Can confirm. Lived abroad for the last 15ish years (including hellholes like London) and cane back to Germany a year ago. My flat isn't even fully furnished yet and im already planning to leave again. I felt safer in London than here. Let that sink in. The knife crime capital of the world was safer than a random small German city.

No one is claiming the tool is the problem. The problem is the presence of the tool and how easy it is for bad actors to get access to them. It is true that restrictions on knives do not eliminate all knife attacks, but you are hiding the fact that those restrictions have reduced knife attacks. Reducing crime is better than tiptoeing around the feelings of weapons and pretending that their presence is not part of the problem. I mean the government even promised to have tighter immigration laws but they obviously failed miserably. But the real issues started 2015. Germany had a lot of people with a immigration background before that, but most of them were integrated well and lived in Germany for years. With regards to shootings and stabbings in the US, well its a normal daily occurrence so its not really newsworthy enough to become international news unless its a really big incident. The interesting thing is that in Europe, the US and Canada the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by the same few demographics of people across all these nations who are almost always not native to those nations.

Seems probable motive should be simple to determine: were the victims known to the attacker? (seems not) were the victims only of certain political persuasion (probably not). If answer is no to both, motive seems clear with a bit of thinking. “Safe” … compared to what? Metro Manila has had 728 physical injury incidents in the first half of 2024 alone. This doesn’t count numbers for the rest of the Philippines.
The local newspapers are happy to report that assaults are down 19% from the previous year, and that 5 incidents a day is a huge leap forward 😅
