Wow guys, I feel so overwhelmed and grateful for the way you all have reacted to this video. I'm so happy you all feel comfortable sharing your experiences and feelings about the transitions you all are going through and I just wanted to tell you all "thank you" again!! You have taught me about what a supportive and healthy online community can look like and interact and you have all blessed me tremendously. Praying for you all!! :)
Hey Ellie! So glad you found the channel! :D yes, when things are new or get tough, just take it day by day, step by step and you’ll look back one day and be amazed at how far you’ve come. :) find people who share interests or who are also new to public school. The classes were a bit easier in pace and intensity than my homeschool classes, but then again I had to be there everyday so the time commitment was more difficult. In the end it just about evened out. 😄 you can do this!
@@Carolina-cm6nu hey I'm going into 10th grade half way through the year and I'm really REALLY worried that I'm behind everyone else academically, I'm trying really hard to "catch up" but I'm still really nervous about it all. Anyways really enjoyed the videos thanks for making it (:
This was super helpful! I'm homeschooled and have been for 6 years. Lately the schooling has been too loose for me if that makes sense? 😂 I want more of a schedule so I'm thinking about going back to public school after summer but I have really bad anxiety around too many people so I'm not sure. This video definitely helped though!
I might be going to public school for 8th and I am scared that I will get bullied for being short and looking younger than I am (I'm 5'4) I have been homeschooled since 2nd grade
Hey! I've been homeschooled my whole life as well, and i'm thinking about going to high school this year to make some friends, but i'm really nervous, and have anxiety thinking about it. But I feel like if I don't go i'll be missing out on ever experiencing school. God bless! :D
Cool! Well it can certainly be a great opportunity to meet new people, my sister actually went to public school as well for the first time this year, and she's made some great connections in her orchestra group. There are also some who don't make a ton of friends either, and both are totally ok! :) I would suggest joining a group or activity with people who share interests, values, etc. If God wants you there, He'll get you there. Thanks for watching, so glad you felt you could share your experience!
I’m the exact opposite! I’ve been public schooled my entire life and just switched to online school in January 2019 half way through my sophomore year! Honestly, I hated public school with a passion... but that was just my opinion lol! Thanks for sharing this video and I hope you enjoy public school more than I did!!!☺️💛
so was it high school you hated or just school in general… i’m trying to figure out if i want to go to public school for high school or stay homeschooled…
I've been homeschooled my entire life and I think it would be so cool to go to a “real" school for a semester or year **Update** This fall (9th grade) I'm going to a Christian private school in the fall. I'm really nervous but also excited
Good luck guys, I was homeschooled all my life and last year I went to private school.. I hated my first year there and I still miss homeschooling a but I am on a stricter schedule and not as behind in my work
You'll be alright but the groups are already formed over the years so that could be a bit tougher to figure out which group is best for you. But i can guarantee people will talk to you because your new and that's interesting.
I’ve been homeschooled ever since kindergarten, but for junior and senior year I’m going to a early college high school...having social anxiety really makes me terrified even at the mere thought of it, I just don’t want to be that person no one talks to and everyone thinks is weird...once I get to know someone I’m really talkative but at first I’m socially awkward and don’t really say much lol I wish I could fix it, but it’s like my mind will NOT let me be that social person that I would love to be...so I’m kind of terrified lol..I still have sophomore year to get through though 😬😕
Jo Jo, I felt the same way my freshman and sophomore years. I was simply terrified of large groups, specifically the homeschool center I would go for classes. I wanted to change but felt trapped in my fear. You are totally not alone in this. Sometimes I'm still like that, but I've found people that I really love and admire, and just being present for them, even if I'm not saying much, makes a difference. It's sometimes you have to find friends; other times friends will find you. You will attract amazing people to you if you aren't constantly speaking, but the things you say are insightful, encouraging, thoughtful. Something that really helped me was coming up with a mental (or physical) list of questions to ask people when I saw them. It will boost your confidence knowing you are prepared for a conversation, and it will show the others around you that you are interested in them and their stories. If someone just isn't opening up though, hammering them with questions probably isn't a good idea. And some things just take time; the more you practice being a good conversationalist, the more people will warm up to you, and over time they will start pursuing you the was you pursued them (I can say this from experience :) ) I have so many more tips if you find this unhelpful, but I don't want to make a novel out of this comment XD kuddos to you as well if you read to the end. Praying for you! :)
Same oh gosh I might get to go to a small private school (going into 7th) and I am so excited but I am so antisocial 😣 Also i am still hoping I will actually get to go because there are some complications we need to work out.... oof.

