The only problem with that rearend are the aluminium covers, when you have a hard tumble the rc on it's side, what happens a few times of that and covers bend outward,( so if you hit hard on right side rear tire, it will push the left cover outward) which lets those gears crackle, from the extra room now to move around inside, and those can still be saved by either bending covers back in, becareful on bending back, and if you do that , when its all back together, make sure it moves freely, so you don't burnt out motor or controller, so if you ever scratched your head why new set of gears went so quickly, you have a answer ! i switch to the super blackfoot rearend much better and I run lippo's and a Castle motor 100,000, she is no longer a kids toy lol , Hope this help so you can save that old Blackfoot !
Appreciate the info, Richard. The ORV gearbox and trailing arms seem to be a real weak point on the big tire ORV's, don't they? I've got my Monster Beetle dialed in nicely now, the MIP ball diff was a life-saver! I even installed an aluminum chassis from Kingfly RC, it's awesome! 👌
Good idea. I put a 5mm id washer on the axle before installing it into the trailing arm. It took all the axle end play out and the CV hasn't popped once since.
Thank you, thank you. My brand new Monster Beetle was almost unusable. The Right rear dog bone would constantly pop out. I Carried our your fix this afternoon and even swapped out the motor for a torque tuned one. No problems at all. I can’t believe such a simple fix worked. I also can’t believe that Tamiya would release a kit with such a blatant issue! Does anyone have the part numbers for the dog bones and joints that I need for my Monster Beetle?
That's awesome news man, I'm happy it worked out for ya! Simple, kinda hack, but it works! Lol! I was also surprised that Tamiya would release a kit with such an obvious defect, but I guess not even Tamiya can be perfect all the time! 🙃
Poor Boys RC Mate. I was so pissed off yesterday morning!. It was literally every 30 seconds that right hand side would pop out. Like I said, stopped driving it. Did your fix and it worked. My New motor arrived yesterday afternoon and I fitted that and then ran that too. No issues at all. You’ve saved my Truck from a life day on the shelf!! 👍🏽
@@Chazzz1980 that's awesome buddy, glad it worked out for you! I was in the exact same boat as you were just after the first run with my MB. Couldn't go 50 feet without the dogbone popping out, it was undriveable! Thank goodness for tie-straps, and UA-cam! 👊😄👊
I've done the same thing! This mod worked, but wasn't 100% so I went ahead and spent the $$$ on Frog dogbones and outdrives, and never had an issue since! 👊🍺
Thanks for making the video. I keep having to share your video to different Facebook groups. People have a hard time using google or UA-cam to find answers themselves.
Cool & thanks for adding this to my post plea for help - now got a tight back end - always a good thing
+1 for a tight back end! Hahaha! 👌

Holly Hill RC cheap is good, right?!?! Go get your hands on a MB and we’ll chat! :)
Easy fix and inexpensive, I love it.

Where did you get the lexan blackfoot body?
Hey pal, not sure what you're referring to? I don't reckon I have a lexan Blackfoot body. 🤷♂️
I have a Blackfoot but there is two little holes in back so if I think it will work
Insert name here that’s awesome! Give it a whirl and let me know how it goes!!!

What’s a frog p mount look like
Not sure what you mean by "frog p mount", can you explain?
It’s the aluminium plate that holds the front of the trailing arm (where it pivots).
Ze Bettalllll nice!
The algorithm doesn't stand a chance!!! 🤣💨💨💨
