I couldn’t agree more with you! Being intentional and choosing where you want to be, not where everyone else wants you to be. We’ve been planning a move for 2 years. Now our house in MA is pending sale and we’ll be living in Windermere in 30 days!
We left CA a month after you left OK. A bit of a different move, no children and older. Both of us found new jobs in FL and we're still learning about our surroundings. Our plan was to wait to buy a home but the interest rates were going nuts, so we bit the bullet and bought a property that's bigger than our original CA home for less money. BTW, I moved at 65, so that comes with its own challenges. I appreciated your intentionality in moving because that's exactly what our movement was about. Happy to be here and my next step is to figure out what my next work-life chapter looks like as I'm inspired by you starting your own business. Thanks again!
Not having a choice leaving my home in Long Island , NY during the last 6 months of high school. My parents moved me to NC I started a life there with my husband, have been moving all over the world to different military bases. Now that he is retired for the first time in 20 years & now my kids are grown. Going into my 40 th year soon , I am feeling so free to do my own thing hubby & I, are also celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary this December and we are now one week away from moving to Florida. So we can now explore so many new things together as a couple.
My wife and I are two weeks away from making the same move. We decided to leave Texas to move to Florida one night over dinner and margaritas. We sold our house back in October 2022, and have been waiting for our new house to be finished being built. Thanks for sharing your stories and vlogs with us! We hope to see you in the parks!
Thank you for sharing your journey! Can you do another house tour/update? I would love to have an update from your last moving vlog. Awesome content! Love your reviews and advice!
My wife and I moved to the Orlando area from Tulsa over two years ago. We didn’t have kids to move so we moved to a 55+ community so we have made friends fast. One thing I miss is having QT just around every corner.
Currently living in Alaska - making the Orlando move next year! Enjoy your videos! Something I appreciate is that you get the “vibe” and energy of the parks. Looking forward to experiencing them not rope-drop-to-park-close, but so much more leisurely. 😊
Thanks for continuing to bring us along on your journey, Dan & Leslie! Happy that you have adjusted, and the business is doing well. I remember you mentioning church in OK...did you find one to attend in FL? That can help with meeting people, especially for the boys, as long as you find the right one. :)
I needed this video today. ❤ relocating from Boston is something I’ve been planning for a long time, and I may have mentioned in the comments of another video , that family health issues is what’s keeping me here at this time. I’d have hoped to have moved already because moving 1600 miles away in my 50’s sounds exhausting 😅but I have to believe there is a reason for it. and I won’t give up my dream!
Also wanted to add we moved last year, my husband was 60 and I was 56 more. We made the move. Again, will keep you in good thought Jen and your time will definitely come. But I can see staying close to home in Massachusetts during this time is definitely essential.
While this doesn't apply to me and my situation, I am approaching retirement and the same concepts could apply as I end my work career and start over on phase 2 of my life. Great video (and I do remember all those pre 2021 videos where you worked though the process of getting ready to move and I thought you did a great job of the whole process and sharing it with the podcast family). Thanks for the video and your reflections. Hope you are having a wonderful cruise and anniversary/vow renewal.
Our closing date set for next week was just postponed today. We found your channel and advice to be the most helpful in planning this big life change! Thank you so much!
Hi Dan and Leslie!! Always enjoy hearing about your "Moving to Orlando" journey and how happy you all are with your decision!! Our retirement move from NJ to Tampa Bay in March of 2021 was for us a huge adjustment but being near our younger married daughter and her family, all of Tampa Bay's Professional sports, the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches and of course being so close to WDW has made living away from our NJ family and friends worth the move!!
What a great video! We had the exact same journey with all the chapters described in your video. Been here about a year now, and love it. Miss home, but everyone to include the kids are starting to feel established and some normalcy. Congrats to you guys for following your dreams. Also, love Leslie’s shirt, I have owned that one and have a collection going from that brand.
My son is a Poke at OSU in Stillwater, but we live in Ohio, home of the "other" OSU. OK State is his dad's alma mater. Do you ever do dining reviews off Disney property? Celebration Town Tavern is one of my all time faves! We always make sure to schedule a lunch or dinner whenever we're in the Orlando area.
Ok, we’re Sooners in this house, so I’ll forgive you for your college of choice 🤣. We haven’t yet. Trying to work through all the Disney restaurants before branching out
Anyway, tried it once with high honor student from up north and the schools were so low corriculum it was shameful. 3rd grade level in 7th grade. State is ugly unless you are in wealthy area. 3 months we ran back home as fast as we could to Ivy League schools and fresh air. Never again.
Trying that now is too expensive unless your making mega profits on your home. Also jobs pay garbage in Florida. Not realistic. Retired with huge savings, and income, forget it or live in a slum hood.

Congratulations, and welcome to the neighborhood!!

Lol, huh?