Hey Emily! That depends which classes you take and whom you hang out with. :) It could be scary if you don’t like being around a lot of people, but fun if you like large crowds. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! You will learn a lot that way and it will show the teacher and the other students you want to learn. No matter what happens or what group you find yourself in, surround yourself with people that will challenge you for the better. Stay true to who you were created to be and know why you believe what you believe. 🤗 best of luck!!
I’ve been considering going to public high school for a while now and am pretty nervous! Mostly about the workload. Homeschool has more relaxed structure with more learn at your own pace, and I feel I would get overwhelmed with a public school system. Any advice for that 🥺? I mostly want to go for the social aspect 😅 I am in Grade 10. God bless!
Hey there, thanks for commenting! Good question, school balance is always tough to manage, and harder when you don’t know what to expect! In my experience and from hearing the stories of others who had more going on in high school, public high school is a lot more in-class time and in general a slightly more lenient assignment intensity (though this is certainly not the case for every public school!) while homeschool is less “in-class” time and more homework time, in general greater assignment intensity. I realize I’m a year late here, but I hope this helps!
Thanks for this video!!!!!!! Im in 7th grade and ive been a homeschool kid since i was in 1st grade, i hate everything about homeschool, no friends, no fun, i hate it i want friends, my mom said she might consider letting me go this year she said the same thing, like 5 months ago im so sick of my social anxiety i want to have friends so bad, im terrified to go into public and normally cry or break down the anxiety of kids staring at me and wondering what they are thinking makes me feel scared and sad, no one my age goes to parks or playgrounds, but my mum takes me to playgrounds every now and then, if there are kids at the playground we arent allowed to go, we have to find a new park thats empty or wait for a day when theres no kids, and if my mom lets me go see the kids i normally play with little kids because there funny and cute and kind, kids my age snarl at everything, and cross there arms, parents normally give me long stares because im 12 playing with a 5 year old, i feel so uncomfortable kids my age are mean and hateful, but parent's of nice little kids think im a weirdo, i hate it, i want to get over my anxiety of people
Hi Caroline! I know this video was made a year ago but I am currently homeschooled and we are planning to put me in public school for ninth grade this coming year. I am absolutely terrified because my last encounter with a public school was very traumatizing, I get very uncomfortable when kids use for foul language around me, and I don’t do well around large crowds especially when I don’t know the people. One of the reasons I homeschooled was because I was comfortable around that environment. My parents don’t want me to be home schooled during high school, but my anxiety is going up the closer it comes to the day I have to go. I don’t know what I’m going to do but hopefully it will be OK 😔😔😔
Hello Manasi, I am so glad you commented! Man going back into a situation you had trauma in before is really hard, I've been there in college and it's tough. Have you talked to your parents about why they want you to go back? It might be worth the conversation, and you could even propose going back a year later or something depending on if they want you to graduate from there or not. I've had to have hard conversations with people and in the end it's always better to know. :)
Thank you for this video! I am currently homeschooling, and my brother is starting public school this year, so I am expecting myself to make a decision. I want to go for the socializing, and it just seems kind of fun😄 I know everyone’s situation is different tho. Anyway, 😳
Thank You for watching! I'm so glad to hear. :) That's great that you seem to be comfortable socializing! I know that was a problem for me especially in my sophomore year. Don't feel pressured to make the choice just because your brother has; as you said, everyone's different, but if you've talked with your parents and analyzed the situation and feel peace about that decision, go for it! :) Praying for you.
Me too well I'm starting off as a freshman at home then going in the building my sophomore year but I have a question how did u like get back enrolled or drop out of the homeschooling? Hopefully u understand what I'm saying 😭
Thank you for posting this! I've been homeschooled all my school years, but I'm switching to public school next school year. And I am so nervous! So I think this helped a lot..thanks!💜
I was in school for most of my life… Honestly hated it. Until 2 years ago when I decided to homeschool and I made some friend in the homeschool community…. One of my friends wants to go regular school because apparently she wants to be more social & go to football games and stuff. I was like… “Child, you also have 2-4 hours of homework and 7 hours of school…” You won’t get to wake up and have breakfast, or go to bed at 12:00….
facts lol. like the only thing i can imagine public school (might) have thats better than homeschooling is you see more people on a daily basis. but you sacrifice so much for that one thing. like you wont be able to sleep in and get a complete nights sleep, you wont have as much flexibility and its just not too worth it lol
i don’t do very much school at all even though i’m “homeschooled” and i really REALLY wanna go to public school for the first time since i was 5 (i’m 13 now), is public school really bad?
