Mentioning the “stupid baby man”, there was a movement to change all serial killer names to literally “Serial killer #12345” to deglorify the idea of it.
"Richard Chase, in the middle of a conversation, pulled macaroni out of his pocket and tried to give it to the reporter. Anyway he then killed himself by overdose." I felt whiplash from how quickly that went from hilarious in its absurdity to not.
Richard is my favorite, what genius mastermind takes shits in someone else’s bed. Imagine coming home and finding someone left a massive coil right on your comforter
one of the saddest & most frustrating things about the Dahmer case is that more than one boy escaped - but the cops either didn't believe them or didn't care because it was viewed as "a gay thing" that wasn't important on their radar. He could have been stopped much earlier on :(
@@Skooter-ko1yj no he said he was his boyfriend not a family member which makes it even more sick that the cops just let dahmer take him back to his home
My mom was pregnant and had to drive the road the Green River Killer dumped bodies on to get home from her job while he was still active. She's always told me how terrifying it was. Even if she didn't fit his MO, I can't imagine the fear of stumbling upon something so horrific
My mom had just had me when we lived in a small as apartment and she worked in Tacoma, now that I'm an adult and I know about him Im so thankful my mom's ok
I think you answered your question about why we give serial killers "cool names" in that I would 100% be afraid to leave the house if someone told me there the "moon maniac" was on the loose but if you told me that the "stupid baby man" was on the loose I might think "well, I can take a baby man" and then I get murdered because I underestimated the killer.
As a Native American, I can confidently say that seeing a naked man running around covered in cow blood is a weekly occurrence and we call him drunk uncle
I like that he does his best to present a balanced, honest account and that he doesn't use clickbait or other forms of sensationalism. This is very refreshing to see so I'm glad that he's become so popular.
Whenever Wendigoon says “this might be be split into two or three parts” I always get excited. I love these long bingable videos, though Ive really fallen in love with this channel’s content in general. So happy you’ve gained success my man, you’ve earned it :)
Same. I work in an environment where I can listen to things while doing my work and long videos, loops, or extensions are perfect for it. That and with wendigoon I've come to accept that he values quality of his videos which hilariously increases the quantity too
i am honestly SHOCKED you covered albert fish and went on that whole tangent about names and didn't include this piece of information: albert fish's real name was albert hamilton--he changed it because in school, people called him "ham-and-eggs," which he believes was horrifically cruel bullying. if we had called him "stupid baby man" it ABSOLUTELY would have stopped him from killing.
The issue with the whole serial killer names thing is most of them start as a way for news media to refer to the murders, so even if that title was removed, people would still know them by the name from the media
“DAMN IT, JOHNSON!!” “WHAT NOW, SIR!?” “It’s nothing. It’s nothing. I just had a flashback to our standoff with dingleberry McGee and the floppy titty boys. They were a murderous bunch.”
I'll never forget mentioning Jeffree Dahmer and my dad casually telling me that a college buddy of his who was gay actually met Dahmer at a gay bar like two weeks before he was on the news.
@Calliophe Sage Rose HOLY SHIT. I'm so glad she's okay!! I literally can't imagine getting so close to that, I'm so glad she had heard on the news about him.
I really like how you spelled his name as Jeffree instead of Jeffrey cause theres a controversial youtuber named Jeffree Star and as you can see his name is also spelled as that
Even in spite of people saying Kemper is reformed, he literally has denied his own right to parole and is aware that society can’t have him in it. EVEN HE KNOWS HE’S CRAZY.
John Douglas (mind hunter) interviewed him & said he was very self aware. John actually admitted to somewhat liking him. Kemper purposefully got caught after he murdered his mother, as that was the person he really wanted to kill. He doesn’t want to get out of jail because he knows he will kill more people.
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised he didn't mention that. That's what I found most interesting about his case, he seems aware that he'd probably just kill more people if he ever left prison.
it's weird and kind of cool when you do things like ask them what they think and they say the most reasonable things. i remember a guy who killed his friend on a whim, and when a detective asked him what he deserved for it he sat there for a second thinking, and then said, "death. an eye for an eye." like yeah, life is just a game to him, but he's not a sore loser.
For me that's what kinda gets me about Ed. Obviously there was probably underlying issues but his mom was fucking insane towards him so I'm sure it didn't help. Maybe if he had a different childhood and help from the beginning he could have been someone interesting for a less horrific reason.
