  • This homemade skin cream smells amazing and absorbs quickly to leave my skin feeling so soft and hydrated, I love it! It's free from all nasty chemicals, you can make it completely organic and personalise the fragrances to your tastes, it's also sooo much cheaper than bought skin creams with the same quality ingredients!
    Lavender & Vanilla bean Face Cream
    - 1 1/2 tbsp wax www.iherb.com/frontier-natural...
    - 1/2 cup distilled water
    - 10 drops lavender essential oil www.iherb.com/now-foods-essent...
    - 1 tsp drops calendula oil
    - 1 tsp vitamin e oil www.iherb.com/rexall-sundown-n...
    - 3 tbsp coconut oil
    - 6 tbsp almond or avocado oil www.iherb.com/now-foods-soluti...
    - 1/2 vanilla pods beans
    Melt the oils and wax together. Pour into a blender and allow to cool to room temperature -choose a cool place in the house to do this - then add vanilla beans and put the blender on high speed. Drip the water in slowly over a couple of minutes and then you will notice it thickens into a nice cream. Pour into clean dry jar/s and store in cool dry place X

    Just a quick tip: I've been making homemade face cream for years and I never use water because it shortens the shelf life tremendously. I use aloe vera gel (or juice) instead, which is a natural antibacterial and anti-fungal. Plus, it is super healing to the skin.

    • @NicolesNaturals
      @NicolesNaturals 8 років тому +11

      +Jensen Kho Vitamin E oil and aloe are both natural preservatives, as well as many essential oils, but you can also use benzoin gum too. It won't last forever, but my homemade creams last for several months in my bathroom.

      Isn't aloe Vera gel water based??

    • @NicolesNaturals
      @NicolesNaturals 8 років тому +8

      +Valeria perez Not if you get 100% aloe. I have an aloe plant and just scrape out the gel from that, but you can also get 100% aloe from the store too. I mean if you want to get technical, every plant or fruit or vegetable has "water" in it, but since aloe itself is antibacterial, then the creams you make with it will not mold nearly as fast.

    I've been making this recipe for about 8 months now and it is GREAT!!!!! I just use vanilla essential oil instead of lavender as I am not a fan of the smell. Even though it has water in it, each tub lasts for ages. And a little of the product goes a LOOOOOONG way. Over summer it liquifies, but that's fine, and in winter it solidifies. My friends all love it and I personally think it is the best moisturiser I have ever used. Ela's recipes inspired me and after a fair bit of research I am now making and selling my own range of natural skincare products. Big ups to Ela for her channel. I too am a Kiwi and I make sure to source all my products in New Zealand and make sure they are all ethical suppliers. I go organic as much as I can. I like supporting local and 'buy kiwi made'. The locals in my town also support me and they have now started stocking some of my range. From little acorns, mighty oak trees grow. Thanks Ela for your inspiration.

    I've been using cold-pressed, unrefined, organic coconut oil with a few drops of lavender on my skin for years. It's light and nourishing for the skin and the lavender adds the de-stress our skin requires daily. It smells wonderful. I've been told by many I look 20 years younger than I am. And no wrinkles yet. I just found your channel and have subscribed. 😚

    LOVE It! I tried to squeegie all I could off cuz I didn't want to waste any of it! I didn't have Almond oil so did some research and used Olive oil, and also didn't use that optional oil. It was a hot day so I used cold filtered water and it came out so nice. I don't have a blender so I used my hand blender (the one used for shakes) and it worked great!

      Shannon Professional Aesthetician I know this comment is a few years old but hopefully you’ll get the notification.
      by making it the way she has, the temperature of the mixture wouldn’t be high enough to effect the Essential Oils, but since water is being added, a preservative does need to be added into the mixture so bacteria doesn’t grow. I use CA/20 Emulsifier Wax + Oleoresin as my preservative Note: Vitamin E is not a preservative.
      (water and oils must be the same temp to combine)

    Just a wee FYI, vit e oil is not a preservative. It helps the other oils to stop going rancid but it won't preserve this product, it will have a shelf life and a fairly short one. I make a very similar one as a body lotion and I give it about 2 weeks :) I use it all in that time though!

    People on recipe and DIY videos really ask the dumbest questions. If there's something she uses that you don't like, then just skip it or add in another oil or scent. It's not that difficult.

    • @LaraZombie

    • @lynxsaidno
      @lynxsaidno 9 років тому +6

      rachel ann NinjaBunbun For real lol. If I rolled my eyes for every time I read that question, they'd be stuck. Just do your own thing people. You don't like lavendar, use mint! Don't like bacon in your mac n cheese? Use something else you actually like. Just play with it.

    • @juliasteuber4585
      @juliasteuber4585 7 років тому +4

      suzballoon not that easy...people spend money on ingredients and they don't want to make a mistake. plus,different oil = different properties. mint as an oil can be much more irritating than lavender. so “just playing around“ may be a bit dangerous somehow.

      Lions Alive I sort of agree with you, but sort of not. If someone is allergic to an ingredient, or that ingredient can't be found, and the video maker states the health benefits of that product, I totally understand people asking if something else has the same or almost the same health benefits that can be used.