The meaning of "bad" can vary among people and opinions, but I would say I had an overall positive experience at public school. I did not see anyone doing anything illegal there, but I overheard some drama-filled and harmful conversations while I attended. It also depends on the school, some schools may have better atmospheres for learning and making friends while other schools may have a bunch of kids who don't care about learning or other people so it really depends on where you go. I would suggest learning more about the school you plan to attend and take a tour. That will probably help you decide if it is a good place for you. :) Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
I went to a public school all my life until covid-19 hit. I then started to do homeschooling and doing online classes. Once summer is over I’m going back to public school and I’m so nervous! It’s going to be really different since before covid I was in elementary and now I’m in middle school
I was public schooled, then in 5th grade I was home schooled, I am in 9th grade currently And I am turning 15 in one month from today. and in Junior year I am going into highschool for the first time and I am freaking out!!
The transition can certainly be scary, especially when you don't know what you're going to be dealing with. As far as academics, public school is generally less demanding than homeschool (though it can depends on the program), so I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you don't fall behind. And to prevent falling behind, I recommend pretending everything is due a day before it actually is, but don't beat up on yourself if you don't get it turned in right then. It's the mentality that will drive you. :) There is certainly lots to think about when going into public school, and sometimes just the idea of it can make one anxious. Try to pinpoint the specific things you're worried about and talk to a family member or friend about them. Also, please know that in 5-10 years, no one worth being friends with will remember any mistakes you might make and hold them against you, but the kindness you can show others can leave a lifetime impression on them. I hope this helps! I'll be praying for you! :) Also kuddos if you read the whole thing :P
@@Carolina-cm6nu haha, thx so much my biggest fear is the homework since that used to cause all of my anxiety. i mean it hasn't gone away. but anyways, it kinda freaks me out. my family uses Teaching TextBooks for math and Heritage online academy for everything else. and i do fine academically. so I am not worried about being on the bad side of teachers. I'm worried socially. I'm sure I'll be fine. Thx so much for responding tho! and I did read the whole thing :)
I’m in a similar situation, I’m in 8th grade and got pulled out of public school in 6th grade. I’m going back for high school and I’m freaking out😖 I hope everything works out good for you🙂
I want to go to public school but the school I would be going to is advanced and a year ahead of most schools which is why the only reason I stayed homeschooled this years was because I was embarrassed of being behind it’s it really a big deal or should i go
Hi, I've been online homeschooled for about 2 years now and want to go back to public school. I will be a junior next year and was wondering a bit more about your transition. Did you do online school? If so, how did you transfer to to public school? I ask because I went to family welcome centers and the schools i applied to won't take my online credits. Please help.
Hi Cierra, I realize I’m quite a bit late here but I wanted to answer your question nonetheless as it is a good one! I did online school, but I’m sorry to say I did not have to go through transferring my homeschool credits to public school; rather, I transferred my public school credits to homeschool, because I decided to graduate as a homeschooler. I also did not have enough total credits at Public school to be able to graduate with them. I hope you were able to find some answers!
Thanks so much for this video! I also had a question, how did you find all of your classes, I've been super scared of the thought of walking into the wrong classes, and getting lost.
It can certainly be daunting, and I felt the same way! I would suggest taking a tour of the school and/or arriving 15 minutes early the first day so you have time to find your room. Don't be afraid to ask another student or the help desk either; I did this too. :)
Good question! I had to drop a class at the Community College because of a content issue and because most other homeschool classes had started already, I decided to drop into public school. Hope this answers your question! 😄
Great question! Up until my high school graduation, both homeschool community teachers and my parents compiled and reported my grades. :) When I did community college in my junior and senior years of high school, those grades were also taken into the mix on my transcript.
Obviously school work sucks but the social interaction is worth it I think, as I said to the other person groups have been formed over years but your new so people will talk to you just to get to know you. You'll be fine, overall friends is the best part.
