I hope this won't start anything with any of the subscribers/commentators on this excellent channel, but, speaking as someone who absolutely doesn't know anything about Italian politics, I'm personally going to hear Mr Allen's opinion with a very open mind! He's lived in Italy, most of the last 30 years and clearly takes great personal, as well as professional, interest both in Italy and The Vatican. Why would an apparently sane, experienced journalist report "the opposite" of "what Italians feel"? One accepts he is but one voice, and so will not speak for everyone. That said, I guess I'll take his opinion over the lady below, especially in the light his commentary is backed up by fact (something like 750 of the approx 1000 available votes went to reelect Il Presidente for the second term) rather than irritation 😉 Just seems to me, therefore, that the conclusion that generally "Italians" feel "the opposite" is both unreasonable - and unlikely.
great content, as usual I might say. I'm really curious to see how this law suit turns out. I think its strange that the prosecutors refuse to hand over the evidence. The story about Benedicts time in Munich 40 years ago seems to me strange, too. What happend 40 years ago in a meeting about an adminstrative decisons on where to move a priest? Really?
In the past good decent Catholic prelates would normally be at a distinct disadvantage when dealing with paedophile colleagues as they would usually be naive & ignorant when faced with exceptionally manipulative & evil people who are at the opposite scale of the moral spectrum to them & whose mindsets they could never understand. Sadly evil people can hoodwink decent well meaning persons. We need to remember that & lay the blame with the perpetrators.
With all due respect, you now nothing about Italian politics or about how Italians feel about the situation - just about everything you said was the opposite of the current reality there. I didn't bother listening to the rest of your report. Arrivederci...I don't think.
I love your approach to reporting the news!
Good show. CCC #121 states that: "The Old Covenant has never been revoked." Figure that one out.
Awesome. Thank you for your work.

Well, that was innocuous.
Perhaps the editorial was deliberately written off point to make it seem Benedict was guilty.
