- Decided to do an extended version of some of the greatest tracks of Shovel Knight and my personal favorites. If you haven't already I highly suggest you throw Jake Kaufman a few bones over on his Bandcamp page for the OST :)

This is probably one of the best, most awesome "level 1" tracks I've ever heard, and as a gamer I've heard many.
Level 1 has no business being this awesome. Haha!

The best first stage theme in any game in my opinion. Upon hearing this, I got over my niggling buyer's remorse and was instantly hooked on this game, and have never looked back!

It's amazing that video gaming has come so far in culture that games are now deliberately being made to look, feel and sound like games of 25 years ago. I find it fascinating that, despite initially being a mere limitation of technology, 8-bit has become a fully-fledged stylistic choice. Human creativity at it's finest: that's pretty awesome!

Shovel Knight's one of the few "Retro" games that actually looks like an NES game.
The graphism are too advanced to look like a NES game. But it feels like one gameplaywise atleast :)
It's because the game actually uses NES color palette. Also, the music is done with Famitracker (with additional sound channels, as used by some Konami games in Japan).

I doubt that'll happen in SSB4 but next or some later installment, they should to include one or two indie characters like Shovel Knight and Shantae.

I can already picture the Final Smash featuring all of the Order of No Quarter, finishing with the Tinker Tank crushing everything on-stage, haha.

I haven't finished this game yet, but I can easily say that this game is fantastic. This game feels exactly like a game I would've played on my SNES during my childhood, it's hard but fair, the soundtrack is amazing and the boss fights a pretty friggin sweet.
This is a great example of a good game with almost zero flaws
TMan5636 Yeah, it feels like oldschool gaming for sure. It instantly threw me back into the best era of videogaming (imho) and clearly showed me that those games were really great... This little game rocked my world again.

I've never played Shovel Knight, unfortunately, but man, I love this song so freaking much! I might have to buy Shovel Knight just because of the awesome soundtrack.
Do that and you won't be disappointed, by both the soundtrack and the gameplay.
Trust me, the hype this game gets is completely justified. Also free DLC featuring different playstyles.

Quick tip for extending any music track, ever:
1) Right click the video.
2) Press loop
The track will infinitely play. :)
U-Knighted Besides phones being unable to do that, some videos lower the volume as they get to the end or have an ending all of their own making it suboptimal for looping

What if the final smash is like megaman's and he brings in the order of no quarter to attack?
ZonicX2 Nah man nah, the OoNQ isn't in legion with Shovel Knight. No, Shield Knight should pop in for the final smash, sorta like Robin's final smash, and maybe at the end he bounces off Shield Knight's shield and hits an enemy kept airborne by the final smash. THAT'D BE FUCKING AWESOME!

ZonicX2 Black Knight's not in the OoNQ. If you read his dialogue, he'd say he wasn't helping the enchantress to join the quarter.
The way I see his final smash going is he hops into the air and pulls out the War Horn and blasts it doing around 45-55% damage with a lot of knockback.

I stayed away from Shovel Knight for a long time because of my aversion to super-hyped-up releases, but last year I finally bought Treasure Trove for half-off.
Holy crapoli do I not regret that purchase, it's such a well-crafted game with a MONSTER of a soundtrack that stayed with me even after finishing Shovel of Hope (I'm spacing out the campaigns so that I don't burned out like I've heard some others have). One of the best games I've played in years!

Keep in mind that none of these adventures would've happened if Donovan didn't beat Shield Knight and if the amulet was destroyed instead.

The notes in this track are doubled, which was impossible with the chip they used to make this kind of music (I forgot the name.) Anyways, this song is great and Shovel knight is great.
Joshua DragonSword well, paralax scrolling was also impossible on the NES, but whatever.
+leon2550 It actually did support parallax scrolling. Very few games had it though. Megaman 3 and Battletoads are two examples.
Alky II although in Megaman 3 it caused massive slowdown.
also, true yellow was impossible on the NES. but, King Knight.