I am in England and we call it secondary school and we have years so I'll try and convert them into grades So I have been homeschooled for 2 to 3 years and I just think I want a change because I wanna learn more so hopefully after summer I'm going to school in 8th grade all my friends are in 8th grade so hopefully it will be fun
Yes, the homework is a bit different, but it’s not terribly difficult overall. Teachers are different too; my sister’s teacher said he’s only going to have the class do two homework assignments through the semester as they’ll be doing most of the work in class. One of my teachers on the other hand had an extensive quarter-long assignment with a number of little assignments as well. None of it was entirely overwhelming though. :)
Thank you! Currently, I am a freshman in college but this was when I was a senior in high school. I’ll be coming out with a college vlog hopefully soon. :)
I Kinda Need Some Help? I’m homeschooled this will be my second year I’m starting 6th grade August 20, I really kinda miss public school honestly idk why, homeschool is like so much better than pubic cause there is no dress code An I pretty much do what I want, I got them old fashioned parents who don’t really care I’m there last baby, well back to the public school deal, I want to go back so bad I miss having friends around me like 24/7 but there’s is so much drama especially now that I’m in Jr High an I’m in homeschooled because of the drama. My 4th grade year was the last year I was ever in a public school, I got into lots of fights an it got real bad when the drama started after Christmas, I was suspended 4 times, pretty much always in ISS to get away from the mess going on, I had DSS called on me cause I was sneaking away from school, I had a vape, an I had suicidal thoughts. Yeah kinda why I’m scared a public school now, I’ve been to 5 schools an it will be surprising to so many kids that I come back to pubic school, I know by so many kids as the girl who don’t care about what you say I’m still gonna be me But... So many know me as a kid who will hurt you if you mess with me. Honestly idk I’m kinda asking for help, I understand it is my choice but I just need a little advice to help me app
Hello! To my understanding, you’ve had a few rough experiences at public school but still like having friends around you and can’t quite reconcile the two. Please let me know if I’m misunderstanding! If I interpereted this correctly, here’s my advice: get connected to a good, strong community of homeschoolers in your area. I know it’s WAAAAYYYY easier said than done, but it’s SO worth it once you find those vibrant friendships. You’ve got this!! 😊😊
It's totally natural to feel that way! It's a new environment, but there are also so many things that you will find that are similar to your past experience. With so many people in schools, there's bound to be people who are like you; first coming into highschool or transitioning from homeschool, unsure of their futures or who will want to be their friends. I'm so glad you feel comfortable recognizing your thoughts; that's a very important thing not a ton of people do. Good luck! I'll be praying for you. :)
I'm 14 and thinking about going to highschool. Unfortunately my mom believes in "no schooling" and never taught me anything. I now have learning disabilities and can't concentrate alone.. I get too bored. I feel like I really need an education and socialization to be productive in this world. I also live in conservative old town in Texas in a small RV cooped up with my adult brother all day it's boring and I'm severely depressed. But one major issue is that I'm trans my mom doesn't want me going anywhere because I could be reported and taken away also I might have to use my deadname which would out me. I just want socialization and friends but my identity and where I live kinda messed that up... I can't go to the school in my town because the only other LGBT person I know is regularly raped and gets death threats so I'd have to go to one outside of my area
I live in TX too! Aka I can relate to the transphobia. I'm also aroace. I hope u have figured stuff out with ur mom :( I've been homeschooled since covid hit and im thinking about going back to public for the same reasons, but I don't want to go back to my og school since yk texas😅 I do wanna try and make some new friends and get more socialness but idk. High school socialization sounds important but I'm horrible at making friends. I hope ur doing ok if u wanna talk hmu
Shit My Last Day Of School Was June 8th 2018 I Left Cause I Got Suspended A lot I Had A Student Invention Action Plan, Now I Miss All That Mess I’m Still Going To NCVA Aka Homeschooled For The Coming Up 2019-2020 School Year, I Debate If I Should Go Back To School (2020-2021) An Be Nice Act Like A Fucking White Girl, I Mean Damn All My Public School Friends Keep Asking When My Ass Is Coming Back

I want to go for the socializing, and it just seems kind of fun😄
I know everyone’s situation is different tho.
I've been homeschooled my whole life and I'm finally going to school for my sophomore year!
I’m so glad to hear that!! And best of luck! :)
@@Carolina-cm6nu Thank you!
I was in school for most of my life…
Honestly hated it. Until 2 years ago when I decided to homeschool and I made some friend in the homeschool community….
One of my friends wants to go regular school because apparently she wants to be more social & go to football games and stuff. I was like…
“Child, you also have 2-4 hours of homework and 7 hours of school…”
You won’t get to wake up and have breakfast, or go to bed at 12:00….
facts lol. like the only thing i can imagine public school (might) have thats better than homeschooling is you see more people on a daily basis. but you sacrifice so much for that one thing. like you wont be able to sleep in and get a complete nights sleep, you wont have as much flexibility and its just not too worth it lol
i don’t do very much school at all even though i’m “homeschooled” and i really REALLY wanna go to public school for the first time since i was 5 (i’m 13 now), is public school really bad?
