I will be 25H with airborne leaving 1/3/23 stationed either NC/AK/Italy. Super excited and feeling blessed first gen soldier trying to lead a different path for my family generations to come.
I’m waiting on my waiver, but I want 25H as well.
You can actually go to a lot more places than that! AK was my first duty station. But there are Special Forces/Special Ops units around the world you can get stationed in. I’m 25H SSG. Hope you get to live the SOF life. Good luck! AATW!
I'm also joining as a 25H with airborne! I leave Dec 27 but according to my contract basic doesn't start until Jan 3 so I'll see you there !!
Just left Jackson last week. I’ll be getting to Gordon the same day you leave. Then airborne after.
@@gkidcolumbus1806 Congrats !! How was basic with all the cold weather?
Homie did a 16 min / unscripted video full of nothing but tips and knowledge. FIRE!!
Yes I love this one by yourself!! I’m going in as a 25b august 30th I can’t wait to go!!
Great stuff keep it up!
I was with E 369 for AIT in 1993 You guys have it so much better now! Your barracks are practically brand new. We didn't have bathrooms attached to our rooms or anything.
My son just arrived there today. Thanks for the video share
So much change. I went to the MP School at Ft Gordon in fall of 1971 before leaving for Nam. We had the old white wooden two story barracks.
I was stationed at Gordon with the USAF attachment during SATCOM advanced training 1982-1983
I’ll be in Ft Gordon for AIT, which is cool because I actually live 4 minutes away so I’m basically gonna be back home which will be dope at 5+
just found your channel and i will be watching everything since I ship out to BCT july 25 to fort jackson and then AIT at fort Gordon
Thank you!! Sounds good! Let me know if you have any questions
I leave for Fort Jackson same day as you
@@mrquick7216 ah cool, maybe we will see each other then
It was almost like college when I was there back in 2006. My uncle was my 1SG so that made it a bit better. Phase 5+ was GOAT.
Uncle as 1SG had to be nice 😂… 5+ was def college vibes
I've enjoyed my time in Ft. Gordon back in March 2021 👍
I was there in the fall of 1985.. 31M, C-5-1... Ran Barton Field every single day.
Shipping on 07/11 for Jackson and then Gordon for 25H. Thank you for this video!!! 🙏🏼
My son just left Jackson. Best of luck
Good luck to you DanBlanco. I was in the army 1980-1983. Greatest time of my life, although I didn't really know it at the time. It took a lifetime of perspective to look back and realize how special my time in the army really was.
How has it been going for your first year in the Army.
@@pep590 Honestly, not as bad a people would paint. Got to my unit in March and it’s been okay so far. I can see the BS people talk about but I can’t complain because my basics needs are met.
@@danblanco Good for you! Happy for you. Outstanding.
You seem like a good Soldier and will do well when you get to your unit. Stay humble, stay focused, work hard and you'll be a Sergeant in no time.
Thank you!
I had 31J (Radio-Teletype operator) AIT at Gordon in 1981. It was no different than being in a regular unit. No phases, no battle buddies, no DS.
Radio Teletype operator MOS is (was) 05C. I know because that was my MOS. It was old technology back then (I was in 1980-1983), and the army dropped it in the late 80's. 31J was a "teletype repairer".
Anyway, yea, we had no phases, no battle buddies (wtf is that?), no DS. I have no idea what DFAC is, we simply called it the mess hall, or the chow hall. We lived in 8 man rooms, steel cots, steel lockers, communal bathrooms and showers. Once I got to "permanent party" in Fulda, West Germany (11th ACR, Black horse!) I lived off post so I had separate rations. If I ate at the mess hall, which I rarely did, breakfast was 50 cents, lunch and dinner were $1.50. Man, how times have changed!
In 1983 I went from USAR to RA and reclassed from 31J to 16S. Stricter than Gordon but not by much for a prior service.@@wixom01
I won't say you always have it easy and I'm an old timer. In the late 70's at AIT, there were no phases as we could change into civvies and go off post immediately. So we had that so much better than you all do. Your barracks are much nicer as we had old wooden ones with latrines at the end of the hall and no fast-food places on post, just the mess hall as we called it and the bowling ally. Good plus's from both eras. I love the internet and cell phones so wish we had those then. WE had to hit the pay phone with a pocket full of quarters, but again some parts of life was simpler back then so both have their plus and minuses. Great video and thanks for the info.
Watched your video before I went to bct and now Im going to AIT today
Nice! Wasn’t that bad right!? AIT is gonna be 10x more chill
@@realkevinellis too easy, just not excited about that 6 month training time for 25B. Appreciate your vids for real bro.
