    Look's amazing, well done guy's. I personally don't tile patio's but have been tiling floor's for coming up to 35 years. It's proper hard work and takes a massive toll on our bodies. How you lay those tiles standing up amazes me. The problem i have is i'm 6' 4" and the floor is a long way down so have to be on my knee's. Up and down all day long and my knee's are shot. Take care of your body chaps. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.

    Buy yourself a grabo I've been using them for 3 years now bought them in America. Its fairly easy to lay that metrage a day of one size and a good laborour helps.

      Mate totally agree, but brought one for the cuts against wall where your fingers get trapped, slurry all over the tile, game changer I'm telling ya, also been using flowpoint on porcelain for years , never really happy with finished results, always few mill below tile level , because they don't soak water, lays on top even a fine spray seems to water the grout down, how you getting on with the fuga, what's the waiting times for clean off and weather conditions for using it , not licking here but top landscaper best in pool, but I'm best in Birmingham 😁

      I was wondering! If you lay sandstone in really cold climates (-6 to -12) I have hear issues of people getting frost heave due to expansion and contraction. What would you recommend we bed 900x29x3cm tiles on? Do you think a 150mm mot type 1 base is enough, with 50mm of muck? The Vickings over hear tend to lay their patios on a 30mm sharp sand base so it can move? What do you think would be the best solution based on your experience? Cheers mate! Keep up the great work!

      @@XRazorShiftyX yes mate. When flagging you want to be level in one direction ideally, nearly always across the house so it looks right on the brickwork, falling away from the house if the garden falls away, then back to house if not and a lineal drain (there are exceptions to that though)

    Hi Matty, just a quick question.
    I am due to start laying my porcelain next week. The contractor has said it will be a yellow sand mix, but i thought it should be sharp sand?
    Can you shed any light on your preference.
    Thanks.
    PS: I love your content, it is just outstanding workmanship. So glad i stumbled upon you a while back, its one of my fave channels.....Cheers.

    Hello,
    I have a 30m2 beam and block patio area, built as part of my extension. I’m thinking of ideas and ways in which to finish this area and how to approach it with the block and beam. The B&B naturally has a little flex in it therefore I want to proceed with the correct method to ensure tiles and joints don’t crack. I’m looking at a porcelain tile finish. Will this require a fibre screed like I had internally then to lay the porcelain with a cement mix? Advice would be useful from anyone who has experience of this. Thanks

    Hi you mentioned in another reply that you used fugabella grout is this better for porcelain than Marshall’s exterior grout or easy grout, and do you use it like a slurry? Great work by the way 👍

      Hi mate, that’s my preference for porcelain yes. I like Flowpoint and the Marshall’s equivalent but id only use on setts really.
      The finish and colour range of grout is more suited to porcelain, put it this way it’s what I’d use if it was on my house 👍

    Can the semi dry mix that Craig is spreading be laid out prior to the actual laying of the stones? Cos I’m on my own, it will be difficult to be making two different mixes, laying out, slurrying and laying the slabs. If I could lay the semi dry the day before and bring it up to level that would make life a lot easier?

      @Brockstonepavingpros  3 роки тому

      Hi James, thank you very much for the comment and for watching, it’s great hearing feedback like that. Thank you.
      Okay, I hear you.....if you get your sub base right then you won’t need to do this.
      I did that on the video to show how you can overcome the issue of your base being a bit low, it’s always better to be a tad low if anything as it’s easier to build up, then to reduce.
      I’d suggest just spending time to get your base as accurate as possible then you can just use the mix directly onto it.
      Hope that helps 👍

    • @jamesdavies810
      @jamesdavies810 3 роки тому +1

      @@Brockstonepavingpros Thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. The base was laid a year ago when the extension was done (we couldn't afford the patio then) so the sub base is rock solid (and has had a years worth of weather and rain on it.) I'll build it up with the mix directly then and be careful when using the rubber mallet.
      Thanks again
