You are right on there. It's not always necessary to have ultra high performance motors. A lot of fun can be had with a mild motor. I give you an example. I put a 15 turn motor into a Tamiya Hornet. It was too much. The poor little Hornet went from looking beautiful and shiny to looking old and scuffed up because the car couldn't handle that motor. The Hornet kept rolling over and landing on its roof , then I returned the original Tamiya silver can motor and it was beautiful , drove so much better. The Hornet would roll over if I turned the steering suddenly. Conversely I put the same motor in a new Fox ( Nova Fox ) and that Fox handles so much better than the Hornet. But yes you are 110% correct. These are 30-40 year old designs from Tamiya. And they were not meant to have extra high performance. More for fun . These days we can buy ready to run cars straight out of the box and they travel very fast but to me they lack soul. They are not like a Tamiya kit that we can invest time into . I love Tamiya. Ever since I was 13-14 years old and I'm now 50 . Keep the great work coming Matteo I'm subscribed 👌👍💪
I put an MIP in my Blackfoot and it's fantastic with a Proline F-150 SVT shell. Thanks for the video, Matteo! 3600kv brushless and no problems after many runs.
Thanks for sharing Matteo. Yes, honestly, I think brushless motors are to much for many Tamiya rerelease cars and trucks. To me, it takes the fun out of the vehicle. Honestly, I never had any problem with my blackfoot tranny back in the days. I installed a Revtech super stock motor back in the days and my blackfoot ran flawlessly. I guess I had some luck with my blackfoot. After seeing so many of your videos I'm thinking of buying another blackfoot. But since I had one back in 90' I'm thinking of getting a Monster beetle since I never had the chance to own one back in the day. Thanks Matteo for your hardwork. You never seem to disappoint! Mahalo from Hawaii!!!
Thanks Christopher! Absolutely agree with your words! In all my classic Tamiyas I use the stock motors and it's fun enough! This one I only changed to test the MIP gears. The best way for you is to get a Blackfoot and a Monster Beetle! 👍😊
17.5 is just about right for more of them, big boost in torque without making them too fast. And that extra torque is why you need upgraded gears, even a 17.5 will have more than hot motors from back in the day.
This is a great, easy to follow tutorial, as well as being both a fun insight into going brushless on a Monster Beetle and a "ignore at your peril"· warning about the heartache that can result from overpowering a vintage rc car : )

you need a wheelie bar on the back of that beetle, when i had the midnight pumpkin i changed the motor who i bought off a school friend at the time called the mega motor, man Ive never seen something like that move so fast
Nice. I like your work Matteo. The rear wishbone set up by Ampro Engineering does make the car much more stable in turns. I have mounted my steering servo in the centre and put TRF shocks on my beetle. It handles much better. I haven't installed my MIP diff yet though.
and I just seen the re re's now and since end of December last year and till now I have frog 🐸 and now hotshot but still not finished yet to paint hotshot body. Thanks and keep up the great vids!! 👌Allan from Sydney Australia.
Classic tamiya brushless first experience at 8:04, apply throtle part breaks off. The MiP diff does seem like a wonderful item tho. Great vid. Hope you got your beetles small damages fixed, it was in the name of science and education after all, a worthy cause to lose a few parts on. :D
😄 these old school remakes make me very happy! I got into the hobby in '81-'83, the RockBuster from World engines was my first rc car ever! Thanks for taking me back to my child good even if only for a moment. Thank you again sir well done!
That diff should work in a Frog or Subaru too, same gearbox I'm sure. I wonder what it would have been like if brushless motors and Lipo's were around 25 years ago? I'm getting back into the hobby it's changed greatly since I bought my first Frog in 1990.
Yes, the gearbox in Frog and Brat are nearly the same. But because of the bigger tires the Blackfoot and Monster Beetle have different gear ratios. It means the pinion and spur gear is not the same, and this requires additional parts to install the MIP diff. Sometimes I long back for the good old times... Only silver cans and Technigolds and 5 min run time.... Thanks for your good feedback!
