This home feels like a home. Some tiny homes feel like a project, not a permanent space to reside, but this one feels really cosy and settled. The colors are harmonious, calming and the storage are well placed. The wide work space is a plus!

@@Meluforever I agree. In my humble opinion, I think they opt for the green colour to bring more refreshment/ease on eyes, plus goes well with their lush plants.
Me too! Yellow is my favorite color, but I feel like it's difficult to incorporate it into a space because it's so striking. This couple, however, did it flawlessly! I love it! 💛

I came to look for this exact comment. While the end result is nice, a lot of the old was much nicer. Of course, once you decide to tear out walls, you cannot keep the floor without spare parquet tiles to fill the voids.
That gorgeous green color in combination with the light wood tones looks so good! Beautiful apartment, lovely redesign. The tv placement looks awkward though.
I love everything about this appartment! It is smart, creative, modern, yet unlike some projects shown on this channel, it feels cosy and practical for everyday life: Lots of storage, plants, pictures on the wall,... you can see it is not just an architectural piece of art but a place where people live. Love how the study can expand the living room, how the kitchen is open yet separated and does not allow guests to see the mess when you're cooking. The green metal box reminds me a lot of a ship container. This would be a great fit here in the harbour city of Hamburg!
To the creators of NTS: I hope you notice all the comments saying they should have kept the parquet flooring and maybe also some of the other original features of this apartment. Please show us a renovation that does exactly that, so you can show us a real example of 'sustainability' in redesigning homes and inspire more people to also make the most eco-friendly choice of keeping original parts of a home whenever that is possible.
I live in Madrid and have renovated a flat with floors like that and in a similar area to them. These flats were cheaply made to fit as many people as possible to work in the markets and factories and the floors are not good quality. They often easily fall out and they are very ugly. There was not anything lost here.
@Naidora thanks for this information! I guess if it's not good quality, then it becomes a different story, and I totally understand why you would change it. I wish this type of info would be provided in these videos so we can better understand why people make certain design choices.
I like how at the beginning they emphasized how narrow the kitchen was, and then proceeded to make it… almost equally narrow. 😂 Also, that bath tub looks nice but I can’t imagine the 90 degree corners being very comfortable.
That bathtub is not designed by someone who takes baths - all hard angles! As someone else said I am also concerned about the sound quality with all this perforated metal. This space is very much designed for their situation at the moment and not very flexible.
I love the sheet metal but I like privacy in a bathroom. Even with the sliding door for the toilet/bidet area, I would not want to be a guest in their home & have to use the bathroom!
The bathroom door is perforated too, which means ALL the bathroom smells get to float around the apartment, the good smells and the bad smells. Also the bathtub, while seamless and aesthetic, will be a hassle to clean and maintain. A stainless steel bathtub would have been easier to keep clean and hygenic, or a custom bathtub that's one piece of ceramic - all the grout is unpleasant to clean.
The smell isn't a problem because the toilet is in a room in the bathroom. The tub is a problem more on the relaxing front then the cleaning front. Some people have a higher compacity for cleaning. Of course I'm assuming since they designed it they know their own capacity.
Shame they got rid of the authentic wooden floor! It was such a gem! Also the tv on the floor takes a lot of space - you can nowadays hide it in a smart way and not to make it the center point of the living room… otherwise great use of space…
As they took out all the walls it would probably have been every difficult as there is no floor underneath the walls. Also I disagree on the looks - on a small open space like this the pattern would drive me crazy :D
Beautiful apartment! But I have to wonder if this is indeed sustainability when wooden floors are replaced with microcement and an apartment for family of four is made to fit only two people in intimate relationship (the toilet noises!). Is this really small living, flexible living (could anyone with different lifestyle move to this apartment without renovating?) or sustainable when we take out everything old and replace it with the trendiest new things?
Exactly! I understand in the plan before the bedrooms were probably too small, but ripping out wooden floors just because they are 'dated' while the quality is still fine, is not sustainable at all! I have those wooden floors in a living room in an apartment I just bought and plan to do my best to figure out a way to keep them while doing necessary renovations.
