I love how the skirmishers used great battle tactics attacking from all directions and surprisingly the jackals. That's what saved them from loosing all the rounds. But the jackals shields are what made the biggest difference.

Very interesting battle! For small groups, the Jackals' shields allowed them to receive less hits than they were dealing out, preventing the Skirmishers from moving around; however, when you increased the numbers significantly, the Skirmishers had a better chance to flank the Jackals (rendering their shield advantage almost useless). It reminds me a bit of 300; the only way to beat that wall of shields is to flank them. :o
Btw, thanks for doing this battle suggestion! Now that this has been done, I'll immediately revert back to my nagging suggestion of Enforcers, Heretic Leaders, and/or Regrets :D

Makes you wonder why most AI were limited to certain weapons. Skirmishes with Plasma Repeaters would have been a pain but great to fight. Hmm... Fuel Rod wielding Skirmishers?

Jackals are superior!! Anyways, here are a couple of suggestions:
Halo 2: Loyalist Covenant vs Heretic Covenant
Halo 2: Enforcers vs anything
Halo 2 or 3: Drones vs Sentinels
Halo 2 or 3: Elites, Grunts, Hunters vs Brutes, Jackals, Drones (thanks to thatonewolfguy who also suggested this.)
And Heretic Leader and/or Regret vs anything.
Or just Heretic Leader vs Prophet of Truth vs Tartarus.

The shields seem to be the reason the jackals kept winning at first, but when you raise the numbers on both sides, the jackals get destroyed every time.
We need a good ol mongoose riding through the middle of that battle ;)

Reminds me of Infection for some reason. Living players have shields (Jackals, usually). Zombie players are fast but, they don't have shields (Skirmishers, usually).

It took me a long time to warm up to these, but I'm starting to like the AI Battles, you can glean a lot of tactical information and see how complex the AI is.

You should do Jackal vs. Promethean crawlers. That would be interesting.
Here's an idea. You remember the Noble Team on Lone Wolf? well, how about you have 36 Spartans in groups, led by buffed Noble Team troops?
Front Area, below the Machine guns: Jorge and 5 other Spartans with the same gun.
Machine gun tower: Jun and Snipers.
Back of the middle building: Six and his Spartans with Rocket Laucher, Spartan Laser, ARs, and a Grenade Launcher.
Right Flank: Carter and DMRs.
Left Flank: Kat and Pistols and ARs.
Inside the building: Emile and Shotguns.
Also, an Elite Firefight with Militia, Army Troopers, ODSTs, and Spartans. That would be cool.
I much prefer Skirmishers over their Ruuhtian brethren, though their AI doesn't understand they shouldn't shoot needlers and plasma pistols at shields. Interesting how they sorround the regular Jackals though!

I thought the Skirmishers would be moving around more, I remember them being a lot more mobile when playing the campaign, but I guess the Jackal shields made a much bigger difference, as I don't think the enemy AI knows shooting them in the hand is their weakness. So it was always going to be a bit unfair.
You’d think the only reason Jackals we’re winning was because of shields. But then even with two handed weapons they won.

I likehow the skirmishers won in the late game because they strategically placed themselves.
some were the snipers,
some were the scouts,
and some were the berserkers.
the jackals stood in place and defended as best thsy could while getting hit from every angle, not just their shields.
I love Skirmishers.
When skirmishers actually “skirmished” they could steamroll their opposition. What lost them the earlier rounds was trying to play the defense distance game when the jackals had shields.
This is a curious and interesting show of which species of the Kig-Yar, Ruuhtain or T'vaoan (Jackals or Skirmishers) is better in this arena of combat with rapid fast attacks or the sturdy defense, both well trained snipers and only here in this understandable situation, A.I. controlled strategies rather than when the players are controlling them such as the Spartans, ODSTs, or even Sangheili warriors in multiplayer or firefight.

Seemed like the Mirmullo class of skirmisher was the game changer, their arm shields allowed them to get up close and deal damage without having to spam

For a while there I was wondering why they even bothered ever using skirms. But then critical mass was hit and it was glorious.
In the original trilogy, normal jackals could jump long distanced to avoid being hit, especially with grenades. *These Reach jackals are a lot more grounded*, but at least they still have shields and are *more organized than skirmishers*; jackals actually seem to work together more cooperatively, whilst skirmishers are more sporadic and 'random' (practically just in their own individual agendas). Still, Reach should have kept the jackal's original speed and agility, rather than making them standing targets; would still be slower than skirmishers, but would still make a difference.

Jackals specialize in defense while their Skirmisher cousins are offense based.
So the skirmishers shine over quantity not just throw a couple in there and they'd be fine. Many jackals vs many skirmishers, skirmishers win. 5 jackals vs 5 skirmishers, jackals win. Interesting really.

To summarize the video, jackals will almost always, if not always, win against small scale skirmishers. When you add more to each side however skirmishers gain the upper hand by flanking and rushing, but they do not win 100% of the time (maybe around 95% though). Jackals without shields are often efficiently flanked by skirmishers who are not sniping.
I personally like skirmishers more, as they are tied as my favorite species, even though they are a subspecies, with elites. Their maneuverability and dodges combined with high numbers of them can prove to be outright just annoying.
The shields were their biggest obstacle
seems that the Jackles have the advatage due to the resilience of their shield gauntlets, which isn't suprising to me since that is why they have them in the first place, is to protect their fragile bodies

I don't think prophet of truth, or mercy have an actually model in game except for Mercy's dead body
They exist as biped AIs on...er...the arbiter...the battle could take place right on the big empty platform the level starts on.
And yes the chairs exist with built in weapons and is usable in gameplay, but only if you are playing as a prophet. I've done it.