Tamiya kits are great to build, the bodies are nice and detailed. But that's about it, just put it on a shelf an enjoy the view. And in time they will fetch good money too at least the '80 releases did. My litle Latrax Teton BL with ball diffs will run circles around the MB all day on 2s even (3s is scary tho) Still nice to see you enjoy it nice vid, thumbs up
Great video as always, cosiderate and easy to follow..I really got a laugh from the first rollover (@9:00)and last second recovery to a wheelie rollover..pure gold man😂 thanks
Great video!! I agree, the MIP ball diff is an excellent upgrade for any MB or BF but brushless motors are too powerful for this chassis/gearbox. I'm currently performing a light restoration of an original MB and going to run the MIP ball diff with a vintage Technigold brushed motor.
Thanks for this video too Mateo, I'm new here and I'm starting to see all your videos, best so far, you put a lot of effort and is nice, running videos are amazing and when you explain something too (my G500 body is looking great with this PS 5, I learned to paint this lexan with your G500 video).... I'm trying to get now a Subaru Brat blue version or black monster beetle and still I can't figure witch one I will have more fun on sand. Love the lexan body... but monster buggy doesn't have and the Brat seems to low for sand. I love it the painting part. Thanks!
Go for a 3000kv 3652 Motor at 2s Lipo in the Monster Beetle (with the MIP Diff). 40min runtime with 5Ah battery. 38km/h Top speed. Motor is NOT hot after 90min running time (2 battery packs) ! MUCH more fun than stock brushed motor :) Robitronic Razer 3000kv combo costs only 50 bucks and fits PERFECTLY. I never had such a WIDE TAMIYA GRIN on my face as today with the BL combo :)
@@Matteomeier I will ! The Beetle runs flawlessly now after all the predetermined breaking points have done their job and have finally been reinforced.
Just as any other Tamiya, if it goes brushless, it has to be adult driven. Its no Traxxas! Nice video, nice tutorial Matteo. But I'll just keep mine on a 20T brushed motor.
@@Matteomeier My (freshly bought) Torque Tuned Tamiya Motor died after one summer of intense driving (10-15 hours total). I used a DIY 2s4p Li-Ion battery most of the time (running time: 40min). The last run in the grass and the fallen leaves must have been too much heat for the motor....There was also quite steep inclination...All 3 factors together were too much heat strain, I guess (though it was quite cold outside => 9 degrees centigrate). Imagine that scenario with the higher rpm 540 Standard motor and during the summertime !!! So I upgraded to brushless now.
I would run like a 17.5t sensored 2 pole brushless motor with the tble-02s on this ORV platform, chassis just not stable enough. the only tamiyas I have tried that handles a castle 3800kv 1410 is either a Madbull (with oil shocks) or newer DT-03 buggies.
Yes, of course this old ORV's are not build for this kind of power, it was only an experiment to see how the ball diff handels this power! Thanks Jerry! 👍😊😊
Fantastic video Matteo! I bought 2, one for my Beetle and one for my Blackfoot. The plan is to run 17.5 brushless setups which I think is the sweet spot.
Well-done and with useful comments. One suggestion: replace the Molex/Tamiya battery connector with something less lossy. Those connectors are OK at the beginning, but with very few cycles, the contacts loosen up, which leads to a high impedance connection. You will know this is happening when you disconnect the battery and feel that the connectors are warm or hot. I have switched my whole fleet over to EC5, as they can handle a lot of current. In hindsight, EC3 or XT60 would have been more appropriate and easier to plug/unplug. As an electrical engineer, the idea of losing power and creating heat in a connection is unacceptable to me. Even with the stock Mabuchi 540 motor, I don't like to throw power away. By the way, I wonder what is a "mild brushless" motor replacement for the Mabuchi 540? Something that gives maybe 25% more speed, but also with higher efficiency. Maybe the overall length would be shorter, or maybe they would just waste some space inside the can to make it the same overall length?
Thanks for your good feedback! Yes, it's correct, Tamiya connectors are very bad and not state of the art today. But I have so much old cars with them, on my newer cars with lipo power I use XT60 connectors. 👍
Hallo, super Video , super Umbau.