So many things to love about this apartment--the sliding door, the great study space, the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, the storage. A+++ ¡Bien hecho!
The bathroom is well done and the flat well renovated. Some good furnitures giving a soul to the place. Only point for me I don't understand, the art frame behind the TV, half seen but not really seen, it adds up to the feeling of having cluttered rooms.

The yellow little tiles brought instant smile! I liked it. I felt the huge metal cube in the middle of the house a bit unsettling. And if they mount the TV on the wall there will be more space I guess. The bedroom was nice and cozy.
It's okay but not something I would've done with the opened up space. I think they had the metal cube idea from somewhere and they were fixated on it. It really just makes the space look small and awkwardly shaped.

@mezbrookscarter8289 That was first thought when they showed the new layout. The kitchen is claustrophobically narrow, one small area holds the living room (a sofa and a TV) and the dining table, and the work area and bedroom are small and narrow. Where did all the space go?? I feel like they were fixated on the idea of that green cube, and the only way it would work was if they gutted the apartment and stuck it in the middle. I've seen other homes that are built around a central cube similar to this, but it only works in much bigger spaces. I thought maybe I was wrong because so many people love this one, but I'm not a fan.
The old plan with 3 bedroom would have been claustrophobic I guess. But I wish there was 1 extra bedroom in the flat. Also the old wood cabinets could have been used in this new built. 😢 Well, gorgeous combination of colors I must say. 😊

I like the apartment, but I can't get past the fact that they took out all of that original interior that was just dated. I hope it didn't end up in a landfill.
Such a beautiful project! The colours and materials are perfectly integrated and the spaces created are to die for! Loved the sun hitting the kitchen accent wal ❤
Unfortunately, I think they turned a four-room apartment into a two-and-a-half-room apartment. 50 m2 is not a small apartment! Then everyone can take part in “Never to small” as soon as you put a box in the middle of your apartment and integrate sliding doors… All elements that can make an apartment look smaller. Instead of a straight door that also keeps out sound and noise.
Love the use of color in the house, but not sure about the perforated metal. It would make the sound apparent all across the house. But maybe because it's only the two of them, so it's alright? I'm also not sure about the longevity of metal in the environment, if we're also considering the humidity in the place. The idea is great though. And as everyone has mentioned, it's a well thought out place. The architect has done a good job.
Really like this apartment, the kitchen tiles are absolutely gorgeous and complement the cabinetry to make it warm and relaxing. The light reflecting from that tone of yellow is warming and balming to the senses (I chose the same yellow for my children's room and it's still being touched up, although they're young men now!) I love the metallic cube but would have chosen a different colour, possibly a light sage green, to soften the shape. Love the bathroom and separate toilet & bidet: private and hygienic! I did like the parquet flooring but know what it does to the eye: always boxy, always brown, always dark... makes the space smaller. Well done, pareja!!
It's hard to believe that it's only 538 sq ft! The space flows so well. I love the green in the middle with the sunny yellow tiles in the kitchen. While the balcony is snug, it looks very comfortable and is likely a great place to have breakfast and as we saw, a glass of wine in the evening. I love too how bright and airy it is. Well done!
The old floor was AMAZING! Why did they rip it out? And the green cube in the middle... first I did not realize it was metal with holes in it, it looks like corrugated green plastic... And I would change out the chrome towel warmer in the bathroom to a white one, when everything else is white, wood and gold.
I love the sliding doors. So much better than all the ‘curtains make this a guest room’ layouts I’ve been seeing on this channel. The study can now be a real second bedroom if they ever need one.
The apartment is beautiful, and the center cube is ingenious and well thought out, providing storage in each space. It feels quite large and I love the colors you chose. 💚💛
I hope the old furnitures were disassembled and kept or moved. The original apartment had a lot of great things. Dated is not the word I would have used... but it had character. Not sure about what to think about the reno.
