was thinking the other day man it would be cool if Nico did a vid on this song.. here it is already! glad youtube decided to throw your vids up in my feed recently, just picked my guitar back up after about 10 years, catchya over on the Patreon mate!
Great idea for a lesson and presented really well. I've seen a couple of your lessons pop up on my feed over the last few weeks but scrolled past thinking "A bit to neo / psychobilly for my taste". But then I gave your "3 easy rockabilly solo tricks" a try and thought it was a great lesson. I have since watched all your lessons and have subscribed. I'm looking forwards to seeing more.
I looked all over for someone covering the Billy Lee Riley version. I kinda figured it out but this kicked it in. Thank you! That being said, and being from Chicago, I'm not sure that Billy Lee is doing the same song as in the other 3 versions. So glad you posted them all. Muddy next?
that's a great point Alan! Thanks so much. I love the BLR version too. I've been meaning to do some more blues on this channel so maybe it'll be time for some Muddy soon! cheers pal 🍻
Not sure what I’m doing wrong but for some reason I can’t get the part in between the licks “e, g, a, e” to sound like yours for the Lighting Hopkins version
@@DEATHRAYCAT Thanks for the info. I use the same string gauge. Your strings look like they bend so easily...maybe I just have to work mine harder! Either way, great lesson. I've mostly played metal, rock, and grunge...and am now getting into blues/bluegrass. I have to learn a song in increments of 5-10 seconds at a time since I'm not used to the style.
Would The Gretch Jim dandy be good to start with? I don't play guitar but your channel motivates me to get one and I saw a Gretch documentary which really made me fall in love with the idea seems to be putting me over the edge. I'm originally from Brooklyn just like Gretch , the storyline and the pictures in the documentary really hooked me... I can get the jim dandy for $150 US dollars, I'm wondering if that's a decent guitar to start with... I realize it's not going to sound like a full size guitar, I think they called parlour guitar but I kind of like the idea but I hope you could steer me in the right direction.... Starter packs but I would like to get something that would be nice to keep after I learned. Thanks a lot and I joined you on patreon first time I gave money to anybody LOL
Love your choice of songs, especially "Cramps"!!!! Any chance of adding Link Wray's "The Earth is Crying" Appreciate your work and playing! ua-cam.com/video/SYLKckjKG2o/v-deo.html

What kind of guitar is the first guitar ? Really good stuff thank you
Thank you! That is the Gretsch Way Out West I believe. They did 4 colours in a limited run

We gonna get a acoustic cat album?
Stranger things have happened!
Shoulda included Fred McDowell's version, too.
So it is not a typical blues since it has more bars of E in the beginning. They are not 4, they are more.
Love your choice of songs, especially "Cramps"!!!!
Any chance of adding Link Wray's "The Earth is Crying"
Appreciate your work and playing!

I removed my like for this video - not out of criticism; rather because the like count deserves to always be at 666.
I appreciate your commitment to the dark lord 🤘
