"The grittiness of this film validates me as an adult for liking a children's fantasy series"
timmytime That was the dagger in the heart of my manchildhood.
That's breaking bad for me, of course excluding the "children fantasy" part
I wanna go out of a star wars movie and cry
That's gonna be on the Blu Ray box.
Mommy, why did the robot die?
now this is podcasting

Sweet
That's the funniest fucking comment I've ever read on UA-cam.
William Shatner watched this thinking it was a real. That’s the best part
Really gets the ol' noggin' joggin'
Knowing this adds so much to the Red Letter mythos.
To be fair, there are podcasts like this and he didn't have any prior knowledge of these guys other than him having a bunch of star trek fans bombard him with "you should do these guys show."
Shatner is a legend...
👊
Shatner is old man don't laugh at him 😇
Rewatching all nerdcrew today feels so great
This aged better than the entire starwars fandom
The hack frauds are true savants
Wish they could do more, its hilarious
Very much so😊
Very cool
And the MCU fandom, for that matter.
everyone is entitled to their own ppinion but me personally loved this video.

Adrian Profir because they fail to understand, that this is a sarcastic skit of themselves.
Alluviale Daempfer it broke new ground

Me, personally, I loved this podcast.
takes place in an amazing vista
I think this is a very important podcast, possibly the most important podcast. And a podcast that won't be forgotten for the next 50 - maybe the next 100,000 years.
Meep ersonally I entirely discounted podcasting as a medium until I saw this panel of insightful and enjoyable lowlife shitfaces.
AESTHETICS
It's so dense, it has so much depression and mug slurping going on. Every single frame has a slurpital effect.
I feel like the level of satire here is too high-level for most viewers to appreciate.
This satire is so spot-on that I actually found myself subconsciously doing other stuff while they drone on, just like the actual podcasts they're trashing.
So high level that it is in fact parody, not satire :P
They're synonyms.
They really aren't.
Antsy
They are, sorry. The words are synonyms, any different meaning you think they have is in your head. Your attempt at being a pedant has failed.
I feel like Mike and Jay talked through this and loosely drafted it, then pulled Rich on set at the last second without telling him anything
And he played his role to perfection
@@dodojesus4529 I didn't expect anything less from a big Hollywood celebrity like Rich Evans, from such shows as "The Ellen Show"
I'm rich evans and I'm a giant pile of horseshit LMFAO
Romano Coombs Back in the 90s...I was in a very famous-AAAAAIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDSSSSSS!
I'm dying, fuck, every little detail is parodied to perfection.
Pallid85
Do you know what exactly they're parodying though? I couldn't quite grasp it
Most youtube reviews of Rogue One? The way they handle themselves is from Collider VIdeos, NerdCrate is from half of podcasts and reviews, etc.
Im pretty sure its Collider's Jedi Council.
pretty sure they are parodying screen junkies
Collider Movie Talk.
Man, I just hope Rich Evans wins the fight against his diabetes depression...
Max Mustermann it must be crippling for him. poor guy
Max Mustermann I truly do because we need more vids like this
That's impossible. The diabetes prevents you from eating nice food which depresses you and then you're so depressed you overeat and become fat which gives you more diabetes and the whole cycle begins again. It's only a matter of time.
We'd also like to thank our third sponsor: Depression Crate.
Major Depressive Diabetes.
The way they talk directly into the mic is so annoyingly accurate.
@@minusonegamer2884 Its called "proximity effect"...it makes your voice sound deeper and fuller. Sometimes you want that, sometimes you don't. Its not a set in stone rule.... for instance in radio and broadcasting the proximity effect is desirable. Its why Howard Stern has such a deep voice on the radio but when you see him in interviews on TV hes got a squeaky little voice.
@@minusonegamer2884 and then you'd have a bunch of microphone bleed
@@apesidewv8187 Sure, maybe. But in this case, it's supposed to parody the insufferable cunts who try to give themselves an air of validity by talking too close to the microphone.
