    Consider adding amas sidekicks to your outback. I have the same model and the amas sidekicks help with the stability esp when hauling heavy traps over the side when it’s choppy. I have the inflatables non hobie brand which works great. Great vid!

      Where did you buy them? I used to have some on the very first kayak setup I put together but I just found them to be extra weight at the end of the day, inflatable might be better!

    I would like to know the protocol when getting on the water. Do you have to check in with coast guards on the walkie? The numbers on your kayak, is that like a dmv number?

    • @HideshiIzu

      My safety protocol is have a VHF radio on me at all times to be able to contact other boats and the coast guard. I also wear a coast guard approved life jacket and a drysuit!

      Because he has an engine on his kayak, he has to register his yak with California DMV. I don’t agree but that’s the rules.

    What happened to portion of the video where you were catching rockfish? Clipping it out and reposting doesn't mean it never happened. If you're posting on UA-cam, you better make sure you know and follow the regulations. Have CDFW contacted you yet?

    • @HideshiIzu
      @HideshiIzu  10 місяців тому

      Any rockfish mistakenly caught that day were all released. No rockfish were kept. Clipped out the portion because I don’t want anyone to watch and think the season is still open and then go fishing and keep any rockfish. Thank you for your concern!

      Me and a few of my buddies used to at doran and tomales bay. Not easy. Hard to see. They are usually half buried. So we drop pots and scout in the area. It is not as productive and boats don't like dive near their pot. So watch your head. I hate the sound of props in the water. It feels like they are top of my head. Also, watch for current in place like tomales. Another hassle is seals are around crab areas and they mess with you if you are in the water. One time, a huge sea lion was trying to swim over him. Long story short, it is fun to dive but not as pleasant as spear fishing.
