    Believe it or not...to my horror, last year on a visit home, I caught my parents about to throw out a battered old geneve from the 1960s....I rescued it and had it nicely cleaned and serviced. Wear it Monday to Friday to work. Its 54 years old and keeps accurate time...and it has a full 2 day power reserve....for a 54 year old watch I find that remarkable....very well made...

      Wow. Glad you saved it and got it cleaned and serviced. I adore mine. Geneve's are a great way to experience a luxury timepiece without breaking the bank.

    I have a 1971 Omega Genevé. Belonged to my great-grandfather and has been passed down to me. It’s a custom for the Yugoslav railways that was given to workers who were also decorated war heroes. Thinking of having it restored as it is a family heirloom.

    Purchased my first Omega watch today, 1975 Geneve (running), very happy with it I went from an Orient Bambino, and I love the simple dress style. Going to get it serviced and the glass polished next week.

    I have the 1975 geneve and it's plated gold too with a black seconds hand, saying geneve and swiss made as well with the champagne white dial. The crown on it is every bit as hard to use but my one is gold fortunately!

    Hi, is it hard to get a cal 1030 serviced? I saw Omega enthusiast said watches with 1000 series calibre are hard to be serviced because there is less demand for those watches but i like wanna buy a geneve 136.0.102

      This link will explain the service in detail. It can be done by a qualified technician. "Anything is difficult until it is not". By this I mean that once you know how to service it ...you can do it. onatelier.co.uk/omega-calibre-1030-9ct-gold-dress-watch-service

    just curious jeff, why a plexiglass crystal rather than sapphire? Is that an economic or availability issue?

    • @watchyouknow
      @watchyouknow  3 роки тому +1

      Catawiki sums it up real nice: "When acrylic crystal breaks, it does not shatter which is why most of Rolex sports line used acrylic crystal. Omega even chose this material for their Speedmaster watch that went to the moon, in order to prevent crystal splinters from floating around in space should the watch break".
      Acrylic and plexiglass synonymous. Omega historically calls it plexiglass. Like it or not it is part of their past. Mass usage of sapphire was not common until the 1980's.