If you can't feel their breathing through the speakers their not close enough
I like talking close to the mic
Is Rich having diabetes a joke, or is it actually canon?
don't forget that crippling depression, too
Only in the RedLetterMedia Expanded Universe.
life expectancy of HIV on appropriate meds may actually be better than poorly controlled diabetes type II.
It's fanon, not canon, IIRC.
Silvagunner, Captain of the Ruse Cruise dammit I have to delete my comment. you got to eu joke first haha

Your parody videos are infuriating because of how on the nose they are. Everything they say is so stupid yet hundreds of clickbait channels such as looper will unironically say the exact same things. If it wasn't RLM then many probably wouldn't even be able to notice that it's a parody. Brilliant.
Geeeee8 I think this was more taking the piss out of channels like Collider rather than Looper b
I avoid those channels like the plague so I wouldn't know. The sad thing is that you KNOW that they have an influence. That's why it drives me crazy.
MARVEL, DC AND STAR WARS, its insane how many channels can talk about these three fucking things every week for years, and yet people still watch and listen to them like they are saying anything new.
It digusts me how they've helped degrade these cultural icons and turned timeless classics into mediocre, trend chasing shit. That's why I personally liked Rouge one more than FTA is that it had less cliche bullshit. It still had FAR too much though.
The only podcast about this stuff worth listening to is The Weekly Planet.
I can't stop looking at a TIE Fighter perpetually bouncing off of Rich Evans' head.
The TIE Fighter's the key to all this.
That's the action and ships you are familiar with in stunning vistas.
REMEMWBER TIE FOGHTERS!?
I can't stop looking at Rich Evan's beautiful eyes.
It's in some form of motion the entire time. lul
I actually would listen the FUCK out of a RLM podcast.
I was super sad when I figured out what they were doing about 4 minutes in... :/
Keeleon Ohms wtf man it's obvious satire from the third sentence
Mitch Gosser they have movie "watch along commentaries" on the band camp site. those are pretty fun to listen to.
Overall, this crew is hilarious. Their commentaries are pretty solid and it would be great if they did more like this!
Previously Recorded?
The only thing i love about the new star wars extended universe is that there will be more red letter media videos about star wars
You're in the Red Letter Media Expanded Cinematic Universe, now!
Yes, preach!!
4 Rogue One videos in 2 weeks? You guys really hate this fuckin' movie.
Nope, they thought it was just fine, the more RLM, the better
fuckwad I disagree. It suckin' fucks!
Richard Cano they are making fun of the fanboys that take perks from Disney in exchange for positive reviews. Sites like Collider NEED to be made fun of. It's not even so much about the movie but the people that are corporate whores
Maintenance Renegade they made that episode in a far, far more antagonistic light than they ever do with any other HITB so of course that was going to be the reaction
MILKING IT
Anyone else think Mike and Jay were competing to see who could make Rich break???
I think that's every video.
That's RLM in a nutshell. In the end of the day, it all started just cause mike wanted to make rich laugh. Decades later, not much has changed.
@Marie-Oliver Delacroix underrated
To break Rich?! Don't they know that he has Depressive diabetes ... maaaan!
@@liaspooked4980 Is that true?
I don't understand how these guys have less subscribers then all the other movie review channels - chris stuckmann, angry joe, etc. nothing against them but red letter media is so much better IMO
well, your answer is this video, they make content like this.
Tom Tom no circle jerk content
Some people actually like movies
Tom Tom because red letter media requires some intelligence to enjoy ;)
Tom Tom its not that surprising. If you look at Angry Joe for instance he's a clear example of someone who attempts to appeal to everyone and the actual opinions are buried quite deep.
It's so dense, every single frame has so much sarcasm going on.
Brendan McCallion Every single frame is sarcasticly edited!
It's stilistically designed to be that way, but they could've tried to diminish effects of it.
VERY cool
This was pure art.
... I don't know if non-stop sarcasm is 'pure art', unless of course your just being sarcastic as well. In which case, I think your comment was pure art.
It's like poetry. They rhyme, sort of.
