I think this is my favorite performance from Angie. Just 12 years old and she rewrote the song, interpreted it, and produced a haunting, soulful original version with her stellar voice. And, yes, her guitarist and she are what cream is to coffee. She received that wonderful microphone (a Neuman TLM-102) as a 12th birthday gift in January of 2018. This must have been soon after. Can you hear the mid-Eastern tremolos at the end of certain words? Angie's grandmother is Persian. Angie has traveled to Iran on vacations and speaks Farsi as a second language. And then she sings entirely in English and converses with her friends in Norwegian. Just another day. She is brilliant.

Look what she's done here---takes a classic pop song, slows it down, changes some notes, plays it acoustic with just a guitar, and gives it a bluesie, jazz vibe. And Voila! A MASTERPIECE!! I just love this re-interpretation of this classic song. It's just gorgeous & has been in my top 5 Angelina songs since the first time I heard it.

Thanks for your fantastic and lovely reaction, Eve, there aren't many 11/12-year-old girls who can take a classic song more than 55 years ago, and that was basically a ballad, turning it into a slow and melancholic song that catches you heart filling it with emotions, the musical intelligence with which she re-elaborates, in a unique way, the old songs is amazing and her ability to take advantage of just the accompaniment of the simple guitar sound in background is incredible, I think that only for Angelina is it possible to do it so easily. 😊
In fact, the survived member of Mama's & the Papas also liked it and they published it on Instagram.
Very nice of you to give so much info about Angie. She deserves it. This song is just another of her many best. Beautiful. You are right about how she changes the colour of her voice and the tone. What amazes me is that she makes those decisions herself and aces it every time.
Just hearing you react Eve and reading some of the posts here on your channel has compelled me to say that I believe Angelina is getting ready to explode in the very near future. And I mean world wide, she should be on the radio right now IMO. Great reaction Eve, thumbs up.

I just look at this and the original as different songs. I like them both, but I will keep on listening to Angelina's. It's just hauntingly beautiful!! Great reaction, as usual!
Angelina did such a great job with this arrangement. The way she keeps that slow tempo, sustains the notes, and that ever so subtle vibrato. If you want to hear something interesting, play this video at 1.5 speed. It's too fast to listen to it like this, but for some reason, at this speed her vibrato resonates and pops right out. When you hear how much she is putting on it, it becomes very apparent just how much control she has. She can do that much, but do it so subtly that you barely even know it's there... you don't hear it, but you feel it.

I just tried the 1.5 speed. That was fun. Yeah, the vibrato pops at 1.5x but you feel it more than hear it at 1.0x. Impressive control and skill. At 1.5x Eve sounds like the legal disclaimer on car commercials.
@@999pudge I was talking about the original video, but I guess it works here too. Actually one of the best parts to hear it is on the "A" in LA that can be heard in the first 15 seconds of this video. BTW: The 1.5 speed isn't very useful for music videos, but I use it often for 'slow talkers' in informational type videos ;)

Glad to find another of "Angelina's angels" from one who, as well, is hopelessly addicted! What she does IS so Good! [Notice: Her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Jorden means Earth in Swedish/Norwegian so her name interpreted is Angelina Earth Star] I know you feel her as she sings. Most all who do are now meant to find more from her to feel! No one can relate a song to the World as she can, for Angelina honestly sees the beauty in the art of song. She relates what she sees so clearly. She brings to us the beauty in the art. She truly loves music. It is an art. Even when she takes on a darker song- what may have been written as dark- she shows that it is not. It is beautiful. And there is a way to see that, hear that, and she shows us that. Songs are wonderful expressions of art. She captures that truth for us. Interesting anecdote: At twelve in an interview when asked the first question "when I see you on stage I wonder who do you feel that you become?" [fishing for a particular artist, I'm sure] Her answer was: "When I sing I go to another world. It’s ...in the world it’s like an endless. It's amazing. It's like full of happiness. And I love ...It's amazing." [her exact words] She brings that world to us, just for a time when she sings. Whatever you believe that place she goes to may be. Enjoy the Angelina journey! We really are meant to.
Hi Eve, here's some more info for you. (nice reaction as always) Michelle from the Mamas & the Papas tweeted out how impressed with Angie rendition of the song so much that she put it on their site, I mean who really does this with a child. (only Angie) She makes a lot of her outfits like the one that you see on "Bohemian Rhapsody" on AGT & even the one when singing Elton John's song etc She uses the pattern of an artwork, from her grandmother & sometimes her own patterns.
She's a great painter too.
A God given voice & talent. What amazing timbre, texture, vibrato & amazing rare skill of tremolo & the pitch perfect skill also etc... She's very sweet, humble, giving & loving Christian in real life too. She rearranges & composes her songs while still being respectful to the original. She has written 3-4 songs plays 4-5 instruments & is trying to learn sax right now. Speaks 3-4 languages & sings in 4+ languages etc.. .English isn’t her 1st language, it’s her 3rd. She also gives a lot to charities & helps out children who really need it. So I hope this helped even more.
I thought it was cute, the way she decorated her shirt for her performance of Nothin' Breaks Like a Heart. And her, Oh-So-Adult look for Someone Like You. She does so many things besides singing.

9Ballr obviously she speaks Norwegian and English. He Father is Swedish. The Swedish and Norwegian languages are very similar and most people in these 2 countries manage to understand each other. Her Grandmother is Iranian and grandfather is Japanese and lived in japan for a while and they both taught Angelina their mother tongue languages.

In 2016 when I saw her in Halden, I asked her a question in Swedish and she replied to me in Swedish.

No one interprets the songs like Angelina Jordan, with such depth and feeling, can sing the most frivolous song and make you cry.
It seems as if the artists Angelina covers are not singing their own songs correctly.
I like more her live performances with public, is where angelina Jordan shines with more intensity.
She can sing with maximum sentimental depth and look at the flies at the same time.

Her late grandfather was Japanese. Angie's mother and uncle lived in Japan for 13 years and still speak together in Japanese. With Angie's sharp ears it is probable that she understands and speaks some Japenese. When she sang in Japan (a really beautiful song) a comment was made that her accent was very good.

Never liked this song. Too much bubblegum. Almost didn't listen to Angelina's version. Then Angelina brought an entirely new interpretation, much more aligned with the lyrics. I'll be right behind you in line to get tickets when she's finally able to get back on stage.