This a winner for me. Love the kitchen and splash of yellow tiles! Love the bathroom design, tub, tiles and sinks. Gorgeous! Love the white micro cement floor. Bright and clean. I also think the green perforated metal box is genius. Sooo much storage! 👍🏻👏👏👏👏
Whilst the apartment isn't necessarily to my taste, I love that it actually has modern comforts, like a squishy sofa, proper dining table and TV. So many of these designer apartments feel so stiff, I couldn't relax of an evening on a boxy pad that had storage potential under it. I absolutely love the idea of tiny living, but I'd like to be comfortable too!
I hope there's another renovation project out there that took all the nice things (the parquet, shelving, solid wooden doors) that were in the flat before this renovation. Also, I would guess that the old bathtub was significantly more comfortable and more water economical than the new one.
Not on this channel, but I just bought a space that has parquet flooring in the living room and I plan to do my best to figure out a way to keep that floor while doing necessary renovations. And if everyone else is ripping those floors out in every European country anyway, soon this floor will be desired and unique, I hope :)
Love the materials and the color scheme, and indeed I think the metal green box gives to the flat a unique personality. When it comes to functionality I think one between the kitchen and the bedroom should have had a sliding door system similar to the solution found for the study. If you like to cook often as you said, having the kitchen and the bedroom so close in an open space is never a good idea. The possibility to close the bedroom with an hidden door would have added privacy and functionality to the space.
It’s quite beautiful. I would (if plumbing permitted) have flipped the kitchen and the study, as the kitchen is just too small and cramped for my needs.
It would've been more expensive to shift the plumbing. This was his own flat (not a client's), so maybe there were budget concerns. Also, that kitchen is a normal size for flats in Europe.
I'd had also set the kitchen close to the balcony, with a door into it. It wouldn't be more expensive considering they have demolished all the walls, and having the original bathroom so close to it (for the plumbering and for the waste pipes)
Green is my favorite color and so I was happy to see that in the apartment. I like the color of the green tiles the most. Also, the apartment is very functional and livable.
homes are based on personal taste so i won't judge too hard but i do have a few notes/questions: why put the dining table so far from the kitchen - seems a bit inconvenient? and they said the study could also be a guest room but i don't see any extra beds/mattresses or a convertible sofa? also, the mirrored bedframe seems a bit impractical? i also think there could've been a way to conceal the tv instead of placing it so low, or they could've used that tv that turns into a painting when not in use. lastly, i agree with other comments that liked the old apartment - it's the first time i've seen before photos in B&W 😅
I love that the toilet area is enclosed, really makes a small space more livable ( really dislike ensuites in small spaces), I would’ve personally faced the couch to the wall to divide the space up even more so you dont see the study/bathroom or people walking there, whilst watching tv
Beautiful apartment, the TV placement is very weird though. I would have mounted it and added a frame to make it look more like artwork and therefore incorporated into the theme.
Loved the metal cube (also the colour) BUT two practical things that won't work: 1) when the TV is on the floor, you will have neck issues sooner or later, so if you want to watch TV you need to compromise that space and put it higher for your own sake rather than "how it looks" 2) I had those IKEA chairs for my study desk for a long time, and they do look very nice but unfortunately they aren't proper chairs, meaning, they won't support your back or neck while sitting by the desk, especially working long hours. While visuality is really important, I think one should opt for comfort (and practicality) when there is a clash of them. For the sake of the person who inhabits the place. Also not sure if anyone would want to bump their head to that mirror (possibly everyday) because it is oddly placed as a headboard.
I actually preferred the original design of the apartment.... so many beautiful features and fittings that could have been lifted with colour. This design looks like there is a shed in the middle of the apartment... :-/
I overall like it, materials and all, beside the gold accents. What worries me is that it's all around this metal cube, definetely nice to look at, but not nice enough to be the center of attention in every room. Also, it looks like a single room now, somehow, the privacy has been sacrificed to follow project's main idea. The fact that the sofa/living room is crammed between the entrance and the dining table removes value to the project. So, I like the snapshots a lot but I'm not sold. A small note: in architecture I would never say that the plants are an important element of the projects.