Yeah, it honestly seems like he's just kinda better off in prison, weirdly enough. In prison he seems to do just fine, but if left on his own in the real world he will do awful things and he is aware of it himself, so he actively chooses the option that is better for everyone - himself included.
Your point about not naming murderers cool names is actually 100% valid and idk why we don't stop naming them, or give them a super ridiculous name. A lot of serial killers want to be remembered, and want the attention. And giving them a dope ass name and then plastering that name across every conceivable form of media is literally EXACTLY what they want
It's not really for cool name purposes, rather to give us an easy way to identify them, and give a small brief explanation with one word relating to what they did, while I do agree with concensus of serial killers having cool names being bad, there's only so much we can call a serial killer "stupid baby man," though some of those serial killers names are actually too cool then they deserve, maybe tone down the coolness, but keep it high enough so they're not gonna be "stupid baby man," because everyone's gonna think they just had a tantrum or something
21:35 Another interesting Ed Kemper fact: He fled the scene of his last murder, drove over a 1000 miles non-stop (while high on caffeine pills) in order to get away from what he assumed was an active manhunt. When he finally stopped, and realized that he still hadn't been identified as a suspect, he ended up calling the police from a phone booth in order to confess to everything. In his first phone call, the police basically told him to fuck off, so he had to try again and ask to specifically be put through to a policeman he knew personally in order to finally get the police to come arrest him.
It’s kinda humorous in a sense that he wouldn’t have been caught if not for the fact he turned himself in. Also the fact the police didn’t believe him at first, laughed at him and hung up the phone. Ed Kemper in my opinion is one of the most fascinating people to study. He was a true killing machine. His stature and intelligence was the most terrifying aspect of him.
My mom used to work where Ed Gein died, but long after he actually passed. She said the old librarian there remembered him and said he came in everyday and just sat down and read. But otherwise that's my closest brush with a famous Wisconsin serial killer.
I deeply, genuinely, sincerely want us to start calling serial killers by insulting names. Can you IMAGINE how fast we'd have caught the Zodiac Killer if we got him all riled up and offended by calling him the Stupid Baby Man?
The idea that serial Killers would fly into a blind rage and start giving out random clues to who they are if we started insulting them is weird. Yeah insult them but most of them have probably been called 1000000x worse by their victims. I really don't think it would bother the majority of them if killing people doesn't bother them.
imagine calling a serial killer "stupid baby man" and them just confessing right away bc they don't want to be called "stupid baby man" like how fucking funny would that be.
Funny enough: BTK named himself because he didn’t like the name the news came up with! They named him the Screen Door Killer so he wrote into the newspaper with suggested names. What a nerd!
News Cast: "A man is wanted for the murder of three men. Each had all their fingers removed, possibly a means of torture." Murderer: "Yeah baby! Give me that nickname!" News Cast: "Some in media circles have dubbed this man as "Dick Licker" as witness allegedly heard the name Richard shouted out near the murder site minutes before the bodies where discovered." "In addition the severed fingers where found covered in saliva as if someone had sucked them clean. Be on the look out and stay safe America. "Dick Licker" is prowling our streets." Dick Licker: "What!? Oh hell no! 911!"
One of the craziest things about Ed Kemper is that during his kidnapping of one victim he pulled a gun on her but accidentally locked himself out of his car. The victim inside the car LET HIM BACK IN DESPITE HAVING THE GUN IN THE CAR WITH HER, and he of course just killed her.
Albert Fish actually liked being sentenced to die. He said it was one of the few things he had never tried (aka being put in a electric chair), and seemed happy while waiting for it. He was an extreme sadomasochist
You had several serial killers that killed sex workers, and that one sex worker serial killer that killed clients. I’m bummed there wasn’t a crossover event.
I had an idea for a horror movie/short film recently. A serial killer is driving around and picks up a hitchhiker, who is also a serial killer. What happens?
"Wait so you're the sex worker killer?!" "Yep" "No way, I'm the killer sex worker!" "So...what do we do now?" *many years later* "Anyway, that's how I met your mother."
A good portion of these killers were literally within the time of the 70’s. That’s pretty terrifying to think about. Ya had people like Dahmer, Bundy, and Gacy going where they were and just killing until they were finally caught
There's a reason serial killers stopped being so prolific after that, people got wise and started locking their doors and not letting their kids roam freely lol
I used to work at the facility Ed Kemper is incarcerated at. I wasn't on the custody side, but I still saw him every day at work. I didn't know he was a serial killer until I heard a podcast about him and recognized the name. Always friendly, he plays the "gentle giant" perfectly... but you have to remember he's an incredibly intelligent and manipulative person. It's all an act. I didn't like his portrayal in the Mindhunter netflix series, mostly because they made him too creepy; he's not, and that's why he was so prolific when he was active. Despite being a towering, overweight dude with a doofy mustache, he was able to convince young women to be alone in his car with him.
