies are extremely agile/strong, so any little health you recover will go down again because you got stuck in a attack animation