I'm not planning on running it beyond stock electronics, but this little bit of bulletproofing will be greatly appreciated! I agree, it's expensive, though. :)
Crazy fast with that castle brushless motor, no need to go back to brushed motors. Just fit a ezrun 3650 3000kv or 3300kv motor, if the castle motor is to powerful for it.
When you assemble a ball diff, you should rotate the diff at the same time you tighten the main screw, so the ball bearings won't make small dents in the washers. After assembly, you should loosen the main screw slightly, so the diff can rotate without binding.
GIANT Thumbs UP for this, WOW. I did cringe as the license plate flew off, but it didn't affect you at all, what a pro. I think the body you have is now a trophy for such a great first run with the Super Ball diff. I think Parma made the lexan body for the MB, but no decals of course and perhaps Kamtech made a good one that fits in lexan too over on that side of the pond. I have to rework my classic MB with this to enjoy it more. WHEELIE bar and perhaps a Wild WHEELIE Willy driver figure too. :D
Great installment and test. Have mine waiting to be installed. That was a seriously fast MB. I 'like' how both you and Alberto crushed your bodies on your individual diff test runs. New weak spot ;-) But too bad about your body. That was a serious amount of work and paint job destroyed. But a very good video. I believe in the diff now :-)
Thanks! Yes, the new body is already arrived, but I am afraid of the work... I will repair the broken body and use it as "drive shell" and the new one only for the shelf.
Nice Matteo, but after doing the body that nice (primer, paint, decal, etc.) I personally would never run a brushless MB with the shell on! Thats just me!
Hi Matteo. That monster beetle is quick i was wounded when you broke the body i don’t remember the body shells being that weak in fact i gave my friend a go of my vintage mb back in the 90s and he ran it under a moving car it was still driving when it came out of the other side it had turned it into a converable. I am doing a re release beetle body and was wondering if you know any strengthening methods for the body as they are very weak i was thinking like some silver gorilla tape on the weak spots around the inside of the body any surgeons i would like to hear. 👍🏻
In my opinion, hard plastic bodies are always weak. There is no method of strengthening them that would really work. Today's motors are much more powerful than in the past, so they break much more easily. The only thing that can help is to be very careful when driving, or to use a polycarbonate body....
Very nice upgrades ! I did cringe a little when you wheelied on the asphalt ! The monster Beetle was my first hobby grade rc and I miss it and need one of these Re release models.
Matteo's RC Movies I raced a Frog back in the days and can't remember (30 years ago 😊) I had many problems with the diff. I used modified motors, but those were brushed... Didn't jump it from too high to... I do remember I used the CRP rear skid plate to protect the gearbox (Ampro makes them to now). Nevertheless this diff looks awesome. Can you adjust the stiffnes? I saw you tighten the screw pretty tight.
Great job as usual Matteo. I just received two for my Tamiya's, and thanks for the detailed "how to" video. I think I will leave mine with a modded brushed combo. Asplenia.
Great tuning! In the next time I Ask You some information.. for installing this in my hold monster beetle in piace of the thorp ball diff. Good video Matteo!
Thank you for the info...I was hoping they would come out with better gearing for this truck..Especially with all of the brushless systems that are out..You would like to add some punch and speed on a true classic kit without destroying any of the gears..Thanks again
Hello Mateo, Thanks for sharing your usual feedback. I would like to give a rebirth to my own 1987 Monster Beetle. I am very interested in your Sidewinder and Castle motor, what model is it exactly? Does is work with LiPo battery only? Any idea where I can this combo? Many thanks!
It's the 4600kv motor from the Sidewinder 3 combo. It works with every battery but have more power with lipo. Search on google where you can get it in your area. 😊
great tutorial ... was it me or did the gearbox go quitely when you compressed the suspension when you run it on the bench. and just like j clarkson says POWER ... yeah I think you will go through a few shells tbh . i have done the same with my stadium blitzer by installing a brushless set up but I have also gone for a set of proline road rage tyres and the handling is far better but as like your shell the rear of my shell takes the brunt of the power as it's became a wheelie machine. i luckily managed to get a new shell
aphex4000 thanks for that I was just wondering. but funny you should say that as my stadium blitzer makes a similar sound with a brushless setup when i push it back and forth but when under power the noise aint there . the noise aint present with the standard can installed
Great video, very helpful and will definitely refer to this when I install my diff! I think that motor was a bit too much, i actually winced in sympathy when the beetle rolled in the gravel.
