Do you try to solve Agatha Christie mysteries? And what is your favorite Agatha Christie novel? Let me know down below ad we'll talk the Queen of Mystery some more!
I never try to solve her mysteries…too hard to do so. That’s why she’s the Queen! My favourite is probably Murder on the Orient Express. First time I’d ever come across a mystery where there was more than one killer (won’t spoil it for those who may not have read it). Such a radical ending. Love Hercule Poirot but funnily enough never really took to Miss Marple.
I absolutely enjoyed the biography, and there are still so many mysteries surrounding her as a person as well…I’d love to know all about her disappearance one day
I've read almost everything she's written and I never figure out the murderer -- just more proof of her genius. Sometimes, I can tell when a clue is important or if it's a red herring, but I can never figure out how it actually fits in. 🤷🏻♀️ I don't even care -- I just love her so much. 💚 I go back and forth about which one I love better -- Poirot or Marple... right now, I'm in a Marple phase, I believe. Joan Hickson -- to my mind -- embodies Marple exactly. I'm always a big fan of Tommy and Tuppence and Ariadne also.
With Agatha Christie, the devil is always in the details-those little clues she sprinkles throughout her stories are like breadcrumbs leading you down a winding path. Just when you think you've solved the mystery, she flips the script with a twist that leaves you both impressed and slightly embarrassed you didn't see it coming. And Agatha Christie's brilliance shines through in each of her masterpieces, from the mind-bending twist in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd to the chilling suspense of And Then There Were None. She transforms a simple train ride in Murder on the Orient Express and a serene cruise in Death on the Nile into intricate puzzles where everyone's a suspect. Her debut novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introduces us to the meticulous Hercule Poirot, while The Murder at the Vicarage gives us the sharp-witted Miss Marple, both of whom navigate their way through crimes as cozy as they are deadly. Christie's ability to create tension in the most idyllic settings is unparalleled, making her the undisputed Queen of Crime. For me, Agatha Christie is the ultimate mystery writer her books are the first ones i reach for when I want a puzzle i can't put down.( Ig I've yapped enough)
For me, they are the ultimate comfort reads, all year long. She has books for every season and she always manages to get me out of a reading slump! And you can yap all day, I don't mind one bit 😊
@@cafeaulivre You've actually answered a question I was going to ask. What is the perfect Christie book for a newbie to her work to start with. Strange considering how many film and TV adaptations of her work I've seen from Margaret Rutherford to Joan Hicks as Miss Marple alone. Will definitely give And Then There Were None a try. Especially so considering how much I like the 1985 film Clue which parodies the Christie standard tropes so well and has been a guilty pleasure watch of mine for many years. Worth it for Madeline Kahn alone 👍
@@adrianmcmahon5731 And after that, it really depends on whether you are more of a Poirot or a Marple fan, I guess. If you want more recommendations, I have a video on that exact topic, if you're interested.
Well done. "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" is one of the books I've studied most closely--noting the introduction of each character, mapping the clues, and determining the purpose of each paragraph. Was getting down to sentence level analysis when I got distracted my some other shiny object.
I thought I had subscribed & this popped into my feed, so I have subscribed now. Not read any of the books (sorry) but familiar with some stories due to films & TV shows. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for subscribing and if you liked the tv shows like Poirot, I highly recommend picking up one of her books some time. They make for some excellent reading!
She actually started writing murder mysteries as a bet with her older sister, who already was an accomplished author and said Agatha could never write a proper mystery. 😋 Guess who won that bet 🤣

@@vickya8653 Orient Express is truly an iconic ending...and a great example of how she always manages to mislead you.
Agatha Christie was a very special person, I also read her autobiography. What a delight!

I also wish she had written more Tommy & Tuppence novels… a detective pair like them must have been quite the novel idea at the time 😊

Not read any in years but remember really enjoying them. Have got a stack now and they are in the ever growing tbr! Best wishes and happy reading.

Agatha Cristie's secret? She was a really good writer.

@@cafeaulivre Neat. Thank you.
Sadly, I never finished. Or maybe it was a fool's errand to begin with. Still have the annotated copy, I think, though I haven't seen it for a while.
Who knows, one day 😊