Huh. That's really interesting; I never thought too deeply about just how far his manipulative tendencies must have gone in day-to-day life. Thanks for sharing.
@@SaintShion what else did they get wrong? I'm very curious since I've always been a fan of the show but it seems like a lot of things are misinformed..
Wendigoon: "Stop giving serial killers good names because people will try to get those cool names through similar means" Me: Granted. Albert Fish will from this point onward be known only as Fish-Face
You know it's fucked up, but Patton Oswalt pointed out the "cool" names actually help get them caught. His late wife Michelle McNamara was a true crime author and sort of renamed the now caught Golden State Killer, and according to him the name actually helped generate interest and got media attention that actually got the case reopened and ultimately unearthed evidence that linked the crimes to their perpetrator.
@@stoneragan3870 dumb names can work bc the whiplash from reading "haha bobby bing bong is a dumb name" to "oh my god this monster is sick in the head, he has to be caught" is much more memorable than the regular "(location) ripper" name we have gotten used to. Also true crime podcasts would jump on those dumb names so fucking fast, which is good bc those podcasts are the easiest ways for regular people to gain interest about serial killers. I´m also taking this too seriously but this is fun to discuss so idc lol
You seem like such a nice, genuine guy. When you say “thank you”, I feel like you really mean it. I’m glad you’ve had such success. You’ve come a long way in such a short time and I’m glad I got here early. Good work.
I also feel like his words are super genuine. I rarely feel that from youtubers; most of them seem entitled or too jaded by their fame/success to be truly grateful.
He’s awesome. He makes actual good content. Most content now days is over saturated and dog water. This guys content is god tier! Glad I found him like last year. He’s a cool guy. We need more people like that :) spread positive vibes.
I love listening to these playlists, but I think there should be a prize for whoever counts the most times Wendigoon says "whenever" instead of "when" in a video.
I think that's just a thing that people from certain states in America say because there's another UA-camr called tylertube who also says whenever instead of when
"it was like over a hundred years ago, no way the dude is still around" But what if he's a vampire? "Unless he's a vampire" Always can count on wendigoon considering all the possibilities
And today the murderer the police have dubbed the *unfolds paper* "Stupid baby man" *refolds paper* has claimed another victim, the young woman's hands, feet, and head are still being looked for.
12:01 Not to romanticize over what he did but I can't wrap my head around how he had a cool name "Nightstalker" while also straight up looking like a fictional super villain.
I just love it when a normal man is telling me these stories. And not some youtuber trying to be edgy or acting scared or wimpy. No echo in the mic, no pretend over eulogies and not someone who looks like an addict or reddit moderator
Me too. I started watching him less than a week ago and now I'm binging his channel, which is funny because when I first glanced at one of his videos I thought, "Why is this guy so popular? He's just talking to a camera." Well now I understand why.
There’s a song named after this too. “Secrets of Wisteria” and it has a backwards message that’s from a real note Fisher sent to the family of one of his victims. He describes in detail how the girl died and what he did to her body (described how he ate her too). Horrifying shit.
40:47 just some additional info that you didn't mention; Corll is known as/referred to as "The Candyman" as his family owned and operated a candy shop which was how he was such good friends with/able to lure young boys so easily. He also was (I think) deployed to Vietnam but was discharged. Shocked that he was so far down the list as I thought he was one of the more well known cases
Fun fact on Albert Fish, he's got a descendent whose still alive and is a comedian named Maggie Mae Fish, she appeared on a podcast Behind the Bastards talking about it.
lost it with "no ones gonna run hiding from a storm named gary, but if we called it something like the automated woodchipper deathmachine 9000, people might leave"
If each persons hell is personalized, we can only hope that Albert Fish has to endure everything he put his victims through. Either that or something that involves giants.
So, I really like rewatching Wendigoon's videos and when I heard him say that he hit 300,000 subscribers I glanced over at his count now and saw he currently has 2.73M. He's really come a long way. Keep up the good work Wendigoon!