i got my beetle just after you did this video, but haven't got around to opening it yet, was just wondering what kv motor you installed, if i had to guess i would say 4600kv, I was thinking i might go with a 3800kv or maybe just a safe tamiya torque turned motor, like you said i don't want to destroy the car, on a side note i couldn't help but notice your California shirt that's where i live, you are a very cool dude, as the Californians say.
yes, born in orange county and lived in southern California, no cold or snow, but moved to northern California 10 years ago ,big difference, here it gets below freezing quite often in winter, my wife and kids think its the north pole, was filming yesterday to show how rc motors can overheat when over geared but it was 20 degrees and motor never even got warm, maybe will try again in summer..
Great video, I had an original in 1986, and have built the new one. I watched the whole video trying to get an idea on what KV you were running, and could not figure it out. I ordered a 3000kv system for mine, and will be getting the Ampro rear suspension system/MIP diff. I am basically building the Beetle I wish I had in 1986. I bet I had in the top 1% of mileage on a single RC car with that thing. Daily driven for years.... I cut slots in the diff/axle cups in mine when I was about 10, and put in Tamiya Striker/Futaba FX-10 dog bones with the stock cups, lol!
Danke Andreas!
What a great blast from the past 👍👍 I have had the privilege to own both original monster/B.and The Back foot man oh man times have changed ... wish I still had my original ones ...thanks for the vids my friend..
Brilliant and informative video, thanks so much, could I ask a couple of questions as I’ve just bought the MIP as I broke the standard gearbox in the first couple of days! What are the exact specification tools that I need? Your brushless motor seems very powerful, is there an upgrade from the standard motor that is not quite as powerful. Which servo are you using as the ones mine came with seem pretty weak? Many thanks!
I recommend to use a bit better standard motor like the torque tuned motor from Tamiya. The servo I normally use in this cars is a Futaba S9001. You need a set of hex drivers and Philips drivers, of course a pliers.
Awesome vids Matteo what is the model of the motor you have on your MB re re and besides the mip diff upgrade did you do anything else? I'm getting a monster beetle soon as well I all ready have the frog re re and I just finished the hotshot re re. Did you make or are you going to make any vids on the frog or hotshot up grades it's been a long time since I seen Tamiya And I never owned one ever they were to expensive back then. vvv
BuoyEngine Hi Buoy. How are you? The Lunchbox doesnt need this upgrade, the stock diff can handle it perfectly. I thought your Lunchbox was running brushless also?
Hi thank you! Yes I am fine! I see! I think that's correct. the LunchBox has good performance. Yes, I have been using with brushless on LunchBox. I wonder ... if install the ball diff and or diff lock.. How will it good or bad...(^u^)
Was kostet der Umbau?
I remember building one of these 30 years or so ago. What a difference in what we have available now. The hobby has come a very long way. I can't wait to see where we are in another 30 years!

Thanks Jacob! Yes, it was too much! :-)
Wow Matteo, the Monster Beetle flies with the Castle combo in it !!!
Yes, thanks! Maybe a bit too much!
You're right, it would be better to put a good brushed motor ( more powerful than stock ) in the Monster Beetle or Blackfoot.
Think I will use this diff and a torque tuned brush motor for mine.
Good combination! 👍

All that damage to the Body...and the Mirrors stayed in one piece!!!! It's a miracle lol :)
Yes! 😂👍
Nothing more fun than a Tamiya with more power than it was ever designed for ! Seemed to handle it pretty well and the ball diff looks like a well engineered bit of kit. Anyway great vid Matteo :-)
Thanks Pete! New shell is already here!
Great little buggy, shows you've put work into him also,
Thank you! 👍😊
Wow it's so fast with the upgraded motor and speed controller 👍👍👍😀 truly a "monster" beetle ✌✌😎
Thanks 👍
I thought you were crazy for installing a brushless system, but I understand why. Thanks for another great vid.
