I'm not if I was I would be Telling you what to do. Instead I am sharing what works for me and what doesn't. Who knows you can be the complete opposite and I'm not a teacher to figure out what works best for you. I don't have the proper teaching credentials or ever been to any Bible schooling or college... All I share and know here is what I have learned on my own. Though the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Soooo no I wouldn't call myself a teacher. I'm a sister in Christ. But if you want to call me a teacher than I can say yeah I'm teacher. I just never want to make a false claim or statement. Hope this makes sense

I love how you encourage new readers to get a Bible they are comfortable with, and one that they will use. That is so important! And there are such fun things to consider when choosing a Bible, like you said: font size, single column, double column, the font style, red letter, size of the Bible, hardcover, leather, journaling style, etc. Those are such fun and exciting things to consider as you familiarize yourself with the selection of Bibles out there, and find just the right one. I have an extensive Bible collection, with 125+ Bibles, in many different translations, various costs, and many different styles and sizes, etc., and one of my FAVORITE is a $15 red pleather KJV in a unique font. No notes, very few references, cheap as compared to most in my collection, and out of pretty much all of them, it’s my favorite KJV. Isn’t that funny? Out of them all, I like the $15 one! But I actually USE it and enjoy it very much. So thank you for your little tutorial. I’m sure all of us, beginner or not, will enjoy and relate to what you have said. Cat your videos have encouraged me so much to liven up my time in the word. As a bible collector like you, I have gotten such great ideas on doing theme bibles from your channel for myself and my kids. I just got my first Premium bible. A blue goatskin NASB Schuyler bible. Love it! I would not have even known about this bible if not for your channel. I love what you said about not relying on a church to feed you the word. I know many Christian brothers and sisters in my life that have never even opened a bible and solely depend on their Pastor to feed them the word on Sunday. Thank you so much for sharing your time on you tube with us. May God bless you. And I have to laugh at how you talk to your sweet cat like a person. Haha I talk to all my animals the same way hehe.
Cat you may never understand how God uses you to answer all the questions I have about growing the most intimate relationship with God , choosing bibles, my word for the year. Literally in one night you answered all the questions I had and then this video comes out is a COMPLETE BONUS ! Thank you for saying this is not about you !!! That is a great reminder ! Cat, I love your videos, such an inspiration! To any believers who want help with the word, there are many videos by pastors (usually taped as the pastor leads bible study at his church) One I like a lot is Skip Heitzig from Calvary Chapel, in NM. I am currently finishing a refresh through the book of John. Just put the chapter you are interested in, in the search & many will come up. I like Skip because he takes his time & gives all of the cultural info that is going on at the time & he does either a chapter or 1/2 a chapter at a time. (you can pause the video if taking notes) I also think in person bible studies are great. I started following on YT during the stay at home because of Covid. YT gives us the luxury of learning from pastors all over the world, on our timetable & we benefit from their years in seminary.
Great job teaching, Cat! Loved everything you said. I LOVE reading my Bible and seeing who my Father is - Old Testament and New Testament. I love the pictures in the Old Testament and the teachings in the New. And if you read the WHOLE Bible you'll see that God never was this mean ogre. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. I hear you. Many people told (me) that I have to go to church, because I won’t grow stronger in my faith if I don’t. But when it comes to simply bible reading the same people are like „what? You read the whole bible? Why? You’re such a freak.“ I won’t argument with them any more, just praying. But I’m feeling much more confident after watching your video. It sounds right and pretty well with god. My situation is btw mom of 4ish 😂 in a tiny village near a city but the the next (good) church ist pretty far away though. Thank yous from Germany ❤️
Yes, I love your suggestion to read Psalms and a Proverb chapter every day! I can take it in baby steps. I also appreciated your explanation of reading a single column verses a double column. I never gave that much thought before, but it makes sense.
in regards to your point about 'what about the wars and all the bad things people do? do i really wanna follow this?' i find it helpful to look at those certain sections in bible study books so i can understand the context of whats happening. but even then i find myself simply saying i dont understand it God but i trust that You are good and fair
i am listening to the audio bible on UA-cam ( all the gospels) and it is great. Now, is this ok to do this? i just find it easier than reading the written word you know?
Whatever gets the word inside of your Heart Soul & Mind... of course it is good to do. But I will ask are you studying the bible it's one thing to have it read for you. (May I ask what are you doing whenever you are listening to the bible?)
@@catwoods5499 Mmmm.... good question. Not sure about that. All i know is that i DO get the word which i have never really heard before. Its a lot faster than reading i find personally AND its the original KJV as well. I also have the book where Chist speaks EVERY word he spoke and only Christ.
I ask this question because if your doing other things like washing the dishes cooking etc. It's easier for your mind to drift off. I mean it happens to me sometimes when I'm reading the bible. I can't imagine doing something else when's it time I've decided to God. Now don't get me wrong listening to the bible while your doing your chorus or cooking is fine. But however you still need time with God. (ONLY GOD) all your focus has to be on Him not on other things. This is why I stressed in the video your reading time has to be about God and getting to know Him. It's not about you or what is easy for you. If you want your relationship to grow stronger with God than you have to work and push for it. Our Heavenly Father will NEVER EVER PUSH HIMSELF ON US.
@@catwoods5499 no, i dont do anything but listen and absorb the words. Very inspirational i find. The entire series is on youtube ( every gospel without music, just word for word). Recorded back in 1965 and is the go too for decades on record i have been told. i find personally my mind wonders when i read.... maybe my eyes or my illness, i dont know. Anyway, better than listening to the rolling stones like i used to do before i was filled with the holy spirit.
@@truebeatlepeople that's what I recommend to my sisters in my group when they are struggling with the names and places throughout the bible having them listen to the bible will help them understand how those name & places are pronounced. This is what helped me. I enjoy listening to my bible in the car. But I enjoy my bible in my hands too much to not read it. Im at a loss about whether to mark in my other bibles other than my journaling bible...and I don't even know what I would write in my other bibles or HOW I would write in them...I pull them out and study on them how I could accomplish these things...help..lol
I started with the gospels just because I love them so much. I do admit I am concerned that the old testament won't hold my attention. I read some people have a hard time with some of it. Nice video on getting started. I wasn't sure where to begin so I started in the nt. I guess the biggest jump is getting started!
karen armendariz I found a reading plan on the you version Bible app that I printed out and followed for this year. It has me criss crossing in the OT and NT. My goodness the connections that I have realized....as Cat would say, ooooweee! I also have dedicated a bible to marking out all the Bible prophecy and just wow! What a year in the word it has been. Accurate than what? The translation that are stated Word for for are more literal in the translations that are thought for thought. All translation claim not to be prefect but are close to the original manuscript. This is a explain in this video not worry about what I say a good translation is for your pastor. It's not a good one for you if you don't read it or understand what you're reading. Find what God is leading you to and go from there