Just like Rogue One
personally, I loved your comment
It was, and hanging the Tie fighter there had to be Mike's decision. XD
“Possibly rivaling Empire but at the very least equal to it” is such an underrated line lmao
Lol, I never noticed that until just now.
Underrated by whom? What's its current rating?
In your opinion, of course.
Which I too agree with.
11.5/5.9 innmy opinion.
I love that their mock intro is better than most 'nerd podcasts' actual openings.
Also they aren't just dissing rogue one fan boys, but general commerical nerd culture and it's delicious. Only thing I wanted was for all the excessive nerd toys and posters around them to multiply between shots until they are drowning in it.
Oh fuck, that's brilliant! But maybe only Rich being smothered. (No offense Rich, I luv you man!) >D
Gweryl Beynon This was hilarious. However I am kinda sick of being insulted for being a Star Wars fan on this channel. If they don't like the movie, fine. But they say people that do are like idiots and neckbeards and thats just dumb and not true
Kristopher Poulsen Hmm maybe I misheard them in their Half in the Bag.
Brad Wright I mean yeah a bit, but it's just kinda RLM doing what they do - they like to poke fun at themselves (they are very much SW fans - I mean just look at rich, LOOK at him) and the increasingly ridiculous culture that surrounds anything 'geek'.
It's always been kinda ridiculous but lately it's mutated in the swampy depths of the Internet to become this monetized, often overly serious...crazy hype circus - that swings between frenzied pumping up of a new product or film one week and then damning it into obscurity for its smallest of faults the week after.....(The later of which they are probably all to aware they helped create with Plincett.)...It's a culture where fully grown adults are paid to sit around a desk and discuss Kylo Ren's cross guard like it's the Cuban missile crisis. Where orgiastic crowds of people scream at trailer footage of the millennium falcon like the 2nd coming Just popped out of someone's balls and started the rapture. I mean there's nothing wrong with all that really, people need to get paid and people like to get excited about things - it's just ripe for parody...until we learn to laugh at ourselves and take it all a bit less seriously.
I mean fuck it I am definately a man child - If my wife walks into the room and catches me watching Dragonball - I pull the chord, hold my hands up in the air and 'admit' it was midget porn.
Gweryl Beynon I think this is a great way to put it. I don't know if I fully believe they are Star Wars fans, but everything you've said is perfect
I wonder what the guys from Collider Video think when they see this
Don't think they care...
John Campea was afraid to watch it at first, but then he decided to watch it and thought it was funny.
How did you guys know? Did they make a video or article about it? Curious.
Christopher Aquino He talked about it in his latest mail bag video.
Checking that now. Thanks.
Is Rich's crippling diabetes replacing his crippling depression?
both...
Vyacheslav Molotov is his crippling depression replacing his crippling lonliness?
I hope so, Better Rich loses both legs than we lose Him.
I thought it was his AIIIDDDDDSSSSS!!!
It's crippling depression caused by his crippling diabetes and the fact that he's a giant pile of horse shit.
Rich Evans was a loquacious, articulate, jovial, well adjusted man until he was repeatedly bashed in the head with a tie fighter.
It's on Wookiepedia, it's gotta be true.
Was the TIE pilot a Wudu?
Don’t forget “handsome”
"Rich, were you talking about the tone?"
"No, it was very hard to see."

"The grittiness of this movie validates me as an adult who likes a children's fantasy series. I can watch Star Wars now, I don't have to feel bad, I don't have to feel like a child, I don't have to feel deeply ashamed."
Fucking perfect. A lot of fanboys seem to forget why they even liked something in the first place. They're so insecure about liking something that appeals to a wider audience than they want to admit, that they want to put it through a grimdark filter until it doesn't feel like the same thing anymore.
You sir, are exactly right. Star Wars has to be bland and depressing now? Fuck that.
Personally, i loved this episode!
Personally, I also loved this episode.
I personally love this podcast. I give it 8 vistas out of 10.
