Talking to a Master Perfumer yesterday I asked him about Synthetics and he mentioned that one can't be a s precise with naturals as with synthetic molecules because ther are much more "accurate" when it comes to scent cretation... I thought that was interesting.
For me personally I don't care if a cologne is natural or synthetic or a combination of both. As I've known that synthetic ingredients are oftentimes just an isolated material of the natural ingredient created a different way. So what matters for me is the experience a cologne creates and I'll admit I do tend to roll my eyes when people call a fragrance synthetic smelling because I doubt they can even tell when in my book a spade is a spade.
I agree. The experience for me is the key. Did it make me feel like sparkling (like JPG Le Male Le Parfum did), did it make me feel more clean (like Platinum Egoiste), cozy and warm (like Oud for greatness). They each have memories attached and can put me in a mindset.
So youre saying that synthetic compounds can have the same health effects as natural ones and that even if a product just says fragrance on the label and its made from a petroleum product, that usually if it smells like whatever its said to smell like then the structure of the fragrance youre smelling will be the same as the structure of the natural essential oil scent?
Everyone says Office for Men smells synthetic. But guess what: It‘s my most complimented fragrance. Are they chilling with hot girls like me? I DOUBT IT.

Wow, this video can be a game changer for how one sees this fragrance world. Like, I never thought about synthetic's ultimate challenge being trying to replicate with more and more accuracy the naturals.. So, once a synthetic reaches the perfect point it could replace the natural with no losses. Eventually the science may allow us to abandon the naturals for good, if it means great and affordable fragrances. (of course it will always be thoso who rather pay more for the exclusive and hard-to-make products)
Honestly....I never consider it. All of my fragrances I make are completed with synthetic materials...and I love them. I don't think I've ever smelled a natural scent but once in my life... A beloved friend brought me back a floral extract oil from one of her trips home to Egypt. For years I adored that oil...only taking it out to smell it once every few months. It was my reminder of her after we parted...a scent to accentuate the bittersweet memories. Eventually...I relented, and added the oil to perfumers alcohol and made it into a full fragrance. I've long since finished the fragrance and lost the scent to time...but for the time it remained, it reminded me of a grand love....lost.
Yet another fabulous video!!! 👏 Really appreciate the work you have put into its creation. Informative, super interesting and packed with knowledge. Truly a breath of fresh air! ☺️
Again, excellent video that really makes one think and is so different than any other frag youtube channel I know of, thanks. I prefer natural and haven’t bought into the whole ESG woke culture. Perfumerers job is to make and sell perfume, not worry about systainability, especially at cost that makes it unaffordable to public. People buy many name brand perfums because brand name invokes a memory or feeling for wearer. Natural gives same feeling, fur and synthethic fur are two totally different things even though both keep warm and look good.
Thank you John! I don’t see the point of making the same video that’s already out there. And besides that, as the worlds number 1 fragrance #unfluencer, nobody should care about my opinion anyway :) that’s why I prefer researching a topic and presenting my findings.
Thank you so much for putting in the effort on these videos. I really do eat this stuff up! There are plenty “Top 10 public restroom scents” and “Top 8 Niche Quality cheapies for burning tires to”. Everyone does that. You’re setting yourself apart from the rest of the crowd by bringing informative quality product to the fragrance community. Not just consumer level drivel. These are like taking undergrad courses to see if you want to go further. Wishing the best for you, Kamil! Your videos brighten up my day.😊
Thank you Robert! So I guess that means I should not post the "Top 10 Most Complicated Fragrances when going to the Kitchen to pick up some snacks at 2am" video...
This is a great video on this lesser talked about subject. Thanks for this! I work a lot with essential oils for home products and remedies...it's actually how I got interested in fragrances. Even something that's natural but concentrated won't be good for you in large doses. It's a misnomer that natural is always better, mainly because 'natural' as a term, is used rather broadly. I like both synthetic and natural fragrances. If I want uber natural, I'll mix my own essential oils with carrier oils like Jojoba. I personally believe that clean perfumes is more about another selling strategy that's in line with popular agendas than it is about the environment. Otherwise, you're point about the sheer amount that's made is an absolutely perfect point!
Very good, reflective and true sum-up of the topic! Thx! Its funny how you and your brother are like ying and yang or like the sun and the moon almost hahaha... :D This is the very opposite of J content. ;P
What im wondering, is how are we interpreting the scents in our minds actually? we know what it smells like but maybe our bodies dont react as good to synthetic if in reality synthetic causes health problems..or idk if synthetic causes health problems. i just dont know and are you saying the synthetic molecules are the same exact structure as natural ones?
@@ScentsWithBenefits Thank you for this information..based on that I cant see how synthetic could be cancerous and inflammatory like ive seen people say
You go to store - you test the smell of idk, perfume #2274 - if it smells good, you buy it. Simple. Easy. Capitalism works well when people consume like this. All perfume advertisement is contrary to that, as well as branding. If our politicians cared about the wellbeing of us, they would ban branding and advertisement.

Much appreciated

If it smell good, I like it. I'm a simple man
Hey man I'm looking for a date night fragrance for tropical weather since I'm from the Caribbean
I'd go with John Varvatos ARTISAN PURE but don't listen to my advice I'm the number 1 fragrance #unfluencer in the world.

@@profound369 I assume because there are also other molecules that one could form in the lab. Things that don’t exist in nature

God is so vast and super genius everything He created has the ability to recreate itself. Will nature ever have an end?
It would be hard to disagree with that