Mariah, I will pray for you & your husband! My husband was raised Mormon & had a bad taste for church of any kind. I went with our girls. It did take some time, but he started going with us & eventually became a believer as well. He then encouraged his 1 brother & 1 sister (plus their families) to come with & they became believers as well. (Sadly, his other brother & sister as well as his mom have not-yet) Continue to be an example, pray for him & i well as well. 😊

I agree with you about going to church. You can communicate with God, have a relationship and worship God without and grow spiritually without going to church. I have anxiety and PTSD and medical issues and going to church is hard for me. I hate being around crowds of people (even before Covid) I rather watch a sermon on UA-cam at home and read my bible myself. Not everyone feels at home at a church

I agree with you about going to church. You can communicate with God, have a relationship and worship God without and grow spiritually without going to church. I have anxiety and PTSD and medical issues and going to church is hard for me. I hate being around crowds of people (even before Covid) I rather watch a sermon on UA-cam at home and read my bible myself. Not everyone feels at home at a church
Amen. I don't like to go when you hear more about their political beliefs or views than they talk about God. It's heartbreaking

I have to let you know that you have been an amazing inspiration for me. You gave me a new way to look at Bible study. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Matt Winger but he has a UA-cam series on the book of Mark and I really think you would love it. He goes in deep to the verses and it’s incredible.

WE are the church..WE are the living breathing speaking gospel..Jesus told his disciples to GO Out into the world and preach the gospel..to spread the word..the best church is us.just my opinioin

@@catwoods5499 I will lose sleep studying my bible..I just got off yesterday from doing 8 days straight at work COMPLETELY exhausted..when I got home.ate supper..pulled out my creative bible..and I bet I had it out 6 hours..falling asleep while soaking up the sovereign kings word..
