I am 51, and I have extremely dry skin, no spots. I do not always want to wear a full face of foundation, makeup, or even concealer every single day. I purchased this product for the reason Gemma mentioned-if I am going out for a few hours and want to spruce myself up. Just looking at it, I knew it would not last the entire day. It is definitely liquidy. I am going to put a light primer under it, though. I put it under my eyes and it did a good pretty good job covering up discoloration - not a 100%. It is definitely very dewy and not meant for oily skin and definitely does not work as a foundation. I have my foundation as well as other makeup for days I want that full coverage that last an entire day. ❤
I am 70+ and only like to wear light make up, I hadn't bought Estee Lauder for years but had a bad experience with another brand's tinted serum so decided to try Estee as the skin care used to be beautiful. I purchased this in IC1 Cool Bone, it is lovely but a tiny bit too light but once it's on it doesn't look too pale. I have had problems in the past with people selling me serums and foundations that are just too yellowish/dark for my skin. I apply this serum after my moisturizer with a cosmetic sponge. I think products go on better with a sponge and you can blend it in. I even put my moisturizer and night cream on with a sponge, it has another benefit with this serum as the tiny bit of moisturizer left on the sponge mixes in with the serum and gives a smoother finish. For this reason I like the dropper too, just two drops is fine for me. I don't use concealer as I don't have any dark circles but might buy the concealer mentioned in the video. I really like this product because I generally don't wear much make-up and this by itself with moisturizer gives my skin a really nice sheen, but not oily. I have normal skin for my age. I find this serum with a light dusting of powder blush lasts all day, I use an eyebrow pencil and mascara and feel well set-up for the day. Oh and a nice lipstick with some depth of colour, this winter (Australia) I have been wearing a burgundy stain. I think as you get older you don't need as much make-up and lipstick can look too much on some ladies. I like the darker look these days. Despite the recommendation in the video, I don't wear face powder and have not for about 40 years.
So happy to see Estee Lauder products in a video! They have such a huge product line, and it seems American YTers have abandoned the brand, with the exception of the Double Wear foundation. I'd love to see a GRWM with only that venerable brand. Thanks for this video, and hey, I hope all went well at your Dr. appt. the other day!
FYI, people don’t approve of the conglomerate they are and of the pandering to China as far as animal testing. High fragrance and chemical SPF are also common complaints I have heard.
I am super excited for the Estée Lauder foundations video! I have been using double wear for years, but lately it has started, emphasizing my mouth corner lines.
I’ve been using Estée Lauder for many years as my everyday wear and for occasion. I always get compliments from everyone on how I apply my makeup and what product I use.
I'm with you! I loved the Maybelline or was it L'oreal skin tint that had dropper. I loved it but had to throw it out cause it was so messy. Love your reviews as always! I'm 58 with somewhat dry skin in spots and appreciate your honest reviews!
Me too and the Double Wear Water fresh. The Sheer and hydra rescue and this new skin tint are not for me. I like the old ones. I still love the regular double wear though
Back in the 80's I tried the very first EL Futurist Foundation carried by Neiman Marcus. On my oily skin it immediately looked shiny. After 4 hours my entire face became an oil slick. I went back to (take a guess) Ester Lauder Double Wear. At 69 I still am oily so thank you for review and the warning!
Hi Gemma, and I hope you’re feeling a bit better! It’s good to see EL being reviewed again, and I’m looking forward to your complete-ish foundation review video! My skin is taking a beating right now with the change in temps and some newly-triggered rosacea, so I’m hoping Estée Lauder will come out with a skin like paper bag that will just cover everything for the next few weeks 😂😂😭 Thanks for sharing your experience with us-love you bunches from NC, US
That’s funny, I was looking at this on the Boots app yesterday. I have dry skin but I really didn’t like how shiny it was so that put me off. Glad I didn’t buy it now, but I am really interested in the upcoming video about the other foundations in the range.
Thank you for this review! I’ve had success with the EL Double Wear and Futurist Hydra Rescue, and good shade match, so was wondering about this new product.
Thank you Gemma for the great review; I was just looking at this foundation to maybe swap for double wear but you've saved me the trouble! I am interested to see how the concealer works with the double wear.
