Russia has nothing it can do to counter any form of western support for Ukraine. They are already spending more than 10% of their GDP while the west spends barely anything. They cannot punish the west in any way. All the trump cards they had have already been played. It's only a matter of time until the west realizes that they can do anything they want.
The problem is UK, Germany & France still think they are the military powers they used to be during the colonial period. They should accept the fact that that era is gone. They don't have the resources to match a huge country like Russia without their colonies. In fact they are almost entirely dependent on the USA to provide security for them. Until they accept this truth and honestly negotiate with Russia they won't be safe.
Few weeks ago everyone thought when the 60 billions is released Ukraine will start winning, that didn't happen. Now all hope is pinned on their ability to use western weapon to strike inside Russia. Russia had no say in that. It was still CCCP at the time. Russia started to exist official as a state on 1 Jan 1992 after CCCP was scraped. Germany reunited in 1990. But they would still have no say in the matter. It would just had meant that NATO would have gone to war with Russia and totally annihilator them in the 90's. Back then CCCP and later Russia's economy was totally broken, to the point that they could not even pay salaries to their own government officials. The weapons have already been used to attack Russia proper before this announcement. Some NATO countries are already active in providing crucial satellite data and intelligence and special forces support without which Ukraine would not be able to fight the war at all or attack inside Russia proper.

Russia had no say in that. It was still CCCP at the time. Russia started to exist official as a state on 1 Jan 1992 after CCCP was scraped. Germany reunited in 1990. But they would still have no say in the matter. It would just had meant that NATO would have gone to war with Russia and totally annihilator them in the 90's. Back then CCCP and later Russia's economy was totally broken, to the point that they could not even pay salaries to their own government officials. The cold war had totally broken them by trying to keep up with USA and NATO. They would have committed suicide by trying to deny anyone anything back then.

Ukrainian territory was included in the Soviet design for their nuclear early warning system- That is the only reason why Russia will never allow them to join NATO. If you stick a long range weapon in that zone- it leaves them totally defenceless
