People are usually perfectly fine with their kids marrying someone from Sri Lanka , Nepal , Bhutan , side eye if Bangladesh, and a huge trouble waiting to happen if the partner is from Pakistan and God forbid Afghanistan .
As a white girl travel agent in an Indian travel agency- I feel this on a visceral level. My favorite part of my job is hearing people shit talk each other- “Did you hear about Ravindra’s daughter? She’s dating … a Mexican lady librarian!” “No!” Horrified Indian face. “I told Raj that if our daughter is going to be a lesbian, the other girl should at least be a doctor from an Ivy League! Not a LIBRARIAN with TATTOOS!” 😂😂😂
I'm nigeria and when she said professional, I was expecting business tycoon or something. I held my chest when she said surfer😂😂😂 and I'm a teenager😂😂😂

😂😂 stop this is so real though like I was at a wedding and one of my aunties was like my daughter is getting married (in Punjabi btw) and everyone was asking questions and everything and then she was like to a white Man 💀🤚 it was so funny to watch them gossip
I still remember an Indian comedian talking about how him mother wanted him to marry an Indian woman to preserve their culture and he was like ok everyone but hear me out . An Indian woman would wear a sari for her wedding, but a “white” woman would wear a sari to the grocery store. And you know what he’s kinda right tho 😂
Dont worry its just a dream. As an Indian daughter I know no Indian daughter will go for a professional surfer in the first place 😅. And if they do that man will be sitting behind a desk in 6 months!😂. That how well our mamas trained us!!
Indian parents are more interested in their social status than income. There are many professions where you make more money than average Engineer or doctor but Indian parents will still prefer their children to become a Doctor or Engineer and probably lawyer. That's the limit
@@rachanacparmar not everything can be blamed on it. Indians prefer to choose a safer option rather than a better option. They would prefer to have their children give competitive exams so they can grab a government job and have a stable yet ordinary life ahead. How many Indians know about investing and how many of them actually dabble in investing? The number is pathetic in comparison to our population because they don't want to meddle in anything risky. Some professions earn way more than engineers or way faster than doctors but still these professions are the most desirable for them