@@realkevinellis question someone in the comments said that when we report on Friday they're going to tell us to come back Sunday is that what I should expect. It's all been extremely vague. Thank you again
@@noahwalsh8426 if you go gov then you’re gonna stay but if you’re pov I think you can report by Sunday night… that’s how it was for me.. I went gov, got there on Friday and just chilled for the weekend
Heyo sorry for asking this super late, but Im going to Gordon January 4th. What are acceptable items to have there? I got Vacation Block Leave right after basic training so a list of dos and donts would be helpful. Especially on the electronics side.
You can basically have anything you want… no vapes… everything else is on the table
I was there 2007 Charlie 369 25L looks exactly the same as then. Good luck PFC.
Was in delta 369 as a 25u in 2008
They completely remodeled those buildings. I was in Bravo 447 and we used to call the 369 barracks the ghetto lol. This is my hometown so I went to the base to see what it looks like now and it's night and day difference.
Thank you. We just dropped off our son and we didn’t know the rules and no one explained anything when we arrived. The soldiers didn’t know they had the weekend free. It was all so disorganized. The soldiers were told on to report on Friday and the drill sergeants at Fort Gordon said to come back on Sunday. Weird. No one said anything about buying linens, soaps, cleaning supplies, ect. But thank Goodness the soldiers on base told us what to do before the 3pm drop off on Sunday. I wish I saw this video before. Anyway, Thank you for all the info. Keep it up.
I'm going today so when I get there they're going to tell me to come back Sunday?
@@noahwalsh8426 not sure what they will tell you. Just be ready for the what if. You might be able to have that choice and to sign in today or they might tell you to come back. But definitely bring the above goods. That’s what we had to do. Also, bring a comforter. Don’t bring food to eat later. It’s not allowed. Eat well before you get there. Good luck.
Is it possible for you to become a national Guard ground force right after BCT and AIT?
Bro I may reclass to this mos, is it worth it? How you like your job now that you get to your duty station? Please help me understand if I should go 25b or 25H. Thanks buddy and be the best you can be ;)
How does visitors work in ait? Can you help me out on that? Leaving to Gordon in 2 days!
A about to ship to basic and Leonard wood then too Gordon for 17e!
Fort Gordon is a hellscape good luck
I got station of choice and got 25bravo I ship out to AiT in 2 days🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi i’m a little late also, but my boyfriend will be at Fort Gordon from March-August will I be able to visit him?
Are you with C551? Not sure if 25Q are still under C551 or not it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been at Gordon. Dec 2008
I guess they used to
Be c369 but changed to b551 shortly before I arrived
Idk what 25 series I want. I was in for 25U for my weight and physical fitness made me leave during basic. Going back soon I hope but idk if I wanna do 25B what. 25 series for sure. if anyone has any advise lmk. Im hoping to be cyber security or data analysis in the civilian world.
What’s it like there ? Dis you all have reclass( MOS-T soldiers? Y’all had ncos in class? Do ncos that reclass there live in hotels ?
Hey I’m very curious how many credits you were acquired after AIT? (Between Bootcamp & AIT). Are you able to talk about the applicable courses you learn?
I’ll get back to you on that, I just registered for school and had them transferred, I wanna say 5 from basic and 5 from Ait but I’ll get the exact numbers when I get back to my desk… things like physical fitness, land nav, cpr are on the list for sure… give me a bit
Also I was in basic with a blackshear!
@@realkevinellis Thanks for the quick response! I’ll definitely will be looking out for your response. 👍🏽
46 credits for 25B, my college FIU took all of them
Hey Kevin. Hope you are able to get this.
I’m going BT in a few weeks as an E4 25U. I want to pursue an officer path and be relatively prepared for any civ opportunities post AIT. Long story short, what certifications do you high recommend I look into now and while I’m at AIT. (Such as IT, Data warehouse, etc.) thanks for the content
Sec+, CCNA
But also, don’t stress too much about the future… I would first focus on removing stress and maybe start some extra PT and running now!
Much appreciated! Similar to you I’m going in at 34. Thankfully I do make an effort to stay fit. I was able to keep my 2 mile at 15 min and PT is actually something I am looking forward to as well as the connections and helping others along the journey.
Your vid’s and others as well have helped me prepare better and even consider making content to help others as well. Much appreciated
Going to Gordon on the 4th of Jan. How are the weekends when you first get there? Do you get weekends off at Phase 4? Thanks brotha! Im a 25 Bravo as well
Nice man. Yeah weekends are pretty chill. Saturday you’ll do manual labor most likely but you don’t have class. Pt is pretty light if even
@@realkevinellis So sundays are pretty much all to yourself? Also thanks for the info xD. Was just wondering if i got time to watch anime and game when im there haha.
