Have you read any of these books already? Which one would you start reading first? Let me know down below and we'll talk books some more!

I’ve got several books going ATM…
’Tales of Love and Darkness’ by Amos Oz, one that’s been on my shelf for years. A real character study of the author’s family over several generations. Amazing writing.
‘The Morning Star’ by Karl Ove Knausgaard. So far I have a distant mother, a drunk dad, 108 fish waiting to be gutted in the basement, and a dead kitten.
‘Orbital’, a contender for the Ursula K. LeGuin Award. Just started it this morning. So far it seems a meditation on Earth, our connections & relationship to it, from the perspective of 6 astronauts.
‘Timeless’ by Gail Carriger, the last in the Parasol Protectorate series, a fun light read/listen. The narration is excellent.
Of the books you mentioned, I’m most interested in ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’.

    Love a good bookstore crawl.
I'm a huge fan of Elif Shafak and Claire Keegan. The cover for The Cautious Travellers Guide... is lovely

Cracking selection! I read and loved I Who Have Never Known Men and Small Things Like These this year. Interesting that Jaqueline Harpman isn’t particularly well known in Belgium.

She totally isn't: I bet if you ask 10 random Belgians who she is, you are lucky if you get a right answer :p

I'm glad you had a good London trip. Like me I always come out of bookshops buyi b far more than I intended to. The Belgian authors book sounds like something I would enjoy, she's not someone I have heard before so will be giving it a shot.

It's truly the cult book of this year. Last year was Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet this year is Jacqueline Harpman :p

Ik wil ook heel graag eens Elif Shafak lezen. En dat boek van Jacqueline Harpman klinkt ook wel echt goed 👀
The Road ga ik heel binnenkort als graphic novel lezen! 😍

My husband is a fan of Cormac McCarthy, especially his Westerns. Lady McBeth looks interesting, but I will wait until copies filter down into the second hand market, even recent releases end up in the charity/thrift shop - there is nothing like the thrill of buying a bargain! Also my local library is part of the Borrow Box scheme, which is a digital audio library here in the UK, so maybe I might hang on until it appears there.

I do agree: finding a little gem in a second hand store is a great feeling!

Looks like you have an excellent few months ahead of you in terms of reading. I’m delighted to see you pick up more Claire Keegan. That particular one is set in my hometown.
I hadn’t heard of The Ghost Cat but I can absolutely see why it was a cover buy 😍
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the new Elif Shafak. I’ve been tempted to buy it but have been holding off.
Happy reading, Bart. I hope you enjoyed your trip 😄

Some weighty books to carry back from London!
Not got any of them. Put off the Lady Macbeth as listening to an Audible sample, got 2 place names mispronounced by the American reader! Then add the blurb about the author "She has a degree in political science from Barnard College, focusing on religion and ethnonationalism. " 🙄. I will be interested in your take after reading.
Really like The Umbrella Academy on Netflix but I stopped my sub after season 2, so may renew in Winter. I have seen I can get the 3 comic books as a box set - very tempted.
I like short stories so may also get the Keegan - Antarctica as a first step.
I know it is highly regarded but I hated the film of The Road, so I'm loath to read the book.
Thanks for the video & come back to London before too long 😃

I will admit to having packed an extra bag because I knew I was going to need more carry capacity on the journey homewards :D