The meaning of "bad" can vary among people and opinions, but I would say I had an overall positive experience at public school. I did not see anyone doing anything illegal there, but I overheard some drama-filled and harmful conversations while I attended. It also depends on the school, some schools may have better atmospheres for learning and making friends while other schools may have a bunch of kids who don't care about learning or other people so it really depends on where you go. I would suggest learning more about the school you plan to attend and take a tour. That will probably help you decide if it is a good place for you. :) Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
Carolina thank you a lot!❤️
I went to a public school all my life until covid-19 hit. I then started to do homeschooling and doing online classes. Once summer is over I’m going back to public school and I’m so nervous! It’s going to be really different since before covid I was in elementary and now I’m in middle school
I’m in the same exact boat as you!!! Are you nervous?
@@yesenia6074 Yes, veryyyyyy.
I am homeschooled at the moment but I've been in public school but planning on going back next year.
I’m going back for high school and I’m freaking out😖 I hope everything works out good for you🙂
I want to go to public school but the school I would be going to is advanced and a year ahead of most schools which is why the only reason I stayed homeschooled this years was because I was embarrassed of being behind it’s it really a big deal or should i go
I have been homeschooled for my 6th year now, im prob gonna switch to public school for sports and such.
I hope you were able to find some answers!
might be going to highschool for my sophmore yeaarrr
I’m homeschooled and I wanna go to a real school but I’m so nervous
Thanks so much for this video! I also had a question, how did you find all of your classes, I've been super scared of the thought of walking into the wrong classes, and getting lost.
It can certainly be daunting, and I felt the same way! I would suggest taking a tour of the school and/or arriving 15 minutes early the first day so you have time to find your room. Don't be afraid to ask another student or the help desk either; I did this too. :)
This may sound weird but how do I socialize when everyone has their friend groups made up
Did u figure that out? I'm trying to decide if I wanna go back so got any tips?
What a neat video, thanks for sharing! Why did you decide to do public school when you're so close to being done w/ high school? Genuinely curious :)
Good question! I had to drop a class at the Community College because of a content issue and because most other homeschool classes had started already, I decided to drop into public school. Hope this answers your question! 😄
Did you do a placement test or did your parents do their own report card for public school
Great question! Up until my high school graduation, both homeschool community teachers and my parents compiled and reported my grades. :) When I did community college in my junior and senior years of high school, those grades were also taken into the mix on my transcript.
I’m going to high school next year and I’m thinking about going to public but I’m kinda scared because I’ve never been to public school
Ive been homschooled for my whole life and i really want to go to public school but i need somebody to tell me if its good
Obviously school work sucks but the social interaction is worth it I think, as I said to the other person groups have been formed over years but your new so people will talk to you just to get to know you. You'll be fine, overall friends is the best part.
@@nathr7375 thanks i really need opinions cuase im not entirely sure if i wanna go so thanks i think I'll go
i wanna go to public school too but my parents wont let me
@@rain22738 same here
@@plonjee3492 glad im not the only one
I am in England and we call it secondary school and we have years so I'll try and convert them into grades
So I have been homeschooled for 2 to 3 years and I just think I want a change because I wanna learn more so hopefully after summer I'm going to school in 8th grade all my friends are in 8th grade so hopefully it will be fun
What is the homework like? Is it very different or what?
Yes, the homework is a bit different, but it’s not terribly difficult overall. Teachers are different too; my sister’s teacher said he’s only going to have the class do two homework assignments through the semester as they’ll be doing most of the work in class. One of my teachers on the other hand had an extensive quarter-long assignment with a number of little assignments as well. None of it was entirely overwhelming though. :)
did you have to take a hspt?
No, I don’t believe so
What grade are you in? Also nice video!
Thank you! Currently, I am a freshman in college but this was when I was a senior in high school. I’ll be coming out with a college vlog hopefully soon. :)
I like you. You are good and have good qualities.... may be because you went to home schools....🥰🥰🥰🥰
Haha thank you, mom and dad taught us kids well :D
I’m going to public high school next year and I’m so scared 😖
It's totally natural to feel that way! It's a new environment, but there are also so many things that you will find that are similar to your past experience. With so many people in schools, there's bound to be people who are like you; first coming into highschool or transitioning from homeschool, unsure of their futures or who will want to be their friends. I'm so glad you feel comfortable recognizing your thoughts; that's a very important thing not a ton of people do. Good luck! I'll be praying for you. :)
Same I so nervous and I’ll be a freshman
Mariah Booker omg me too!
turns out the weird girl who was friends with the signs was me.
REALLY 😭
Music was too loud, couldn’t hear your voice. 😣. Public school is scary
I'm Going Back to school ,9th I still Don't know how to spell Becuz
How's that going for u😭
