The definition of a master builder! Your work is amazing John I think I am going to need you to come to Cornwall
Happy to do that Adam
Do you know of any landscapers with as good standards as yourself up Cheshire ways?
Brilliant video always educational and thorough such a nice guy love all his videos 👍💯
Geoff that’s good of you thank you mate
Lol can't wait for the next vid and u know why ;)
Hi i think you boys do a great job, there are so many guys out there who do poor workmanship, but you do a great job, anyhow I’m a bricky going to do a porcelain patio at home, I’m just wonder would you put a lean mix sub base or just MOT thanks
Hi Graham, thanks mate hope your well, and thanks for watching. There's a lot you could teach me, I personally try to lay on a lean mix as its simply a better job. more than happy to talk anytime
Hi Johnny, absolute craftsmanship! Quick question, would you consider using slate bullnose steps and boarder with a porcelain inlay and if so which grout would you use when grouting. All the best mate 👍keep up the fantastic work 👏
Thanks very much just trying to help.I dont like Bull nosing with Porcelain ad I find Easy Grout works well for me.
Hi Johnny how much sbr do you had to the 5-1 bed? great work by the way, love your videos
Cheer bud just a mug full mate
looks awesome, what type or band of porcelain did you use in this video?
Hi there, the porcelain in this video was Indian Porcelain I believe, the Italian and Spanish Porcelain is better but costs a little bit more, thanks for watching and stay safe.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make them all. Just a quick question about half bond laying. I’m using a 600 x 600 mm porcelain and wondering which way to lay. Do you have any videos describing how to lay half bond? Do you mark the half way mark on 1 slab and match up to the ends of the previous 2 slabs and a spacer? Just wondering if there are any tips? Thanks
Hi Bud I don’t think I do, just find the Center of the previous laid slab and what ever spacer you are using use that to mark the start of your next row, I will do a short video for you
That would be brilliant thanks 👍👍
Thanks to you I’ve been able to garner the confidence to lay my own patio. Which up to now has gone fantastic!
I’ve got a cut around a inspection chamber which is fine and I’ve made the cut 3 times now with success, however when I try to lay the slabs it always seems to break at the weak points. Any tips?
Hi Paul thank you, might be easier to talk my freind
Great detailed explanation. What is the spec of your tile saw cutter. Thanks
Thanks Robert, I am getting better at it lol, be safe
Can I ask the name/make of those dark grey edge tiles? Been looking for something like this 👍
We cut them from a contrasting colour of the main slab from Cardiff Slate & Stone
Good work Johnny 👍 how did you cut the curves in the porcelain?
With a small blade mate
Hi, great video can you please tell me what brand and name those edging blocks were please?
thanks we cut them ourselves
Layed my first porcelain patio the other day and cut everything with a 115 grinder what was the table saw you were using? I will probably buy one on the next patio. Great video as always 👍
Great to hear, I just bought the Rubi Expert wet saw
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Why is PQC so much better than the MOT type 1 stuff?
Hi bud well in theory its just a lean mix concrete but it will form a beam over the MoT if there was a failure and your bedding muck will adhere better, I use the term PQC as its a concrete suitable for paving its just anothee way of saying it but some dont like me saying it as they see things different but times change, be safe. mate
@@GreentopLandscapes so still put the MOT stuff down but then get some of this PQC over the top of that? Sorry for my ignorance.. new to this
I’m laying porcelain patio & plan is to lay patio tight against brick wall & side of house. Would you recommend leaving a gap (if yes what size) between patio & brickwork?
Hi Nick mate.. I would go 50mm maybe but no wider
@@GreentopLandscapes nice one, thank you once again. Keep these top videos coming 👍🏼
How do you prepare the ground under the sub base?
Hi Geoff, if you mean the dig? I put the same fall on the dig as the finished level of the proposed patio and use a Geo textile underlay wen I can.
What was the name of the porcelain tile? Cracking job
I cannot remember sorry Nic sosorry
Cracking job! Just come across your videos! I recognise that accent, my Mum's from Malpas 😎👌🏻👌🏻🏴
Brill thanks for watching as well
You wouldn't put type 1 down in your house so use a concrete pad for porcelain outside its more expensive but it's the right way and use a decoupling membrane as well a a ditra.
Quality work. 2 questions. Any videos of doing a step with porcelain similar to slabs in this video? and is 10% over the area the rule of thumb when ordering the slabs to cater for offcuts?
Thanks Mate, appreciate it, there is some Granite ones but no porcelain.
What method of grouting do you use?
Various options to be honest
And have u considered the blade for the stihl saw? Expensive but looks faster? Think a proper blade is £200-£300. I’m considering buying one i also have the big cutter but it’s so slow lol
Brandon thanks for watching mate, I would not use a Disc cutter for Porcelain as t fragments the end but if it works for you.
@@GreentopLandscapes porca fast blade?
Hiya pal, how long after can you walk on the paving?
Can be next day
How much does this cost just for the idea mate
What blade did u use to cut these? I tried about 4 different blades new and old also wet and dry cuts and wasn’t ever happy with cut edge.
Try a Rubi ED115 to clean the edge up mate.
There all crap mate. Best to stay away from porcelain. Blades blunt real quick. Cost of blades expensive. Apparently you can sharpen them with a wet stone...
@@jamescain7250 Hi James, best to keep cool with water and they are good, thats what i find, thanks for your interaction mate
Greentop Landscapes & Design
Na mate. Bought specialists blade for stihl saw, edges chip. Using water bottle and tried with hose. Bought a rail saw, rubi!!! Went through 3 blades in about 30 cuts for copes on wall. Returned saw stating my rights from sales of good act and was given refund on saw. Why don’t you do a video showing multiple cuts? Would be very interested to see?
Nice videos, very informative. Have you ever laid porcelain on a screed base with tile adhesive?
Great video. But I will say I don't agree with the void between the house and the tiles. In my eyes that may encourage damp. But never the less great work 👍
Thank you appreciate constructive criticism, we need to continue this conversation, stay safe
HI Greenhow. I love this video I have watched many and this is the most comprehensive, I am hoping to lay my own porcelain patio. In feet I'm afraid 12ft x 9ft I have several questions please, what thickness tile would I need to hold a rattan patio set. I have heard the expression rivand what does this refer to. Please after compacting the soil do I then spread the P.Q.C base and compact? What depth of P.Q.C would be required? Slurry mix is for back of tile S.D.R + Cement what mix please? The base mix is 5 sharp sand 1 cement ? When creating fall what sort of drop in m.m s please. Thank you very much I will continue to watch your very informative videos
Hi Aileen, many thanks. Lots of questions, probably be better to talk you through it.
@@GreentopLandscapes sorry to have bombarded you, with questions
Why 5/1 mix ?
You dont want your mix to strong as it will crack.
Get a recess cover
Love your video very helpful.. I’m going to lay a porcelain patio what depth cement bed do you use please I was going to do a 50mm bed but is that a overkill
Also what’s the pqc bed I was going to use type 1 but can you tell me what your base was in pqc please
Hi bud, thanks a lot that's nice of you you have it correct with the Mortar bed and the PQC is a lean mix which is a semidry concrete at about 12 - 1 and compacted, this will be solid.Be safe mate.
Excellent thank you is that using sharp sand? Also what thickness of cement bed do to put slaps on? Please
Thank you for quick response 👍
@@stammeringbeast7313 I always use sharp sand and no more than 50mm, try to reduce the amount of water in your mix mate let it mix gradually
Guys want a labour slash student
Actually did my garden was surprise of my self