Thank you for reviewing these 2 Gemma 🌞 I might try the serum if it is sold at a discount in the future, but right now the performance seems lacking for £49. The futurist concealer sounds more promising. x
Oh think I will avoid this, my combination skin is slightly more on the oily side so doubt will suit. I bought the physicians formula one you like and it's awful on my skin, it turns practically yellow and the shine is awful, keep having to dab my face! My fav you reviewed a while ago is the Missha M BB cream, it's wonderful ☺. However, I'm still desperately trying to find the perfect foundation for more 'special' occasions!
Gemma---so glad you reviewed this product as I have been very curious about it. I LOVE the EL Double Wear Sheer Long Wearing Foundation---seriously, this is one of the 3 that worked in our extreme temperatures this summer. It was excessively HOT & HUMID in Texas this summer. (Loreal Nude Skin Tint and Iconic London were the other 2). I think you have talked me out of trying this one, which I appreciate your honesty (unless it goes on extreme sale). Curious, was your shade in this product the same as your EL Double Wear Foundation color? Looking forward to the Estee Lauder video!!! I really enjoy their nite time eye cream too! See ya soon!
Like others have commented here, the EL winner for me is Double Wear. That concealer is brilliant - great for me as the 2C is such a good shade match for me. Best I’ve ever found and wears brilliantly.
Hi Gemma, I do have an oily T zone like you so thanks for this video, I will pass on this ( maybe I will try the concealer ) thanks for making it so clear that oily skin does not do well with this...happy to see that Ralph made himself comfortable and is enjoying the couch, so much that he is sound asleep, lol...we should all sign a petition: Stop with those silly droppers, I just threw away 2 foundation bottles from #7, they are a mess...thanks, stay well.
Which colour of the concealer is closest to Lancome 110 beige ivoire? Although I think it might be best just staying with the Lancome one and not changing. Best concealer for under eyes ever.
Totally agree with your review Gemma, I have silver hair and had been given a sample of the EL skin tint serum from a department store in Melbourne. It grabbed onto my hair line and took me days to wash out, plus it was so drippy. Not for me. 😊
The fact this has a dropper delivery system makes it hard pass for me. They're messy and wasteful and I don't know why brands insist on using droppers.
Completely agree! Every single time a concealer or foundation has had one of those, it’s hard to get product out usually AND it usually collects and dries at the top and just is a PITA!
I decant from glass bottles to small travel pots to get as much out as possible before it dries, but still find a lot isn't accessible and won't come out of these dropper and the pump style bottles. Manufacturers may claim these bottles are more environmentally friendly, or keep the product cleaner or fresher, but I think they just want to sell more.
@@lynnfox8376 that’s a good idea! Annoying to have to do though! I got an eye serum I love. It came with a pump but I don’t know if the pump is faulty or the serum is too thick to go through it, but it will not pump it out. I love the serum though so I put it into another bottle that used to have a similar consistency serum in it and that works fine. But was annoying to have to do especially because it wasn’t like really cheap or anything.
Please can you do a review of foundations that come in tubes rather than dropper and pump bottles, which are so wasteful. I am looking for alternatives to my Boots and Esteee Lauder foundations.
Hello lovely Ralph. Well now I’m convinced not to get this. A real shame because I simply cannot use double wear. Thanks for your excellent and thorough review, as always.
So you’re supposed to rub it between your fingers apply it to the face, You do not use the brush with this foundation. You also do not use a powder with this foundation.
At that price it needs to be amazing and I hate it when anything is in a dropper bottle and the model drips it straight onto her face - I don't know why it just freaks me out 😂
If I wanted a pop to the shops product I would (and do) just wear a tinted moisturiser/spf. I certainly wouldn’t pay $88 AUD for that sort of product 😂

I’m 60 with normal under eye skin and still wear the Double Wear concealer since I was very young. It’s a fantastic concealer ❤

For that much money and that performance, definitely a pass! Thanks for the review, Gemma!
Thanks for this. I do need more coverage because of pigmentation even though I have dry skin. So a pass I think.