TROGLO BYTE well that is your opinion, and while I do respect your opinion i feel that I loved it even more than you did. I like really felt a deep connection to its sincere message that all movies are to be loved blindly especially if someone says that you should. That's just my personal opinion though. I'm sure you have your own thoughts on this which I do respect ofcourse.
Full disclosure, I was invited to the early screening of this episode on the promise that I would blindly praise it, and personally, it's the best podcast I've ever seen.

"I mean people say to the military 'thank you for your service' all that bullshit... They probably had a general outline, but I imagine most of it was improv, with the end goal being to make Rich break out in laughter.

Satirical jokes are funnier when you know the subject they're satirizing, yes.
The problem for me is that I really don't want to watch the channels they're satirizing.

Just ordered the new Geek Crate™ ! I am such a nerd, that no matter what I get I will love!!!!
Upvote if you also ordered one!
Jakoo What about nerdbox? I personally, love it more
Wait till you see this month's Nerd Box, it's awesome.
WOW another collab short and a pop funko. AWESOME!!!!!
Jakoo upvote? this aint reddit cuz
Nerd Box is a cheap knockoff of the Geek Crate™. They're like Whoopie Cushion™ and FartBag
this is so fucking perfect
thankyou ♥
Wilburgur i love u ;-;
HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE HIGH ELVES?!
Satire is great and all but 3 videos about RO in a row? Seems like you simply can't let it go, or something.
Four
Bailing Baker they are known for Star Wars dumbass
It's a joke.
I guess it's because they care about star wars. It's always been a big deal on the channel
TheGoldenCaulk you're a fucking nerd
I personally feel bad for anyone who doesn't realize this is satire.
Colin Smith me, personally
personally me, this film me love
I feel bad for anyone who thinks this is clever satire.
Dan Fors *assburgers
I think everyone knows exactly what "this" "is"!
I love Rogue One, but this is hilarious and is completely spot on to certain reviewers. Still disagree with the fan service argument. But, sadly, now we have a new RLM meme of, 'Me Personally'. Oh no.
It has begun.
StarfighterX1 me personally, i thought the movie was just really good.
Slightly. Collider didn't say it was as good or better than Empire. Kevin Smith did, idiot.
True.
Me personally, I am leaving a comment on this webzone
A film that wont be forgotten for 50 maybe 100 thousand years
Probably the best line in the episode lol
I always hear "grandma Tarkin".
Ričardas Marozas great! thanks for that visual
You've shared with us a great gift
Yeah, me too!
Huh? The what are they saying?
Grand Moff Tarkin
man you guys are really hung up over people's comments on the rogue one review
J Schippnick
It's satire.
I can handle it, its why I'm subbed to them. But I agree that this either means that the comments are getting to them....or they only care about abusing their conflicting audience for views.....both are kind of shitty in my opinion.
JaykSzarii im not a big fan of star wars my dude
Maybe it's because people confuse face and opinion. Some people can't handle others disagreeing with them. I'm glad RLM is tackling this. They are the right guys to do it. They have great insight and the thick skin to take the heat. People are getting out of control with this faux outrage. It's a movie. Why do you care if someone hated it? You probably don't own stock in Disney so it's financial performance has zero bearing on your life.
RLM will NEVER show up at Screenjunkies (their debate show) that's for sure!
(since I rarely watch Collider - and double checked - it looks like a direct copy but the in-your-face merch pile which reminded me of SJ)
They already have
Nightstalker314 Jay already did
But not on their "debate" show. Jay has only been there for some ranking video. The way this video is framed/set up it's basically a mockery of such a format.
twice
And I have no problem with that. Screenjunkies is fun, but they pander a bit too much.
The RLM people are honest and I appreciate that, even though I don't always agree with them.
5 years later with Kenobi just airing I have to say this aged beautifully.
"Are you being sarcastic, dude?"
"I don't even know anymore..."
Old Simpsons. Respect.
Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974, it's a scientific fact.
Grand. Funk. Railroad.
bong ratteling bass
“I am Rich Evans, and I am a giant pile of horse shit.” is one of the best intros of all time.
