  • As mentioned in the video I wanted to create a quick video comparing the new Speedmaster 38 and the Speedmaster reduced 3539.50.
As a man with limited wrist space the speed master professional at 42 mm was simply too big and I needed to find a better fitting alternative. Those looking today will be tasked between the original Speedmaster reduced and the new Speedmaster 38 as great small wrist alternative.
This would’ve been a great resource to have when trying to make my own decision, so hopefully this allows you to make a better judgment and get the watch that fits your style best.

Love the topic since I am in the market for a 38mm Speedmaster. If I may give you an advice for future video''s though? Try to keep the watch more stable. The fidgetting and moving around of the watch so much makes me enjoy the image a lot less. Keep up the good work Patryk.

Thanks for the video. I have both the original Moonwatch 1861 and a Speedmaster Racing in the 40mm size. I’m not exactly sure of the reasons but with the crown and pushers offset there is difference in the type of movement I thought.
One suggestion for your future videos is to leave the watches flat on the table rather than holding them to give us a better look at them side by side.
Again thanks for the video, I enjoy seeing both watches.

I have pipe cleaner wrists. I basically gave up on the idea of a chronometer until discovering Omega makes a 38mm. Pretty cool.

I too have a thinner wrist. I also wanted a Speedmaster. So some 22 years ago I went to the local (only) Omega dealer & tried the 42mm. It wore way too large, I was considering a Seamaster when I spotted the Reduced Speedy. This was my first really fine watch so I was kind of unaware of movement or ref. The reduced fit perfectly. I paid my $900.00 and they sized the watch for me. I wore it constantly until about 4 years ago I broke one of the pushers. It spent the next couple years ion my dresser. I dug it out recently and decided to bring it to my local professional watchmaker. He gave me a price for a full service including replacing the pushers. It was $750.00. I told him I only paid $900 for the watch brand new. He told me the watch, after servicing, would be worth appx. $1800,00. Now I can't wait to get it back.

This is a great story! I would have kept the reduced in the video if the price was only 900 when purchasing! Compared to the 6x the 38 cost me!

Still a great video for compared. Wondering how has the 38 speedster been treating you? any regrets in choosing the 38 speedy over reduced since then?

You know. I really enjoy the 38, and never have any regrets not keeping the reduced. But I always, and will always have a regret with not wearing the profesional speedy. When im a bit older and gain some wrist circumference maybe I will upgrade to the real deal - the one that got us hooked on a speedy in the first place.

@@the51985 that’s interesting to know, I’m 6.5inch wrist and have tried the professional. It’s too big on the wrist therefore not for me. I’m looking at 38 vs the reduced at the moment

@@brandonchang6025 if you’re ever in an opportunity to buy a Swatch Moon watch collaboration - it’s a inexpensive way to try on the Moonwatch dimensions and see how you like it. I just picked one up the other day when I stumbled upon a pop up and have really enjoyed the case size on wrist.. and it’s identical to the speedy profesional.

Great comparison video. We read about the different specs, but only ever see them separately. To compare them side by side is great. As someone else pointed out, there’s too much moving the watches around, which is distracting and definitely something to note for future video’s, but you’ve helped me enormously in trying to make a decision.
    Well done and thanks.

Reduced is overpriced. For the technology that is available today. If i buy a reduced for around 3 grand I’m gonna likely have to get it serviced. That’s another 750 bucks. I’m better off getting the 38.

Omega service is a rip off unless your watch is heavily damaged and need new parts. They overcharge you by replacing hands, pushers, crown EVEN when they're perfectly fine. A reputable independent can service the reduced at half the cost and turnaround.

To me, I prefer the Speedy Reduced. I like bling but it has to hit the aesthetic mark. I prefer the cleaner bezel on the Reduced and don't care about the date complication. Also I believe the Reduced is a thinner watch which matters on smaller wrists in particular.
They are both beautiful watches of course and no losers. What matters is you chose the watch 'you' prefer and there is a far amount of preference tolerance when it comes to what watch speaks to each of us.

I like the notches a lot actually. Also on the new 38 the entire Tach is simplified, its a good evolution. The reduced Tach has more subnumbers and divisions in the bezel. The new Omega movement 3330 is superior, worth the tech going co axial and its also cosc certified. In the long run, the new version will run better and need less servicing.

Hi, a bit of cash to burn and looking for a chrono which I don't have; I have a de Ville and Seamaster, so thought this Speedmaster would go quite well having wrists of 18cm. However, Ive been given a link to a used well looked after 1 year old Zenith el Premiro Heritae 146 in brown at £1.5k cheaper. Brown is nice, but case looks a lot like my Longines St Imier black analogue. So I'm torn between the two....... pointers and suggestions welcome

Interesting vid. I am fortunate enough to be able to rock the professional on my wrist with no issue. I do love the design of the traditional speedmaster, so the reduced would be my first choice, visually at least. I feel like the 38 is it's own watch instead of a slightly shrunk professional. I think the 38 is an interesting watch on its own, a bit more flashy. Thinking about the 38 as a shinier and differently proportioned speedmaster does it no service imho.

Some suggestions to improve your video. 1. You may not even realize it but you are moving and shaking the watch way too much as you display it. That's annoying to the viewer and made me hit the pause button repeatedly to get a good look. Please stop that. 2. The background is way too "busy." Yes, it's an "OMEGA" poster of some sort but it really is a distraction, not an enhancement. It makes the eyes "wander" rather than focus.
And as far as not being "blessed" with larger wrists, consider yourself as definitely "blessed" to be able to fly to Scottsdale, play golf, buy and own two Omega Speedmasters and a Seiko SARB. Sorry about all the negativity. But I predict you're going to regret selling the reduced.