About Ed Gein, you forgot to mention that Ed wasn’t simply “close” to his mother. His mother was extremely religious and punished him for trying to make friends. She also railed about how all women except her were sinful whores, that she was the only woman he ever needed in his life because the others were “instruments of Satan”. This didn’t make Ed a misogynist, surprisingly, but it did help galvanize an extremely dysfunctional relationship with his mother that she nurtured and encouraged until her dying day. It was emotional incest, most certainly, and it is suspected he killed his brother Henry due in part to Henry becoming concerned with how uncomfortably close Ed remained to their mother even as an adult. She set him up for an emotionally disturbed life in a best case scenario. I feel nothing but pity for him. Horror, but also pity.
i mean yea i pity the guy and he might've grown up to be a normal dude if he hadn't been abused in such a way but he still murdered innocent people so my sympathy dries up quick
I honestly screamed when I saw the Ted Cruz photo when you were just casually talking about the Zodiac Killer and literally did not even mention it. It will always be my favorite 'common knowledge' meme
Defense attorneys are not necessarily supposed to convince everyone of their defendants' innocence; they're there to make sure the prosecutor actually has their case straight and meets the standard of proof. Most cases they obviously would like to be able to prove that the person is innocent, but in here with a blatant murderer, their job is just to ensure the courts follow proper procedure with an understanding that the guy is guilty in the definitive rulebook. Without this structure, actual innocent people suffer because courts can just decide arbitrarily when and where laws and due diligence matters.
I remember how shocked everyone was when Gary ridgeway was caught. It was all over tv, he had interviews on 48 hours and other prime time news programs. He was this soft spoken little man, looked harmless, seemed actually kind, and then to find out this guy who seemed very well adjusted was a massive serial killer and a necrophiliac, BOOM! Just blew everyone’s minds back in 2005. The craziest thing about it was that BTK was arrested and charged shortly before Gary ridgeway. They both were going through the legal process at the same time. These two infamous serial killers that were infamously known nationwide before they were caught and thought to be the last major unknown serial killers by the nation at that time. Of course we know better now. Still. The reaction then vs now is just mind blowing.
@@mellog1512 yeah well, I'm also pretty sure he's in a wheelchair so idk about that lmao Also, Wendi was kind of misleading on him - maybe other people think of him as a changed man but just until recently, he refused parole hearings and claimed to be pretty content in jail. He thinks he is sick and was always pretty open about that. Maybe he just wants to die in better conditions idk.
the fact that ed kemper was so smart that he could take a step back and realize what he did, and then determine that he can’t be let back into society is really interesting to me. like dude is so smart that he literally took the most logical option, even if it means he won’t be allowed into the public again.
That’s what so interesting about him. His intelligence. Every who’s ever talked with him, says he’s a chill guy until he starts talking about his murders.
@@certainfrequencies Is it truly evil though? This guy sounds more like a Terminator: an unfeeling machine that kills because it is programmed to do so.
About Albert Fish, I'm sort of disappointed you didn't talk about the letter he sent to one of his victim's parents about killing and eating their daughter. That's honestly the most interesting thing I found about his case.
it's lowkey kind of shocking to me that ian brady & myra hindley, dennis nilsen and stephen port were so far down, i feel like every single person in the uk knows those names😅
I'm from the US and never heard of Stephen Port. But with Dennis Nilsen putting bodies under the floorboards and in the pipes and the Ken & Barbie thing Brady and Hindley got in the media, they aren't totally obscure over here.
15:43 even though I’ve already seen this exact argument made several times, it still sends me wheezing. Something about teasing a horrifically dangerous person with the name “Stupid Baby Man” like we’re pushing them off the preschool playground slide is both hilarious and makes perfect sense.
we really should tbh. It takes away any "cool factor" they may feel from the public' sand medias fear/fear mongering. But the potential of it making them angry and more violent is definitely there too.. damn.
@@squishish I think someone said this already but it would also make them seem less dangerous. Just like we underestimate the danger of hurricanes the same would happen here and people would be less cautious of serial killers thinking they are not a big deal and could end up getting themselves killed.
@@nikiardo That is true. I forget there are parts of the population with egos too big and some to 0 critical thinking skills. It could promote taunting killers or vigilante acts. Maybe just not naming them is the best play??? No idea honestly given all the ways various techniques could end up.
Albert Fish also had 3 sons, none of whom he abused, but he did get them to do masochistic things to him, like spanking him with a nail studded paddle. Also, the Snowtown Murders actually took place in Adelaide (the bodies were found in Snowtown), and way more than just those 3 participated in the murders, including Jamie's mother in one of them.
I do want to point out that him making his kids sexually arouse him with that stuff is still abuse, just more of a sexual and mental version instead of physical.