I would have put the 2 desks facing each other. That way both workplaces get more daylight from the window, do not block the radiator as much (Madrid gets cold in the winter) and you free up access to the entire wall in the back. (this solution of course presumes that the desks are not too wide)
@@luisantonbueno Yup, depending on how you place the tables you should be able to at least open one of the windows fully, or both partially. (but you probably wouldn't in the summer, as it would just let heat in, and I assume AC is more common in Spain than up here in Stockholm where I live)
What a perfect, calming space that has minimalist designs and yet, still maintains a cozy, human feeling to it. Every aspect of the apartment is well-planned from the kitchen to the study to the bedroom and the spa-like bathroom is fantastic while it's tough to beat that balcony to relax and take in the sights and sounds of Madrid's streets below. Bravo! :)
Superb use of all the space throughout the apartment. Also a very nice use of colour accents. As a Feng Shui consultant, I was particularly impressed with the choice of broad leafed plants and their placement.
So he removed all the original features (parquet! Beautiful MCM furniture that they had to show in black and white to make it look ugly and "dated" when MCM is one of the most popular styles these days) and replaced with generic "2020 minimalist" microcement and white + pastels. It looks like he saw that metalcore somewhere and got fixated on the idea. The layout is not practical - why didn't they move the kitchen to the corner next to bathroom where they put the study? The microcement and tile "bathtub" was designed by someone who never takes baths. The wavy metal in a pastel colour will look very dated in a few years. It's also not very practical as it allows dust inside the wardrobes and cabinets.
Beautiful!!! Nice to see people who aren’t afraid of using colour, and that green is gorgeous! I love the fact that they essentially made their own bathtub, allowing them to be particular about the size, shape and colour. Really lovely design work here.
Bien bello condominio. Sencillo, y extremadamente lujoso de estilo moderno. Muy bellos colores y el balcón to die for 🤩 Muchas gracias y felicitaciones 👏 😃
Cómo vas a cubrir pisos de parquet amigo, por lo que te sale el material y la aplicación, contratás a alguien que lustre pisos de madera EMHO. Qué buen departamento, igual; hermoso trabajo! The money spent on covering parquet flooring was much better spent in polishing the wooden floor than in the materials and workers needed to cover it IMHO. Such a nice apartment nevertheless; astonishing job! EDIT: bidet MVP
I’m sorry, but the TV needs to come up so you can actually see it from the couch, and placing the dining room at the furthest point from the kitchen makes no sense.
Great space. The thing that bugs me is the toilet and bath. I would have it the other way around so that someone can bath while the other goes to the toilet without loosing intimacy. Also when you have guest they don’t have to walk all over the bathroom with their shoes.
I love this house, its bright and seem blvery functional. The study has a really nice space. And i love that there's still sense of privacy in each space. ❤ I'm a sucker for yellow so the kitchen is totally my style
so cool to see one of these that has a proper work-from-home station. so many are like "i just have my funky little table where i can use my laptop" and that's it. some of us have to use a proper monitor or two lol
I really loved the colors and decoration. Usually coziness is paired with "warm" feelings, but this such a clear and refreshing result, really like a mint flavor :) Hope I can achieve such cozy feeling in my home some day. I am trying to put some green on my decoration but I don't have much natural light on my current apartment. The metal core is beautiful and clever concept! Only things I didn't like much are more due to my personal taste -- such as the TV being too low and a little too large since it's so close to the sofa. And I think the extended table could be just a regular table. The extended size wasn't a huge change and there is no need to save this space on the dinning area.

Well done!
Love this place. Smart solutions, good storage space, lovely colours and textures. Warm, peaceful, interesting and inviting.
It has resolved the storage & bathroom needs really well.🌺
The old floor was AMAZING!
I was worried about the toilet for a minute 😅 Good to know it was separated ❤️ Love that it shows how they store possessions. Beautiful home.
