    Settle in as we tackle one of the great modern standards of the gypsy jazz world!
    An essential one to know for any jam session! We cover the chord changes and look at some nice alternate voicings for the final "A" section. We also learn to play the "head" (melody) of the tune.

    I came for the lesson, but stayed for the performance, or maybe it was the other way around. INCREDIBLE PLAYING. Impeccable instruction. It does not get any better than this!!!!

    I was in Switzerland last week training for my work, and I found myself in a second hand CD shop looking for music by this guy called Django Reinhardt. I found a compilation and bought it. Now obsessed with his songs Rhythm Futur and I'll see you in my Dreams, I have you to thank you for introducing me to this music I'd otherwise never heard of ☝️👍😊 so thanks, Alex

    Playing blues &rock over 52 years now.i know practicly everything about hendrix etc.but now that i finaly decided to take on gypsy the other stuff seems like kindergarten difficulty.its very hard to get customised with all the various chords that i did.nt knew but your lessons helped enormously.love your es175 by the way.i started now with a second hand ibanez george benson.

      Thanks for the comment mate, I appreciate that. I also started with blues, rock and pop and came to jazz in my teens. Was a real deep learning curve! I enjoyed every moment of it though 👌🏻 Gypsy jazz is definitely the easiest way in to the jazz world.

    Thanks, great playing, great lesson.
    At first I thought all the explanations about the harmony were slowing down the process, but in fact, they help a lot to understand the tune AND to remember which chords to play. It kind of makes sense afterwards.

      Thanks Martin, I appreciate that. Indeed.. like with anything, learning to understand the bigger picture can seem like slow going for a moment, but you soon start to see the fruits of your labour. 👌🏻

    Outstanding as usual! I will have to learn it, it sounds great. However, while I have both a Gibson ES175 and a magnificent vintage 1962 Martin D28, I don't have a classical guitar. Now you've convinced me to buy one! (PS--- you don't list the D28 that is seen in the opening video, in your Gear list --- or is it a D18 or something else? Looks like a D28)

    • @AlexFarranGuitar
      @AlexFarranGuitar  Рік тому

      Haha, apologies to your wallet my friend! ;) I love having a classical hanging around to play on.. such a beautifully toneful instrument. Ah yes, the Martin is a HD28v .. part of a special edition run for Westside distribution here in the UK.. it's an absolute beauty 👌🏻

    This performance sounded like something you would hear whilst watching a latin couple do a seductive dance in a semi-clean cantina in South America 💃🕺
    Very nice 175, new ? It reminds me of Jonthan Kreisberg, an outstanding musician like yourself. My favourite track of his is "Unearth", it's the Bee's knees 🐝

    • @AlexFarranGuitar
      @AlexFarranGuitar  Рік тому +1

      Haha “semi-clean cantina”.. love how specific that scenario is! 😂
      Yes, I got the 175 a few weeks back, it’s an old one from 1958!.. a bit of a dream guitar for me. I did a video all about it on my Patreon, it’s one seriously sweet guitar. Just badly needs a refret!
      I’ll have to check out more Jonathan Kreisberg.. I’ve only heard bits and bobs but always liked it. 👌🏻
