hey y'all! thanks for watching ~ as always, feel free to comment any questions you have! What other advice or questions would you like to know as an aspiring health professional?
This was extremely helpful.I am a graduate with a H.A degree and you are spot on.Unlike nursing where roles have been spelled outfor decades,H.A is really like an ocean with unlimited possibilities. This makes it overwhelming sometimes yet intriguing. You did a great job.I will choose a niche the fits my personality.
Thank you for this! One of the colleges I applied to I really like their Healthcare admin program as an undergraduate and I really think this will fit me. I was a Business Admin person at first but now im confident and see myself in this role.
I love it here, It really us an ocean with unlimited possibilities. I always knew I wanted to get into healthcare management, but there are so many terminologies when it comes to majors and programs. I just finished my associates degree, looking for a place to finish my bachelors and masters.
honestly its hard to go and accept the part do what u love to do when everyone around you wants you to do what they think is best for you its even more difficult and becomes even more confusing to choose your own path. i was looking into something more of a bussiness &leadership lane when then again im being pressurized to the part for doing something else that i find no passion on. definitely i will get through it and eryan your right abt one thing not everybody talks about this healthcare admin position ive rarely come across it . but hthank youu so much this video up to the point and precise on some grounds that needed to be spoken about
I worked at a hospital and was mostly a assistant to the clerk at a nursing station and I’m thinking of being a medical records technician so this video is very helpful
Administration is much more broad, but think of it as a general business degree for healthcare organizations. Info management sounds like it might be more like an IT job?
Just about to start my Office Administration Health Services program in January! This video was very helpful and insightful. Cannot wait to pursue my career goals and become a Registration Clerk 😊
Thanks for sharing, could you make a video about what are the subjects would someone do in Healthcare Management? I'm planning to study it but I don't want to do Mathematics as subject
I’m getting this degree but I’m also a LPN with years of utilization management experience and other remote admin nursing roles so I think this degree will bump me up! Thank you for your video!
Just started my second year in an MHA program and because I’m so type A it kills me to not yet know what my niche is😅But I also know that the field is so vast and that gives me faith we will all find something that we love
Yeah it is hard! I completely relate to that. Don't forget to try/experience niches you're interested in. Getting exposed helped me figure some things out :)
Hi Eryn, I enjoyed your video. I think this might be an overshare and kind of scattered but I just want to share that I have BS biology, MS exercise science, and two years in pharmacy school (had to withdraw due to health condition). I was an office assistant and graduate assistant. I don’t see myself as a clinician so I’m looking at MHA programs. There’s one in particular that fits the budget and timeline of how quick I want to finish (which I understand there’s a caveat to this). Do you know anything about AACSB and CAHME accreditation. The school I’m looking at is Louisiana State University - Shreveport and they are AACSB accredited. I’m asking to learn more about the effect of accreditation on employability. Thank you.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your story! It sounds like you’ve been on quite a journey, and it's awesome that you’re looking for programs that fit your needs. Accreditation does play a significant role in employability, so choosing an AACSB accredited program like LSU Shreveport is definitely a step in the right direction! In my experience, employers won't want to know what accreditation your degree is under, but rather how you're going to leverage your advanced degree in the position that you've applied to/interviewing for. Accreditation was important to me since I was interested in administrative fellowships as a post-grad professional opportunity.
I am currently working as a medical biller and looking to start my Associate on Health care administration. I would love to stay and move up within the medical billing department. Will this be a good degree for that?
Yes! It could help prepare you for those leadership/management roles. If you know of any other leaders in the medical billing space, I would suggest speaking with them and reaching out to other people to see what their take on it is too.
Thank you so much for this video I really learnt a lot, I just want to ask a question, I am from Nigeria I studied agriculture for my bachelors degree and plan towards transitioning into health care administration in the university of Regina Canada, I then found out while applying on the school portal that the course Health administration is an online course, so does that mean if I travel to Canada for the course I won’t attend classes as it an online course? Can I offer the course without necessarily traveling to Canada?? And also please are there schools in the U.S that also offer this course for international students thanks
Yes, there are US universities and colleges that offer a Healthcare Administration course/degree program. I would recommend reaching out to someone (i.e. an advisor or professor) at that university to see if moving would be necessary. You may be able to take your classes online, but perhaps there are other components of the program that require being on campus or being in person.
Yes, I would say that healthcare management and healthcare administration are largely the same. You can definitely do this program with a high school business background.
I’m trying to choose between a bachelors in healthcare administration or a bachelors in business administration with a focus in healthcare administration. Ultimately I want to work in healthcare but still have options outside of healthcare. Is the business admin degree the right choice in your opinion?
