I grew up in the Atlanta area. Finished H.S. when Freaknik was still a thing. Left for university in 1996, got out just in time, before the city got totally overrun by ratchet culture.
Ratchet culture has definitely taken over Atlanta. Even in the nice areas. Smh.. Would love to leave, but I got a daughter here that I can't turn my back on
@@rdelacruz8949 The ratchets come and go. I saw a video of some ratchet chick knocking ATL and running to Hou. ATL needs to go back to “black” excellence like it used to be. ATL is still in transition culturally. This isn’t the same ATL from the 90s that I grew up with.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT (Plan) I visited Atlanta, with a soldier friend (whom lived here), I stayed 2 weeks. Wow what a culture shock! I saw so many Blacks doing the damn thing! Immediately I deemed ATL to be the best southern city for an upwardly mobile person of color. My mine was made up, moving to ATL. Once here I happened to find a decent paying job " Delta Airlines ", joined a Credit Union ( future home mortgage loan ) and after 1 year I purchased a 3 bedroom home in Clayton County, 20 minutes south of downtown ATL, twenty minutes from airport. To get ahead of the game, I rented out 2 bedrooms for 3 years, using all that extra rental income to pay down my home, that which I'm happy to say "IT"S PAID IN FULL" after twenty years. @ $950.00 monthly. So if you got a plan, ATL is a great city to land! If you come here looking for something for nothing, you will whined up pregnant! WHY? because all you get for free here, is Dck and bubble gum and the gum is fresh out!!!!
I have been in the Atl outskirts for five years and yes I wish I could leave now I have fallen ill and can't work, no support system you think family has your back that's funny. You are healthy and young enough to follow your dreams do not let any grass grow under your feet.
You are Strong Young Woman' to plan and move. I am in the same space and I am a Senior. I trust God for my whole life. My Journey is to relocate, a new beginning and a HOME. I wish you well my dear. It sounds like you are on the right path😊