It’s crazy how I’m watching this when he has 2.8 million subs and he’s thanking everyone for 300k. So happy to see how much he’s grown over the last 2 years and hope it keeps going

My parents grew up 5-6 miles away from where where Dean “Candyman” Corll was located. We know that story well and it’s, Corll died shortly before my mother was born and two years after my father was born. They talked about how their parents always got super worried about them because of what happened during those years.
Henry Lee Lucas also admitted to “driving his car to Japan” where he also apparently killed a bunch of people. He also said he supplied Jonestown with their poison...interesting guy to say the least.
BAHAHAH I REMEMBER THAT IN THE NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY. He was like "Yeah lol I've been there." And the Japanese film crew was like "Oh, you took a plane or smtn?" And he's like "No, I drove :)." It was like something out of SNL.
What is interesting though is that Henry Lee Lucas never took back the claim that was he was in "Hands Of Death" Satanic cult up until his death and this was even when he recanted several murders that he had lied. Also interesting to note that George W Bush who was governor of Texas in 1998 commuted his sentence from the death penalty to a life sentence. But it gets better as Henry Lee Lucas PREDICTED he wouldn't be put to death before his death penalty sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 1998.
I think it is important to point out that Rose West was just as awful as Fred. She grew up sexually abusing her siblings and then also did this to victims during the murders, it wasn’t just Fred. She also killed her step-daughter while Fred was in prison, she was evil to the core.
@@LemonColoredCrayon Whenever I think of “Fred” I either think of the one from Scooby Doo or the screaming internet child, and now I’m imagining them becoming a serial killer duo and it’s hilarious.
See the thing with Dahmer is that he straight up had a victim escape and run to the neighbor but the police didn’t want to get involved because they were freaked out over ‘the gays’ and just assumed it was some weird kink stuff
Also! The women that reported that incident were lower income black women, which, of course, the police took even less seriously. Dahmer chose a neighborhood like that to stay under the radar, his parole officer stopped showing up bc she didn't feel comfortable in the neighborhood. If she had done her job, he might have been caught sooner.
My mother’s family is from a small town near Plainfield, where Ed Gein was from. I had aunts and uncles that knew Eddie, and he was just thought of as being a harmless weirdo-until he walked into a hardware store and, well…

The funny thing is that Ed Kemper was caught because he turned himself in. He probably could have gotten away with it for at least a good while longer because he was super buddy buddy with the cops, and none of them believed it could have actually been him.
It's also what news media wants, as it is attention grabbing and gets more eyes on their schlock
we should name them smth like tiny pp pete or mouth breather bitch-atron 9000
It's not really for cool name purposes, rather to give us an easy way to identify them, and give a small brief explanation with one word relating to what they did, while I do agree with concensus of serial killers having cool names being bad, there's only so much we can call a serial killer "stupid baby man," though some of those serial killers names are actually too cool then they deserve, maybe tone down the coolness, but keep it high enough so they're not gonna be "stupid baby man," because everyone's gonna think they just had a tantrum or something
Yeah we should name them “small penis guy” and “little dick energy”
If u give them a ridiculous name ppl won’t take it srsly
21:35 Another interesting Ed Kemper fact: He fled the scene of his last murder, drove over a 1000 miles non-stop (while high on caffeine pills) in order to get away from what he assumed was an active manhunt. When he finally stopped, and realized that he still hadn't been identified as a suspect, he ended up calling the police from a phone booth in order to confess to everything. In his first phone call, the police basically told him to fuck off, so he had to try again and ask to specifically be put through to a policeman he knew personally in order to finally get the police to come arrest him.

Henry Lee Lucas also admitted to “driving his car to Japan” where he also apparently killed a bunch of people. He also said he supplied Jonestown with their poison...interesting guy to say the least.

I had a good laugh at that bit, shit was funny but it was a similar joke to one I've heard before, as prob with many others.
The funny thing is that Ed Kemper was caught because he turned himself in. He probably could have gotten away with it for at least a good while longer because he was super buddy buddy with the cops, and none of them believed it could have actually been him. His openness to talk about what he did and why also was pretty important to the development of criminal psychology as we know it today. He's never really seemed to show much real care or bother over everything he did and listening to those interview tapes is certainly an experience haha.

Hence why he should never be allowed out on parole.
@@Wolf813921 Pretty sure he has no interest in parole, and frankly hes probably far more useful in prison as a sort of training method for criminal psychologists.