I’m a senior in undergrad right now looking to enter healthcare admin, I’m getting mixed reviews of what would be best: masters or work experience. Do you have any recommendations for jobs that would be good to work in before a masters??
Honestly almost any job in healthcare would be good, wherever you land it will help you contextualize what you'll learn in your MHA degree program. I would highly recommend anything that will allow you to work directly with patients, directly with providers, or both.
Hello, I have my associate's degree in healthcare management and 122 credits in healthcare administration with my bachelors. with my certified nursing assistant license. I worked in a long-term care facility for 25 years. but I can't get in to ta ait program for the life of me.
I'm not sure what general studies consist of. I would encourage you to check your curriculum to see if it touches on healthcare administration. If not, then you can always get your Bachelors in Healthcare Administration once you obtain your Associate's degree
Hello there. I am a Paramedic and im about to enrol in the course. Please advice, am I making the right decision? As a Paramedic, should I take the course or this course is strictly for Nurses?
Hi!! I am a BA in psychology major online, i have two more semestera left!! I am looking at grad school and i am looking at health care administration and health care management!! Im trying to see if i can get a 3.0 to get into grad school, what type of jobs can i get wity health care administration degree 😮
Oh honey, there are MANY types of jobs that you can get with a HA degree. A better place to start would be to think about what kind of job would you like to have, what would you want to do in your day-to-day, and then research and network to see if it exists (it probably does!). You could also start with assessing your skills and go from there to figure out which jobs would be best suited for you.
Okay so I’m a RN nurse in my country and I’m planning to do Medical administrative specialist in Canada I’m I doing the right thing? I honestly need you advice
Whether or not you're doing the right thing depends on your career goals! if you want to move to the administrative side, then I think this is a great way to start that pivot.
I have a BS in healthcare admin.....unemployed for a year now and have had trouble finding my footing in the field since I graduated. They want RNs for admin roles. I regret not getting an RN degree. Going directly into management out of college is very difficult unless you are in a highly populated city.
This is a good point - a lot of organizations are looking to kill two birds with one stone by hiring people with clinical backgrounds or experience. I've even some colleagues go back and get a clinical degree to enhance their resume. Are you looking for work only in hospitals?
Yes which is money gimmick. Why are all these unnecessary useless degrees around if they will keep changing the requirements. In Texas they want you to be a CNA OR RN just in case they need extra help you skilled to help in the role as a backup.🤦🏾♀️ a waste of money, time and debt😤
Have you thought about working at a dialysis center? I only ask this because I just got hired and they really like to hire from within. I hadn't known anything about Healthcare administration but during the hiring process they were explaining the ways we could move up in the company and you are already a step ahead.
Hi im from india. I've completed my bachelor's degree in dentistry here and wanted to do masters in health care administration in usa . Im also thinking about doing masters in public health in usa . Which is better one and what do you suggest ? Please let me know if you see this comment . Thankyou !
I think go for dentistry it has broad opportunities you can make lots of money, dentistry have lot opportunities comparing to healthcare administration.dentistry is much valuable degree.
I would also suggest a MHA to compliment your dentistry degree. You could work with a MHA, and then if you want to work as a dentist you'll have that background to help you navigate the American healthcare system.
Goodmorning girl thank you I’m majoring In health services administration and i just want to be successful but my family said that I should switch my major to something else and are you still in school or working in healthcare administration
@@eryndane hey girl that’s really good so after I get my bachelor degree you think I would have to go for master degree and I know I get to do internship also so I hope and still praying that something comes through but was you working in the medical field before you decided to do healthcare administration
Whether or not you need a Master's degree would depend on your career goals. If you're unsure on if you need it, then I would suggest doing more research prior to going for it. I didn't work clinically, but I did some volunteering in a hospital and I was a Pre-Nursing major before I changed it to Healthcare Administration.
It is only difficult if you don't have a vision for what you want to do with your degree. Then, you'll have no direction and apply to anything and everything. Most of the time, employers can feel that energy through your application and will be less inclined to hire/interview you. It's not hard to find a job in Healthcare Administration in general, but it can be depending on your preparedness, your work experience, and the healthcare niche/area you're applying into. I got my first job in healthcare by working hard on my resume and cover letter, and applying to jobs where my transferable skills would work best and make me the best candidate for the position.

Yes, it definitely will! An MHA works very well for those who already have a good amount of experience working in healthcare.

I am perusing a BA in health admin only to do the accelerated BSN program in hopes both degrees will help me move up the latter as a RN.
this was exactly my plan too! I think it's a great thing to do if you want to become a Nurse Manager or something similar.