@@asianwaifu4149 lol yes you will def have time for that!
@@realkevinellis haha nice hope that boingo wifi is good xD.
I went to Ft Gordon for AIT, as a 31Romeo,20 years ago. The best part about it was phase 5. Because, they let us go to the bar, and stay in a hotel over the weekend. Serious parties happened in the hotel room. Over the 4 months of training, I got laid from 3 girls in my class.😏
Haha, that's funny to hear. It's changed a lot from when you were conducting training. It's much more depressive and boring. You're permitted to go to a handful of stores at phase 5+ and even then you need to sign out so Drill Sergeant can come check on you. Where I spent most of my time was in the barracks. The stores we could go to was the food market and PX. It got boring after the first few visits. A lot of my Drill Sergeants said the same thing while I was there, that we don't have the freedom that the generations before us did and that they felt sorry for us. Luckily my Senior Drill Sergeant gave me an excellent piece of advice that would help me make the best of AIT. He said to me "Don't get caught."
I heared the stories from one of my drill sergants that AIT soldiers from there would go to the Holiday Inn outside base and buy the whole strip surrounding the pool area in the hotel and would get fucked up during the weekend haha🤣
@@SeraphimVolkerwhy they changed?
I went there for AIT from September 1998 to February 1999ait was a lot more annoying than basic because it was longer for one and secondly they kept teasing you with your freedom. I never really like the idea that certain five week AIT‘s got to go to permanent party and treated as such after a short time yet because we picked a longer MOS we had to be treated as trainees for six extra months versus a few weeks for other jobs
25U Heading there literally today 😭
What's the easiest carrer to choose from after AIT?
Depends on what your MOS is. Usually with 25 series you can get into networking or network security.
Are they speeding up the classes? Like if they are 20 weeks you'll finish in 17weeks?
All depends on how many ppl taking the class
tips on being a 25U i should be enlisting this tuesday and i ship out august 15
Yes switch to 25q! No I’m kidding, don’t know too much about uniforms but you will be a signal soldier so that’s all that matters! You’re going to love it
Im 25u too…i ship out Aug 8
@@realkevinellis i already have a reservation for 22U i technically could still switch but… haha thank you for replying
@@peezy1184 hopefully i can see you
Do I need to phase up to use the on base gym? Or can i use it when I’m phase 4?
I’m 25u if that info helps the question I’m asking
Yes unfortunately you’ll have to phase up to use the gym! But you can still get some with morning PT and you should
be able to sign out kettle bells or weights… I took advantage of being able to hit laps around the barracks too.. you should be able to sign out for personal pt… but no gym… kind of weird but that’s how it is
Any idea how ait goes for a 17c mos I’m going to be there late september
You’re gonna be there for almost a year but you guys hardly do PT and roll deep in formations and marching
@creepershaft3051 Yooo me too i leave july 11th for basic
Just found out it’s no longer 25U anymore and I lost station of choice
So what happens now? You have to change ?
Would it be a good idea to bring a Nintendo switch? Anything you'd recommend to bring, I gotta go to fort girdon for ait on the 3rd I'm on block leave so I'm just trying to figure what I can take
Yes lots of guys had their switches… I would bring a laptop and a cac reader… maybe some cash… you basically have all of your freedoms there after a while though so you can buy whatever you need if you don’t have it.:: yes on switch haha
@@realkevinellis bet man, I'm gonna have to buy a laptop at some point, I know it's not a good idea to bring a desktop setup
me too man
A lot of people will be selling things for the low too, for like laptops and gaming systems… when they getting ready to leave they sell it usually. Oh I kind of miss it
@@realkevinellis how does the roommate situation usually work?
Phase 4 challenge
On the bus to Gordon rn
Good luck!!!
Did you get to have your phone?
Yes
You said nothing about 25h ait. Responsibility of the job. What you learn.?
Well I tried to keep it general because my mos does not exist anymore. 25q changed to 25h also, in the interest of opsec, I didn’t talk about what I learned as it relates to the actual job. Feel free to hmu on ig for some answers to any questions you might have @realkevinellis
@@realkevinellisI report today by 1700. I'll find out soon enough. But I'd still like to maybe talk to you a little more. The more info and know how's the better
I wish i could know about 25H more too. I am trying to reclass and not really finding informations about that specific mos
