Just went from Option 2 to Option 3 myself. No vibrations or anything. Very happy with it. I daily drive with about 300lbs - Sliders, Tacoma bed mat, Overland Bed Bars, RIG'd swing out, and a Roam box filled with stuff in the bed of my truck. Not needed for option 3, BUT when we load out with 5 gallons of reserve fuel, 5 gallons of water, propane, camping equipment, etc..etc, we push closer to 500lbs, maybe even 600lbs. So I wanted the extra to keep from sagging that even option 2 would have.
Hi, I'm also curious how is stage 3 with about just 300 lbs of load? I'm in the same situation, loading up to about 500-600 lbs camping, but then back to daily driver mode. I figured it's gonna be harsh, but I'm hoping not too bad. Installing mine next week. Thx
I am prepping my leafs for option 3 as we speak to install tomorrow AM using your video, thanks a lot! I added painters tape to keep the metal plates from moving around, thanks for mentioning they could be a pain!
I would grease the individual leaf's and the round pads during the install to help prevent the future squeaks. I own this set and I have installed 40+ of them. The Icon round pads are very thin and wear out over time and squeak like an old lady.. After a couple of years of my own set, I ended up replacing the pads from Dorman that were much thicker. No squeaks since then. You can also replace the pins with ones from Dobinson (Greaseable) and install some leaf liners to help with noises too.
I’m saving up for the Add a Leaf RXT option 3. Every winter I add 300# of sand bags over the rear axle as we get 5/7 feet of snow and I need the weight for the traction
How much of a lift does this setup give you in the rear over stock? I have a 1 inch lift block. Would i be able to ditch the block and still have the desired hight that it gives me or would i need to keep the block installed with these leafs? Thanks!
Option 2 jacked my ass end up like 4or5 inches. Ended up taking it apart and doing it over with option 1. Like it much better. Gave me like 2to3 inches with 200lbs on the back the back
Hey thanks for posting this. I have the same problem and fixing to go back to option 1. On option 2 with 5100s the ride is stiff and was way too much rake. How does yours ride/look at option 1? Thanks!
@@travissutton2294 I love it. I put the Bilstein 5100"s on the front and back. Put old man emmue springs on the front to add a few inches to level it out. Rides like a dream
@@lucasrust8975 dude that’s awesome. If you don’t mind me asking, which ome springs did you use? I’ve got new top hats for the struts coming Monday. If I can change the springs to level it that’d be sweet. Thanks man.
I came to see the installation so I can see what I need to do before I do this to my truck. But the installer in this said he is adding the ass a leaf between the 2nd and 3rd leaf springs. However, reading the installation guide from the website it says for option 3 to add the leaf between the 3rd and 4th leaves from the top down. So now I am confused.
Interesting you bring this up. Based on this diagram is says to place it between the 2nd & 3rd. twstatic.net/attachments/2005-up-toyota-tacoma-rxt-rear-suspension-system-stage-1-jpg.3289316/
Depends on if you are doing it yourself or having a shop install it. Mine took 2 days. A day for the front and a day for the rear. But that also includes filming the process.
The back does sit higher now, but I also have about an inch of adjustment on the front that can help level it out. Once I load up the Tacoma the back end should drop a bit as well.
The great thing about the RXT leafs is that you have the option to change when you need to. If you are currently running stock then you can keep the RXT at Stage 1. When you are ready to do a lift and know what kind of weight you are going to carry in the bed then you can change it to stage 2 or 3.
Nice! I just ordered my RXT and will also be doing option 3. Judging the photo at the end of your video, there is no angled shim anymore. Have you experienced any shakes or wobbles?
Id I install the leaf pack with option one, is the a side that goes towards the cab and other towards the back? Also, the brake line piece that was fastened to the oem pack, does that still screw to the new pack?
I had good ride quality with the block spacer and stock leafs. now that i have the RXT leafs, the ride has improved due to the weight i have in the back. If you go this route, keep in mind what you plan to have in the back. if you aren't going to have lots of weight in the back then the stage 1 or 2 should be perfect for youre truck. its nice that you can change it as needed.

How does it ride on option 3 on your daily driver (300 pounds) ? Still happy going from 2 to 3

Full Stage 9 - love it, zero regrets. Perfect for my build. Great flexibility, fantastic ride. Super planted. Super confident.
Nice setup!!

Awesome tip! I haven’t had any squeaks so far with my kit but that doesn’t mean others won’t.

Giving me flash backs from my aal install. Great video!
were the nuts and bolts torqued on the leaf pack?
they were

@@travissutton2294 I'm not exactly sure. They were rated at 2" and we're only like 150 200$
I wish you could just buy it this way from icon and have it set up as option 3 right out of the box. Is that an option if you order over the phone???
That would be a nice option but that would be a question for the Icon team.
You sir are the best for this video! Thank you 🙏

@@Mumfy64 now I see it’s for Tacoma, not Tundra.
Thanks for the reply.
Debating on stage 8 myself or the fox performance elite….how long do you think the overall install time was for this kit?
Depends on if you are doing it yourself or having a shop install it. Mine took 2 days. A day for the front and a day for the rear. But that also includes filming the process.
How is the rake? Or did it sit level after install?
The back does sit higher now, but I also have about an inch of adjustment on the front that can help level it out. Once I load up the Tacoma the back end should drop a bit as well.
Is it an awkward height? I like the rear with a little bit of rake.
Its a little higher in the back but the front is about the same as the Bilstein 5100 setup I had before.
It’s higher with about how much weight. Does it look bad when not on a trip? You have 2” up front right?
I got 2.5” inches of lift over stock and they squeak like hell. Wish I went with Deaver
How are the leafsprings holding up now that you have some use of it? I'm looking into these stage 3 as well. Thanks
They have held up great and I do recommend them for up to the 600 lbs. Beyond that weight limit I suggest heavier leafs.
What end is the front and what end is the rear?
I have the stage 8...notice they clank when wet... does anyone know why?
Hi looking at replacing my leafs will this lift my rear or keep my oem hight. Thanks.
The great thing about the RXT leafs is that you have the option to change when you need to. If you are currently running stock then you can keep the RXT at Stage 1. When you are ready to do a lift and know what kind of weight you are going to carry in the bed then you can change it to stage 2 or 3.
How's it for towing heavy?
It did well with the bed rack, Rtt, and a 3500lb dump trailer full of a torn down 10x10 tuff shed and other debris.
Nice! I just ordered my RXT and will also be doing option 3. Judging the photo at the end of your video, there is no angled shim anymore. Have you experienced any shakes or wobbles?
Very cool!! I have not experienced any shakes or wobbles with this leaf pack.
Id I install the leaf pack with option one, is the a side that goes towards the cab and other towards the back? Also, the brake line piece that was fastened to the oem pack, does that still screw to the new pack?
How's the ride quality before the rxt and after the rxt installed? I'm on the market right now for a full kit
I had good ride quality with the block spacer and stock leafs. now that i have the RXT leafs, the ride has improved due to the weight i have in the back. @@Mumfy64 thanks
Is option 3 compatible with the Bilstein 5100?
They should. I measured before and after the install and the change was minimal. I’ll have a video talking about it up soon.
Icon RXTs are notorious for SQUEAKING, I regretted them after 3k miles
I have heard the same thing, but I haven't noticed any squeak. I'll have to keep and ear open for anything like that.
DONT BUY. ICON SPRINGS CREAK LIKE CRAZY!
I haven’t had this issue you mention… 🤷♂️