Thanks! Maybe it was really a bit crazy...
Sehr unterhaltsam!
That looks a lot of fun Matteo! I am about to install the MIP diff in my Monster Beetle but will stick with the standard motor for now.
Thanks Dave! It's a good decision to go with the standard motor!
you need a wheelie bar on the back of that beetle, when i had the midnight pumpkin i changed the motor who i bought off a school friend at the time called the mega motor, man Ive never seen something like that move so fast
Yes! Thanks Kane! 👍😊😊
Nice. I like your work Matteo.
The rear wishbone set up by Ampro Engineering does make the car much more stable in turns.
I have mounted my steering servo in the centre and put TRF shocks on my beetle. It handles much better.
I haven't installed my MIP diff yet though.
Thanks! Of course these are good options!
and I just seen the re re's now and since end of December last year and till now I have frog 🐸 and now hotshot but still not finished yet to paint hotshot body.
Thanks for your good Feedback! 👍😊
You need a wheelie bar now! Wow it rips good job!
Yes! It needs a wheelie bar! 👍👍 Thanks!
You can adjust the startup power on the Castle ESC, so that it won't do wheelies when you punch it.
Ohh, thats good! Thanks! Otherwise I like to have that punch...
Tamiya kits are great to build, the bodies are nice and detailed. But that's about it, just put it on a shelf an enjoy the view.
And in time they will fetch good money too at least the '80 releases did. My litle Latrax Teton BL with ball diffs will run circles around the MB all day on 2s even (3s is scary tho) Still nice to see you enjoy it nice vid, thumbs up
Thanks for your feedback, you're right, but in my opinion not only power is needed to have fun.
Great video as always, cosiderate and easy to follow..I really got a laugh from the first rollover (@9:00)and last second recovery to a wheelie rollover..pure gold man😂 thanks
Thanks Paul for your nice feedback! Glad you liked it! 🙏
Great video!! I agree, the MIP ball diff is an excellent upgrade for any MB or BF but brushless motors are too powerful for this chassis/gearbox. I'm currently performing a light restoration of an original MB and going to run the MIP ball diff with a vintage Technigold brushed motor.
Yes, your right. A mild tuned brushed motor suits better in these old chassis. 👍😊
Always great to watch your mod vids! can't wait for the next painting project!
Thanks! Glad you like my videos!
Really great beetle !! Nice upgrade and excellent job !!
Thank you so much for your nice feedback!
Thanks!
Thanks Martin! Yes, on sand a bit bigger tires are better! Have fun! 👍😊
I am so glad I have seen this video. I have installed a brushless motor and was concerned about the gearbox. Shall buy this asap
Thanks Thomas! Glad it was helpful! 😊
Great vid, I would love to see this brushless system fitted to your hotshot
Thanks! But normally I do not like these overpowered machines!
That's great! Sound good! Have fun! 👍👍😊😊😊
@@Matteomeier I will ! The Beetle runs flawlessly now after all the predetermined breaking points have done their job and have finally been reinforced.
Now I need a the super ball diff, every time i pull the gas, the gears strip like crazy
Yes you do!
Yes, the super ball diff solves this problem!
Awesome! I've also got my MIP ball diff waiting to go into a Monster Beetle Re-re
Thats good! Have fun with yours!
Just as any other Tamiya, if it goes brushless, it has to be adult driven. Its no Traxxas!
Nice video, nice tutorial Matteo.
But I'll just keep mine on a 20T brushed motor.
That's good! Yes, Tamiyas are no toys! Thank so much, and as I said in the video, I think the brushed motor is the perfect drive for it!
just ..... drive fast , lol
Wow, brushless power! And very good diff!
Thanks! Yes it is!
Danke für dein nettes Feed back!
Fantastic video Matteo! I bought 2, one for my Beetle and one for my Blackfoot. The plan is to run 17.5 brushless setups which I think is the sweet spot.
Thanks! Thats good, a really great upgrade!
A Monster indeed! I think some of the body issues came from the colder temps.. Awesome Beetle sir!
