Yeah! Nekoyanagi is so interesting! Really needs a wet nib/feed to pool a lot of ink and show off that gorgeous cyan-lavender-purple shading! :) It's amazing. And the nib on this Visconti was a total dream. I just want my pens to also feel wonderful in my hands, not just write beautifully xD So it was a shame I had to return it but, there will be other beautiful pens this year. I'm just happy I got to witness this pen at least once this year! Thanks for coming by to watch again Glemsy!

I know how you feel. I'm waiting for my Fire Opal to get back to me..probably in march..(i sent the pen off in December) It makes me constantly consider going from getting the Homo Sapien to the Pelikan m1000 or Sailor KOP.
Well only get the m1000 if you are ok with a medium nib when you buy an EF XD but you can always get that grounded if you want. I’ve not tried the KoP but it feels like it’s also going to be a thick juicy nib! Since medium is the smallest kop goes to. As you said, misery loves company 🥹❤️ here’s to your Fire Opal coming back perfect as it should be!
Beautiful pen and I appreciate your review. Visconti is out of my price range if I want to buy multiple pens in a year, and I won’t bother to save or sacrifice because of their qc issue. I just don’t want to blow my whole pen budget on a faulty pen.
Yes, definitely do not need to save for them if it will take a while and only to have a chance of getting one with issues. I usually ask my retailers to test the nib to ensure it is working well. For an expensive pen they will most likely do it if you request, but this time, it wasn’t a nib issue and I doubt Atlas could have stressed test and caught this ring issue before sending it out. Yes it is such a shame. I didn’t feel the pen was worth 900 dollars after feeling it. And a friend told me she trusted my instincts and for me to do so as well! So that’s where it’s led me hehe. For my money, I want it to be perfect for me. Not perfection, just perfect for me, like you my friend! ;)

Yeah, it's not a major issue that would ruin the performance of the pen. But it would become a nuisance if not fixed. I could also self-fix it, but then not sure if that would ruin the warranty either haha! So best solution would just be to let the retailers help make the decision on resolving it if I wanted to keep it. Thanks for watching it all the way to the sad ending, Tina! ♥
Yes! It is a medium nib. My fine nib is finer than this. I also used a drier ink in this medium so the lines feel thinner. I’m not sure how the Homo sapiens M nib writes like, but I know these new 18g nibs write a bit thinner than the 23k palladium. It certainly isn’t a juicy medium like Viscontis of the past or most Italian mediums. They are doing their gold nibs in house now, so that might be the changes that’s happening.

My favorite nib wise is my Visconti Crystal dream in a Fine nib :) overall look I think I still enjoy the regular Bronze Age the best but I really like all 3 of mine! I want Magma, too, but I’m sure I can get that in the aftermarket.

I asked my other friend who bought the Jonathan brooks resin Homo sapiens, the earth version, and they said it feels hefty and substantial. So maybe resin Medici was the only one that doesn’t feel as great. Thank you for supporting my decision 😊

Beautiful pen, blue is my favorite color. I’m sorry about the ring not adhering to the knob, I can’t imagine that happening on my Pilot 823, let alone a Visconti… but $$$’s don’t guarantee perfection. I bought the HS Sapphire Demonstrator 2 years ago and the nib was a disappointment. I should have returned it, but I’ll drop it off at the NYC pen hospital one day. I just received the H S Crystal Dream and I love it. Sometimes you get a fluke. 🙂👋🏿
You’re totally right, KnitSistah. Money cannot guarantee perfection 😾 only the promise to do things right if there’s something wrong. Which is why I don’t hate them I know they’ll do that for us, but I’m not going to wait 2-3 months to fix a ring XD one of my friends is waiting over 3 months for pilot USA to fix his pilot custom. So, I am pretty newish to fountain pens. I had no idea of Visconti brand. My most expensive pen is my pilot vanishing point. When I saw the Visconti mythos Athena (turquoise/matte gold tone), I NEEDED it. I was planning on visiting chicago in the next week and it was on sale at atlas. The planets were aligned! As you probably know, that pen is very entry level for Visconti. I think it was around $170? But, it’s become my favorite pen! It writes sooooo smoothly in the fine nib. I’m in love with the magnetic cap! Doesn’t the Visconti packaging look luxurious?
The box is luxurious and quite minimal! I like it a lot!! And it’s cardboard so easily recycled but I keep mine haha! I’m glad you got yours at a wonderful price from atlas! They’re always doing wonderful sales and I love it! I’ll need to try the mythos collection in person when I visit Chicago ! I don’t know how I’ll feel about their steel nibs since I’ve been spoiled by their gold nibs. But I’ve been interested in one of their Van Gogh series pens! Can’t wait to try them out at the Chicago pen show and visit Atlas!
