  • On May 11th, 2024 for National Train Day, many people gathered around in San Carlos, California for Caltrain's 160th Anniversary celebration to take a special tour of their new Stadler KISS EMU trains that will be entering service in September 2024. The route ranging from San Francisco to San Jose Diridon (plus Tamien) is now fully electrified and soon, the remaining EMD F40PH locomotives and Nippon Sharyo Gallery coaches will be retired from service following some of the Gallery coaches which have already been in storage. This was my first time being around the new Stadler units and they look very sleek! It would be nice though if there were some other types of electric trains to be mixed in with these to give variety on the line still. It was hot when I went inside, but I still had a fun time and enjoyed seeing the interior of the new trains. You will also see some other regular Local services I happened to film during the event as well. Enjoy!
NOTE: I am sorry if there was some shakiness while filming, I do not know why I had trouble trying to film with my new 4K camera handheld sometimes.
    Thanks for watching!

ah man, these are really great. Really bright future for Caltrain, this is a huge step forward for the railroad and honestly, for all railroads in the US.