The cube idea is just brilliant ;)
@@kitty_s23456 It wouldn't be, there's bathroom right next to it.
I love the bathroom. Those green tiles are beautiful and the green and cold combo is giving me inspiration for my own bathroom renovation.
would really love to see a family apartment remain so
I love that the toilet area is enclosed, really makes a small space more livable ( really dislike ensuites in small spaces), I would’ve personally faced the couch to the wall to divide the space up even more so you dont see the study/bathroom or people walking there, whilst watching tv
Every element is perfect in this apartment. It has great flow, airiness and the colour palette soft yet vibrant. Well thought out.
I would have put the 2 desks facing each other. That way both workplaces get more daylight from the window, do not block the radiator as much (Madrid gets cold in the winter) and you free up access to the entire wall in the back. (this solution of course presumes that the desks are not too wide)
y calor en verano
@@luisantonbueno Yup, depending on how you place the tables you should be able to at least open one of the windows fully, or both partially. (but you probably wouldn't in the summer, as it would just let heat in, and I assume AC is more common in Spain than up here in Stockholm where I live)
Cozy + Creative + Efficient.. Thumbs Up 🩶
What a perfect, calming space that has minimalist designs and yet, still maintains a cozy, human feeling to it.
Every aspect of the apartment is well-planned from the kitchen to the study to the bedroom and the spa-like bathroom is fantastic while it's tough to beat that balcony to relax and take in the sights and sounds of Madrid's streets below.
Bravo! :)
I love the study layout, calm and helping to focus. And that painting as a centre piece is just fab!
Anyone knows the artist?
beautiful! So elegant and simple, one of my favourite.
After watching this episode I think that 50 meters is a perfect space to live.
This is a superb design. It's functional while having aesthetic appeal by loads❤❤❤
The green multifunctional green cube is brilliant! Overall, it is a good design with a wonderfully fresh yet calm colour scheme.
Superb use of all the space throughout the apartment. Also a very nice use of colour accents. As a Feng Shui consultant, I was particularly impressed with the choice of broad leafed plants and their placement.
RIP that gorgeous parquet flooring.
Beautiful apartment, but the mirror backboard behind the bed seems very impractical
its there for other reasons
Cómo vas a cubrir pisos de parquet amigo, por lo que te sale el material y la aplicación, contratás a alguien que lustre pisos de madera EMHO. Qué buen departamento, igual; hermoso trabajo!
The money spent on covering parquet flooring was much better spent in polishing the wooden floor than in the materials and workers needed to cover it IMHO. Such a nice apartment nevertheless; astonishing job!
EDIT: bidet MVP
Superb! So incredibly well thought out and executed. I can't believe it is that small. It feels like a much bigger space.
I love the floor. Great little place for busy people.
Love that jade green bathroom tile
This design is as powerful as mid-century language. This is what I call taste.
Love the appartement, its just a pity that the architect listen to jazz music and not metalcore music in this instance :D
Ha!
I love this house, its bright and seem blvery functional. The study has a really nice space. And i love that there's still sense of privacy in each space. ❤
I'm a sucker for yellow so the kitchen is totally my style
Lovely renovation! The fact that you kept the bidet in the new bathroom layout is great 😊
I live in 40 sqm and have 2 full bathrooms, which is really useful. This space is adequate to hold another bathroom as well.
My brain doesn't quite like this, but my heart loves it! so much character in a house!
so cool to see one of these that has a proper work-from-home station. so many are like "i just have my funky little table where i can use my laptop" and that's it. some of us have to use a proper monitor or two lol
The home is one of my favourites that you have featured!!! LOVE
excelente reformulación y aprovechamiento del espacio, a la vez contemporáneo, funcional y estético.
Absolutely stunning house, very functional and beautiful
I really like the color choices that were incorporated here.
Lovely! Would love to see more rented apartments with less intrusive changes, though.
The colour Teal: that's the character and personality of this design 💚 Love it! 👌
Some great ideas in this small apartment. Thanks for sharing. Gracias!