ROTFLMAO here, great parody of bought out review channels
please upload the outtakes!
The ten-year-old me would burst into tears if I told him that in 2016 there would be a Star Wars movie that I would not buy on DVD because I just don't care.
Max Mustermann even worse, not watch on Netflix because it's so boring
And what would ten-year-old me say if I told him, in 2017, there’ll be a Star Wars movie so bad you’ll want to burn the DVD.
Same here, Niven42.
rotz 2.0 You’re late to the party.
No u.
Yeah, they should remake Episode 4 and make C3PO's arm red but do a trench run and have a Death Star again. They could call it Force Strikes Back, no Force Awakens - because it was sleeping. That will be great. Make sure to have a bunch of funny one liners too. That will make me giggle while I'm eating my popcorn.
They're fucking reveling in it and I love it. You know they're cracking up after every cut.
The ending was pretty much a giveaway, when Rich just dies of laughter after the introduction of their second sponsor.
This is a masterclass of trolling. Keep it up boys.
I forget how low key the first one was. I really like the over-the-top later episodes, but I also really like the slower pace of this first one
the later ones really ramp the sarcasm to 100 and i love that, but this one is real lowkey and it’s great
And it works better because a lot of people genuinely were offended that they didn’t like Rogue One, them playing it low key makes it strike even closer to home
I loved it, personally.
The later ones are like that to make obvious that they're being sarcastic. And even then some still misunderstand it.
The later ones aren’t as good because they keep doing the “lack of likable characters is a minor aspects of a film” type joke which is super on-the-nose sarcasm as opposed to the relatively more subtle jokes in this one. Episode 2 is also a masterpiece.
RedLetterMedia will go down in history of UA-cam as the prime entertainers and critics. how can they be so good at pointing out the corrupt idiots, making valid points, teaching us about movies and culture AND be this fucking hilarious. hats off to you guys.
Will this replace Collider Movie Talk?
We can only hope.
out of the two identical comments you posted here, this one was the less popular.
Loool i thought it didnt post the first time
In an ideal world it would. Those fanboy turds at collider worship anything MCU/Star Wars. Hell, they voted Rogue One and Civil War over Arrival, The Nice Guys and Hacksaw Ridge. Those fools have shit taste and are completely blinded by their fanboy boners constantly cumming in their eyes.
It's A™ New™ Hope™ Disney™
"This movie will not be forgotten in the next 50-100 thousand years" nearly made me spit my shit out laughing
You were drinking shit?
@@arfarfarf256 you beat me to it by 3 weeks… 😂
I read this comment before they got there in the video and still laughed so hard😂😂😂😂 thank u
I love how this first episode is pretty tame but by the end, they became more and more of the caricature.
And Collider still managed to out-cringe them in sincerity.
geek crate sent me AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIDS!!!!!
Andrew Lambrix mine was filled with juicy Shaq meat
This is a level of sarcasm I aspire to
Is this replacing a conversation with max landis?
Is this joke replacing original comedy.
I forgot how… _restrained_ their Nerd Crew set was in the early days
Is it me or did Mike inject a little bit of John Campea into his voice?
Lol yes a little bit.
He's definitely channeling Campea's essence through method acting. Me personally, I loved his performance.
Shoutouts to St. Vincent avatar.
Andreas Nordvall agreed, he should get an Oscar. You know what else should get an Oscar? Whatever 6/10 superhero movie people liked the most this year!
TJ Hastie Yes it was so perfect😂😂
5 seconds in: "Oh maybe they're doing like a serious podcast this time around"
10 seconds in: "HAH THIS IS THE BEST"
Perfect reconstruction of events.
I tried to watch the Collider review after this and I lasted about 90 seconds before I couldn't take it seriously.
Same! Now, whenever I feel the need to cringe, I'll watch the comparison videos out there comparing Collider (and others) to Nerd Crew... But I have to watch through my fingers, it's just so painful!
I re-watch this series all the time to remind myself that there are sane human beings on the planet
I literally got a tear in my eye reading this. Yeah, it's so true
