  • Опубліковано 15 чер 2019
  • In this video we explore a underground culvert known as The Breech
Remember Shakespeare and Henry V........ " Once more my friends unto the breech, once more "
It will all become clearer in the video.
This culvert built around the 1880,s, is very steep, its only 6 foot high and is a vivid orange colour, but makes a interesting explore.

@@patrickdickinson6492 it's well worth your effort as you take some great footage.
Refreshing to see videos that are not full of shaky hand held footage or constant arms length selfie style sections.
      Keep up the great work.

    Morning Patrick.
Love to see quality workmanship, the stonework is unbelievable as being a bricklayer/stone mason I appreciate it all. It perhaps lost a few life's during it's construction.
    Nice video and history/heritage.
    Take care my friend 👍🇬🇧⚒

I can imagine Patrick. I have a love for old brickwork. Where I am from there is a viaduct and was blown away when I finally went to go see it. We cannot let these old structures crumble. Brick engineering 👌 the craftsmanship/pride of the old school bricklayer/stonemason was on another level. Like you said more like art work. 100 % correct sir.
Look forward to the next one take care 👍🇬🇧⚒

Hi Pat, the first section of culvert you explored, built in masonry, was to take the watercourse (Sough Dike) beneath the Sheffield to Manchester Railway and I suspect it would have been built around the late 1840's. The concrete extension to the culvert was presumably put in to take the water underneath the factory when it was built.

This has some great colour in the video and photos. The cinematography and production design get an A+.
In some respects, I think you have created a new art form. You incorporate many aspects, such as history, exploration, risk taking, travel, caving, engineering, art, communication and performance skills. On top of this you give yourself, purely honest and unique, as well as very kind and generous.
At considerable time and expense, You have provided not just a rarely found lesson in all of the subjects I just mentioned, above, but a damned good example of how to be an above average and substantially decent human being.
Also commendable is your initiative and willingness to do the hard work required, to turn a great idea into something real.
Awesome, Pat. Truly awesome. Rather than saying that I can hardly wait until your next production, I will admit that I am looking forward to viewing "The Breech" a few more times because I always find more, by giving your videos a few more looks.

Perfect Sunday afternoon viewing! Great light painting shots, loved the shadow too. Really had to look hard to see it was a drain outlet! Sounds like your voice is back to normal again. Thanks for sharing as usual, stay safe on your explores 👍🏻

    Dear Pat
I do hope you’re keeping well. Just catching up with more of your videos. Loved this one! My family live a short 5 min drive from this location and I never knew that culvert existed. How interesting! Only a month after you filmed this, I was over visiting and we spent a morning walking in the woods just above there. We dropped down and had a breather on that very same bench before tackling the steep lane back up the hill. If only we’d been a little earlier we may have bumped into you!
Thank you, as always for your amazing videos Pat. Simply marvellous!
    Much love.
    Ginette xXx

Hi Ginette, and nice to hear from you, a small world that your family lived so near, I know the area well as I spent 40 years working for YEB and built alot of the power lines in the area.
Took a bit of finding this culvert, but an interest one, even though I nearly breeched my waders...... thanks Pat

Nice one Patrick i bet you earned your post trail pint that day! It must have took a lot of tooing and frowing to set up those camera shots plus a lot of post video editing. Well done! It is that well put together it is up to and beats the standards of a professional BBC outdoor expo programme. It is almost as if somebody is there with you its that seamless.

Thanks for that, it was a pleasure to film, got a bit of a system now, first visit is rece and light painting, then follow with vidioing and finally add any audio to stills, seems to be working, thanks Pat
