Dear all!! - if you're looking for a good computer to run Inventor, you may then be interested to know that I have now developed and released the worlds most comprehensive FREE benchmarking test for Autodesk Inventor with a global online leaderboard. See the announcement video here ua-cam.com/video/Xck3lvuMRjM/v-deo.html and check out the leaderboard here invmark.cadac.com/#/ - the test was 100% designed from scratch through to release by myself, Neil Cross TFI.
As much as you do Inventor for beginners, I can offer you basic arithmetic for instructors... The calculator move will be long remembered!! Just love your shows - have watched them all and often go back on old ones for tips!
Late reply but might want to go to your installer and see if you've installed desktop content, and check the location of it. Copy that file path into the settings in inventor
Perfect timing! We just scrapped a bunch of old computers and I saved the hard drives for the magnets inside (also wanted to destroy them personally), when I was disassembling them I found a bearing that I think will work great in these. I hope to make a few this weekend for my nephews. Thanks for the video. Cheers mate!
I use ast bearings generator. because Inventor doesn't list the parameters when selecting. but after seeing the way you select I might give it another spin. Keep the good work Neil.
I’m working with inventor professional 2016 for my product modeling class and my professor has us learn our programs inside and out (I didn’t really understand cause you can’t learn much on the outside :/) but just watching you do this helped me get around as different as some stuff looks, thanks my dude.
Seriously, I am a student of mechanical engineering and I have always been scared of 3D CAD systems. In school we havent had basically any lesson about that yet and everything was like "DIY" :D but your videos make me laugh and actually learn something ! Great job man!! :)
Also can you do a video on exporting a file to retain it's colors given in Inventor? The best way I have found is to import the Inventor file into 3DS Max and export it as a .dae file from there.
For most parts in the CC , I like to use the model and part number from the vendor I am buying it from. In most cases, I use www.mcmaster.com/. I will download the model, then use the same part number as Mcmaster Carr. It makes it much easier for the purchasing department.
If anyone is stuck on making the bearings like I was. Make sure the measurements are correct. Before you start making the part and again loading it in Assembly. Change the measurements from default inches to millimeters. Tools/Document Settings/Units/Length (inches/mm)
You probably can't remember writing this, I've only just seen it now. But I've quit doing tutorials and this is one of the reasons why, you've smashed the nail on the head. If I made a tutorial video and "explained everything as I go" then I got absolutely demolished by whiny ungrateful dense pricks with zero attention span complaining about too much talking and the video being too long. You can make a short tutorial without explaining things but they're generally shit. In the end I got fed up with it dominating my thought process, getting too self conscious about the length of the videos that I just packed it in.
Hey Neil, I know this is a Decently Old Video, But can you either Make a Video or Tell me how to add Caps over the Bearings if you can do that? Many Thanks ZXAQXZyt

Hi. Great Video! I tried this on Inventor 2023 and I think there is an issue with the constrain part since mine fails to spin. Any advice? Thanks
Instead of using the calculator to determine the array angle of the bearings, you should just use "360/3" in the dialog box.
Instead of using the windows calculator you can just tell the pattern bar 360/3 for the angle. Works a treat.
Perfect Neil! Love how you stick to the fashion, but however teaching us good modelling stuff!

I can explain... erm, I was off that day in maths class
I have tried soo hard to make this, but i failed! Thank you for the class, and sharing your generous time!
mine said "Content Center query failed" when i reached the step at 11:54 of the video. can i have some help plz

It was worth watching the whole video just for the fillet. Thanks Neil!
Respect for the Fidget Buffering icon :))
nice touch!

Thanks for that, and you are an incredible singer, keep that up you really have something
@@Neil3D Thank you! Really :)
I never thought we would stoop so low 😂

My teacher wants me to make a fidget spinner for class lmao

Thanks so much for this video! This absolutely saved me on my Fidget Spinner project in PLTW
In my bearing generator, there is no default design. It is completely empty. Is it an addon to be installed seperately?
Not only is this a great tutorial. it is also great entertainment :D
how did you do the custom buffering gif type?
17:58 see you make the drive th spin... there THE LEFT Side how can make that side appear in my inventor
oooo man, i like how he made it all comical, i was laughing whole video
I don't have BSI - and when I do the bearings bit, there are no options to select... Any clues?
I'm on 2017
During Inventor installation you get a option to install Content Center, select BSI so that it'll install BSI standard Content..

i dont have the component sector in the left where you basicly make all your calculations how can i open it?

Dudeeeeeeeee! Thank you sooo fuckin' much.
man, your work is good.
Sir, you are a Genius!!!
**Makes a tutorial video and prefaces it with "I'm not going to be explaining everything as I go..."**
I followed along right away, never used Inventor in my life. Funny comment, but not accurate he shows you everything you need to know.

thanks for teaching me how to do my current project
What fabulous and amazing videos!!! thanks for share!!
Excellent tutorials. Thank you.
Any video on how to make a model that can print 2 colors combined?
I'm sorry but I started laughing out loud at the angle calculation part x) here I thought you were some kind of superhuman until this point ;)
Sir I can't Assemble my figet because bearing box shows in inches what can ido