Yes, this is another factor! Waiting for summer....
Thanks Chris!
I love vintage rc cars, I started with a car that you had to reverse to turn because the steering had only one direction lol
Yes, me too! Remember, when I was a kid played with motorised toy cars controllable via cable... loved it! It was the precursor model of RC...
Great filming by the way.
Thank you John! 👍
Very important information now for my Lunchbox. I want to install a brushless motor.
But the Lunchbox has a completely different gearbox. It's better as the Monster Beetle gears. 👍😊
Wow that super ball diff works great! :-)
Yes it does! Thanks for your feedback!
Any time il upgrade my Beetle soon as well.
Hallo, super Video , super Umbau.
I'm not planning on running it beyond stock electronics, but this little bit of bulletproofing will be greatly appreciated! I agree, it's expensive, though. :)
Thanks Ignus! Yes bit expensive but worth the money!
Thanks Matteo
you've done it again.
Thanks again for your nice comment!
Awesome upgrade! Looks really powerful now! Thumbs up!
Thanks Jason!
I'll be ordering mine ❤ Thank you for the video
Danke! Ja das ist es auf jeden Fall!
I thought it was funny when he said.."eeensert dee balls!" Lol
😂😂😂 What do you think about! 🤣🤣
Crazy fast with that castle brushless motor, no need to go back to brushed motors. Just fit a ezrun 3650 3000kv or 3300kv motor, if the castle motor is to powerful for it.
That's true of course! Thanks! 👍
That is awesome! A brushless monster beetle! great video thumbs up!
Thanks Ricky!
When you assemble a ball diff, you should rotate the diff at the same time you tighten the main screw, so the ball bearings won't make small dents in the washers. After assembly, you should loosen the main screw slightly, so the diff can rotate without binding.
Thanks for your advice Shawn!
Cool, thanks! Yes, a Wild Willy driver figure is a great idea!
Matteo's RC Movies Excellent idea! Your old still looks good and can take more once the cracks are reinforced.
I am having a heck of a time with getting rubber boot on! Way too tight.
Now I see I need a MIP.
Nice Matteo, but after doing the body that nice (primer, paint, decal, etc.) I personally would never run a brushless MB with the shell on! Thats just me!
Principally I have the same thinking.... but I liked to know how the MIP diff can handle this power...
The only thing that can help is to be very careful when driving, or to use a polycarbonate body....
same with me and my friend me:13 friend:15 we have our hobby room hobby shed where we prep both of our upgraded hsp xstr pros brushless
I see, you enjoy the hobby!
Very nice upgrades ! I did cringe a little when you wheelied on the asphalt ! The monster Beetle was my first hobby grade rc and I miss it and need one of these Re release models.
Yes, the Beetle is cult! Thanks for your nice feedback!
That's sick! Isn't there a wheelie bar on some of the cars with that chassie? Maye something like it would fit. Cause you need it :P
Yes, definitive I need one! Thanks Roger!
That thing Boogies Mateo! Wow😀
Thanks Jesse! 👍😊
@@Matteomeier your Welcome Mateo.
You have so nice English! I understand everything you are saying. Very interesting video! Waiting for your next video!
Thank you so much for your nice feedback! I appreciate it, sometimes I think my english sounds terrible!
Ahaa! You got yourself a MIP dif to 😀. Thanks for making this video!
Yes, I think every owner of MB ore BF need this!
Yes, you can adjust it by tighten the screw, and yes I like it hard.
Is this your vintage monster beetle or re release ?
It's a re-release👍
Great job as usual Matteo.
I just received two for my Tamiya's, and thanks for the detailed "how to" video.
I think I will leave mine with a modded brushed combo.
Asplenia.
This is nice! I am sure you will have fun with yours! Thanks Asplenia!
That Ball Diff is Similar to The Team Associated RC10T Stealth Transmission.
It is quite possible, Ball diffs are the same in terms of design...
Great tuning! In the next time I Ask You some information.. for installing this in my hold monster beetle in piace of the thorp ball diff. Good video Matteo!
Thanks denny!
