There's something really touching about seeing MGMT go through so many periods of cynicism towards the music industry and world to coming out with such a pleasant song about appreciating the friendship you've carried through it all. It's so easy to give in to our pain and frustrations but this is a great reminder (at least for me) that there's more to life than that.

I never cease to be amazed by how melodic and inventive and challenging and gorgeous their music is. They are one of the best bands I’ve ever heard.

YEP fat agree with all of what you guys said. Yeah they know how to balance catchiness and pop sensibilities with smart chord progressions and great harmonies and yeah just great fuckin songs. They’re up there with arcade fire and modest mouse for me as the best indie bands ever

It reminded me so much of one of my favorite Beatles deep cuts Only A Northern Song with their little bits of musique concrète as they fade out. As a progressive rock and psychedelia fan I also really enjoy Siberian Breaks and Metanoia cause they both scratch my brain in just the right spots y’know lol

One of the few bands that’s been extremely cohesive throughout the years. From middle school to now (28 years old) still my all time favorite. Love you guys
29 years old, myself, and MGMT is by far my favorite group ever. Right next to Pink Floyd of all groups. MGMT is without a doubt the modern-day PF.

They also have been very experimental in some ways. They always feel catchy and similar enough to enjoy but unique enough to have their own sound and creativity.

I seriously think When you Die is my favorite tune of theirs. It felt like a true culmination of all of the material they've ever released into one track. Perfect mix of experimentation, and commercial music. AMAZING tune!

I remember listening to mgmt "kids" the first time smoking weed in my bedroom in 2008, living a rough reality, it always took me to a happy go lucky party mentality. 15 years later I'm still loving their music & smoking weed/drinking with my wife in our bedroom in a much better place now. Life's wild & having wild musicians like mgmt makes the ride so much better.

by far their best work on the album. simple yet powerful in messaging and melancholic. don't get me wrong, the other tracks are fantastic, but they explore more complexities in love and self-consciousness that have often been overdone in other songs. this touches a topic that is never really explored much: friendship. their friendship.

Its crazy thinking back to early January 2008 when I drove to Austin Tx to see them play and was the day they physically released Oracular Spectacular. I remember Andrew gave a shout out to Heath Ledger before they started playing cuz he unfortunately passed away that same day. But they were just blowing up and played the best show ever. I had never seen or heard anything quite like that and when Congratulations came out, I knew they were the real deal. They've enriched so many lives and gave such a contribution to music in a time where there's not a whole lot to be inspired by. This new song shows how far theyve come and I have no doubt the rest of the album is gonna be sick.
This is a top 3 MGMT song for sure. I dont even know what the other two would be, but this is #3 at the very least. Absolute masterpiece song, ive listened so many times and its never stops making me feel emotional. I wanna get a tattoo that says "i understand your hesitation", that line makes me crumble. Its like being given a hug. Absolutely stunning song

From their Rolling Stone interview they’ve said they don’t having anything booked. They’ve always felt like more of a studio band (their words). Don’t seem to be in a rush to tour but I’m sure there’ll eventually be one.

There will always be something that separates this band from everybody else. I think it’s the meticulous way they go about things. You can tell that every LP has been tinkered over, mulled over, refitted until it’s perfect to them. They don’t conform to release schedules and just post stuff when it’s actually done.
