    Do you love or hate the YZ125?

    highly recomend the BRADs freightrain kit. it's expensive, but gives you more power off the bottom and turns the 125 into a little beast!

    Thanks for the review. I think I'm sold on the 125 platform for my 15y/o son and probably for myself also. Love your work. 🥰

    I would like too say that you have been truly inspiring in my journey of being a beginner in getting and eventually owning a dirt bike. I would love to see you do a video over dirt bike gear. I pretty much know the basics but it would nice to see in depth video about it.

    Love my YZ 125, only a 2001 but got it for £1400, put a new seat cover and graphics on and looks really nice with just small amount spent on it, great content 👍

    3:55 is me. Had a KLX140 for a while, but started riding MX so needed something better. I really wanted to learn clutch control and overall bike control and didn't wanna hop on a 250 because I'm barley big enough for a 125 as is. In march I picked up a 2022 YZ125 for a decent price and I love learning everything on it and getting comfortable. Im doing my first top end rebuild later this week bc theres a coolant leak up there lol

      That’s great to hear! Best of luck with the rebuild. It can be fun but also challenging at first haha. I just rebuilt mine before summer

      is there a lot of maintenance for the yz and how much is a top end

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  6 місяців тому

      Not too much maintenance needed for casual riding. Just check/clean your air filter regularly. Piston and rings for top end rebuild cost around $100-$150

    Was getting bored of my kx85, so I hoped on Facebook market place and found a 1978 yz125 for 800, got it running a riding perfect. About a month later decided do attend the local auction and picked up a 2022 yz125 for 1700, nothing wrong with it just no one was there to bid on a dirt bike. Some of the best times I’ve had on a dirt bike.

    I don't own one but I have a good friend that has one and he let ride it around a little bit and I love every second of it and before that I never rode any 2 strokes and at first it took a little bit to get ues to the power band but after I got ues to when it kick in and kind of stayed in it shifting gears I felt like it was better to control the whole bike and as a full size at 6'4" at still had a ton of get up and go

    Would a yz125 be good for someone thats 167 and if, is it good for someone who has ridden a motorcycle and knows the basics i have a 1980 rm50 and ive ripped it crazy for how little it is so would a yz125 be good for me?

    • @notsoupmoto

      167 lbs or 167cm tall? Either way really, yeah a 125 2 stroke is a great bike for both beginners with some experience and also people with a ton of experience. great all around bike

      the YZ125s made before 2005 will have a steel frame and some other differences. Check out this article to learn more about the changes Yamaha made in 2005 motocrossactionmag.com/on-the-record-complete-test-of-the-2005-yamaha-yz125/

    I like these bikes but I dont think I can ride them because of the seat height because im 5'1

    • @maxthornton5464
      @maxthornton5464 6 місяців тому

      i have one and i am 5'3 so you can just lower it

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  6 місяців тому

      Yes at 5’1” the 125 will be a bit tall for you.
      Look into the Kawasaki KX100 2-stroke. Similar power to the 125 (a bit less) but smaller chassis will fit you much better

    Hey I’m 13 190 pounds and 5’8 do you think this would be a good bike for me I currently have a Yamaha ttr 125 but I need more power so I was thinking of getting a yz125 or yz125x do you think it will be too much power

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  3 місяці тому

      It will be much more power than your ttr125, however it’s a good stepping stone between a trail bike like that and bigger bikes.
      If you ride mostly trails I’d go for the 125x but they’re probably going to be harder to find (used at least) than just a regular 125.
      For your size you’d fit a 125 2 stroke just fine. Just may need to adjust your suspension slightly but that’s with any bike

    Would you ever make your 125 a sumo or street legal?

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  2 місяці тому +1

      I thought about it before I got my DRZ but as I’ve been only riding dirt/off road recently I probably won’t make a sumo any time soon. Not out of the question entirely tho. They’re super sick

    What’s about the max weight limit for the yz125

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  6 місяців тому +1

      According to cycle news, talking about the 2022 yz125, it's "forgiving for riders up to about 175 pounds, max."
      That being said, you can always put stiffer springs on it and get the suspension set up for riders heavier than that.

      @@notsoupmoto damn im 220 i guess im gonna get something bigger.

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  Місяць тому

      you'd still be fine on a 125. the engine will carry your weight okay. just look into getting stiffer fork springs and adjusting the suspension and ur golden

      @@notsoupmoto I actually have 450fx as well and this x is soooo nice. I haven't ridden a 125 for over 20 yrs and haven't compared it to a new mx version but it really seems to have more rideable low to mid end and plenty of overall power and great handling.