Thank you for the info...I was hoping they would come out with better gearing
for this truck..Especially with all of the brushless systems that are out..You would
like to add some punch and speed on a true classic kit without destroying any of the gears..Thanks again
Thanks for your nice feedback!
Hello Mateo,
Thanks for sharing your usual feedback.
great tutorial ... was it me or did the gearbox go quitely when you compressed the suspension when you run it on the bench.
and just like j clarkson says POWER ... yeah I think you will go through a few shells tbh . i have done the same with my stadium blitzer by installing a brushless set up but I have also gone for a set of proline road rage tyres and the handling is far better but as like your shell the rear of my shell takes the brunt of the power as it's became a wheelie machine. i luckily managed to get a new shell
madtopp yes, the universal joints chatter in the differential cups until the rear suspension is slightly compressed
Thanks! Yes, my new body is already here!
aphex4000
thanks for that I was just wondering. but funny you should say that as my stadium blitzer makes a similar sound with a brushless
setup when i push it back and forth but when under power the noise aint there . the noise aint present with the standard can installed
Great video, very helpful and will definitely refer to this when I install my diff! I think that motor was a bit too much, i actually winced in sympathy when the beetle rolled in the gravel.
Thanks! Yes, as I said in the video, I think it also a bit too much!
Firstly thank you for making video's. Secondly a Sport Tuned motor would be the best in you opinion? Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks Marc! Yes, I think this would be a good option! 👍
i got my beetle just after you did this video, but haven't got around to opening it yet, was just wondering what kv motor you installed, if i had to guess i would say 4600kv, I was thinking i might go with a 3800kv or maybe just a safe tamiya torque turned motor, like you said i don't want to destroy the car, on a side note i couldn't help but notice your California shirt that's where i live, you are a very cool dude, as the Californians say.
Thanks Mike! Yes, it's a 4600kv motor. You lucky californian guy, always nice weather! 😊
yes, born in orange county and lived in southern California, no cold or snow, but moved to northern California 10 years ago ,big difference, here it gets below freezing quite often in winter, my wife and kids think its the north pole, was filming yesterday to show how rc motors can overheat when over geared but it was 20 degrees and motor never even got warm, maybe will try again in summer..
As always amazing video
Thank you!
Awesome video .. look at it go 😃
Matteo, thanks for the great vid! Good upgrade, certainly looking in to it! Regards
Thanks for your positive feedback Christiaan!
Matteo which battery did you use on this set up? Ima try similar set up on a new mb otw. Thanks for video sir.
I used a 2cell lipo from Team Orion (Rocket Sport Pack)
What a great blast from the past 👍👍 I have had the privilege to own both original monster/B.and The Back foot man oh man times have changed ... wish I still had my original ones ...thanks for the vids my friend..
Thanks for your nice feedback Justin! Thanks to the re-releases the iconic cars from back then are here again! 👍
Is there a similar new design, what are the current
monster truck RCs. Are there any?
Hi there, great video thank you, what turn motor is this castle motor ?
Thanks, it have 4600 kv
@@Matteomeier Running it with 3S? Just got my BL4300 today...
You need a set of hex drivers and Philips drivers, of course a pliers.
wise words from a lot of experience there :)
Thanks! 🙏😊
Probably only Thing i like from MIP these days.
Awesome vids Matteo what is the model of the motor you have on your MB re re and besides the mip diff upgrade did you do anything else?
I'm getting a monster beetle soon as well I all ready have the frog re re and I just finished the hotshot re re.
Did you make or are you going to make any vids on the frog or hotshot up grades it's been a long time since I seen Tamiya And I never owned one ever they were to expensive back then. vvv
Thanks Allen! The motor is Sidwinder 3 from Castle, 4600 kv. I've dit nothing else on the chassis.
Excellent cheers.
It is a good idea! the running will be more more awesome and fun!
this made me want to install one too, such as ...LunchBox..?..wonder if it exist...
BuoyEngine uhm no, I think It's a bad idea to lock the diff on the Lunchbox :)
hahaha, It's maybe become a straight only RC car :)
It's good, so you can save the steering servo! :-)
Thanks for your feedback!
Was kostet der Umbau?
