This was a well made video! As someone who knows too much about our 2860, I am glad to see the loco getting some love! Just want to point out one thing - at 1:13, 2860 was indeed saved by the Vancouver RR Museum in 1964, but due to lack of funds their mission to restore her was failed. She simply sat in Vancouver until she was purchased by the British Columbia government in 1973, and restored. She then ran public excursions from 1974 to 1999. She was restored in 2006 and ran until 2010, but not for the public and only for special events. Otherwise excellent video!
This was a story I once hoped to tell to the mass, but glad someone with better story telling skills could! Glad to see our 2860 reaching a video of this production! :)
Seeing this being talked about again is awesome, i remember talking to my dad about this 7 years ago and to be reminded of it again is nice. Great vid Zach.
Also during the Fall of 1988, CP 2860 doubleheaded with CN 6060 from Vancouver, BC to Jasper, AB. After the CN 6060 was separated from CP 2860 in Jasper, CP 3716 would lead the 2860 on the return trip.
This is actually not the only H1 that went to California! There's another one, 2839, in Sylmar. 2839 was sold to a private owner, it then ran on the Southern Steam Program under lease, then was leased to Andy Muller Sr. and it ran a single trip for the Blue Mountain & Reading, and eventually made its way to California after a major failure.
@ModernLstudios you also HAVE to search the Atlantic Central Steam Company, the people who restored 2839 before it was brought to the Southern. they restored that engine in FIELD, with practically no modern tools or facilities whatsoever. the vid on YT is by a guy called "PeterInPA"
2860 is actually going to be operational again. I was told by a volunteer from the Railway Museum of BC. Once 2860 is fully restored I think it's time they bring her together with 2816 for a excursion.
@@TrainLover-wt9ix the Los Angeles Union station was custom made by me, I used the Mojave sub, and the Canadian rocky mountain route built in with trainz 2019.

@MSRailcorp Thank you so much! Your model is amazing!
@ModernLstudios We have a 2839 too! :)
Great video! Thanks for bringing light to these little known excursions, especially regarding rare mileage like this.
I've actually seen its sibling, 2839, in Sylmar, Los Angeles, CA back in 2022. Also, 2860 went as far as Minneapolis, MN, which is surprising

I think there’s a “royal Hudson” in the sci & tech museum in Lancaster Canada

@@pennsy77 Wow! I never knew about 2839. Maybe I’ll have to make a video about 2839 it seems like a good story
Definitely. I can provide you with information if need be.
@@pennsy77 That would be great, if you have discord, my user is zachh6620

Hunter Lohse has footage of it included in his Santa Fe Valley Division series

Who told you that 😂
Who and when was this told? I was there earlier of 2024 and they've told me it's not likely to run again
Please let that be true, please?
I love the fact that the Mohawk was just there at Union Station
Gotta sneak it in somehow
I have a question will there be a another polar express film with more time on 1225 and 1224 in the film and are you doing it
@@Valdorxsnowpiercer yes there will be
Great Vid, especially recreating it in Trainz. I gotta know what routes you used to make this vid?

There is a royal hudson in califronia on display (i cant remember what loco and where it is)
Where'd you get the 2816?
Recently released on TrainzForge payware
Found it
Really, the 2860's whole career is something in itself.
And that's not bringing up the career of another CPR engine, that being the 1201.
Great video also what routes did you use in the video
NICE! what routes did you use? and what trainz games is this? 2019 or 2022?
Might we remind you of the Southern "Beer Can"?
@@LunaGenYT7905 making a video on it right now actually
It took one look at california and never came back
I Mean what routes did you use? And what software for trainz is it?
Someday I wanna rescue and restore CP 2929,
Then maybe she’ll come stay in Washington where I live.
Got some cash? A place to restore and run it?
@ maybe someday.
I’ve thought about getting a kick starter going.
