FRENCH PROVINCIAL dresser set makeover using white wash || AMAZING trash to treasure TRANSFORMATION

- In today’s furniture flipping video, I take an unwanted French provincial dresser and nightstand set and give them a complete 180 transformation. I paint the entire dresser a beautiful dark green color and keep the entire top bare natural wood while giving it a light white wash to take some of the yellow tint out of the wood color. I then take the real brass handles and polish them up using bar keepers friend while still keeping some of its patina. Over all I am super excited with the way these pieces came out and I hope you are as well.

Great work, beautifull colors
Thank you so much. I’m so glad you think so. Take care and have a happy new year
I love the contrast between the greenish of the body and the white washed paint on the top.
I have a huge china hutch at home but I never get my hand on it. This Eastern Week I going to tackle it: I'm going to combine olive green color in some areas with stained wood in others. I think it'll turn well
Thank you so much for the compliment. Hutches are definitely a huge task to tackle. But I’m sure it will turn out beautifully. Best of luck and take care. Feel free to reach out via instagram with finished photos. I love looking at others work.
@@CedarPineDesigns Ok. I'll do it
Just wow. That finish is perfect!
Thank you so much. I’m really glad you like the finished reveal.

Great color and contrast. GORGEOUS!!
Wow. Thank you so much. I truly do appreciate all the positive feedback from you. It means a great deal to me.
Congratulations on that fantastic job.
I love the green color you did. Itatches very well with the bricks on your wall too.
I am working on outdated henry2 furniture and I am still wondering what color would match better with the stonewalls in our 18th century farmhouse in the south of France.
Would love to hear your ideas on that!
Can you give me some photos for reference. You can send them to my instagram. Thank you so much for the compliment
That is a great color for this piece and the white washed top goes well with the green and the hardware.
Very nicely done!
Thank you so much. I means a lot to get such positive and compliments such as yours. I’m blown away from all the support I’m getting. Thank you again and take care.
Samuel, another great job! Keep up the good work.👍

Absolutely beautiful! You're awesome, love this!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it
Stunning x
ID like to recommend the Diablo it saves your hands it really does
What is the Diablo?
Beautiful transformation as always. The darker olive green really stands out to accent the French provincial look! I’ll have to try the white wash stain. Great work!
Thank you so much. The white wash stain is sooo easy to use. It’s great. Thank you again.
Beautiful set. Congratulatins on your profits.
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support and kind words.
I have this same exact dresser and plan on doing something similar!! Having a hard time finding hardware I like tho! This came out beautifully!! Great job!
Thank you so much. Good luck with your project
Such a Beautiful set Samuel....nice work🥰👍
Thank you so much Debra. I have the exact same set again. Just trying to find a good color.
@@CedarPineDesigns do like a Eucalyptus or Light sage green Samuel...That is such a Beautiful neutral color with a Natural wood Top of Very least like a wash of Same color ..as Most other flippers with provincial dressers ALWAYS stick to Black Or Pink or white ...I think this Very light Sage or eucalyptus from fusion and natural wood top will Separate you from the others🥰👍
@@debraneria4242 wow. Thanks deb for the advice and info. I will definitely take a look at some of the color you suggested.
@@CedarPineDesigns absolutely ....I Already KNOW how beautiful this piece will come out...and most the reason to Why I suggest the Light sage type green is I Know some People would LOVE to Use a French provincial as a Sideboard in a dining room and those Predictable Colors Pretty Much Every flipper leans on is Deep romantic Or Super girly colors...I think this would be a Hit🥰👍
@@debraneria4242 thank you so much for the advice Debra. I appreciate all the feedback and I enjoy all the comments you leave me. Thank you again and take care.
Hey! Although it,s an older video i wanted to say that you did a good job, that was a big job. I appreciate that you mentioned the kind of grit of sandpaper you use, always good to know. I,m not using a a spraygun myself because i mainly do old world finishes but occasionally i like to use an all in one paint which would be a good idea to spray, i,m always wondering what the rule is for thinning paints and primer ,10 % water ? Liked the whitewash stain, looks nice. Greetings from Europe✌️
Thank you for the response and I apologize for my late reply. Thank you for your compliment and when I mix paint with water I usually do like you said a 10 percent and add from there until I like what I see. It’s more so a feel
Looks really good. I'd really like to know what color the green paint was and also did you only use the Howard's feed and wax on the whitewashed piece top piece and not any other poly? kind of interesting was that because you didn't want it to change the color at all?
Thank you very much. The paint color is in the description, it’s called Laurel woods by sherwin Williams. And yes, I only used the Howard’s wax to seal the top because it gives it a bit of a richer look and is easy to maintain by the new owner if they ever want to wax it again oppose to poly.
Wow that’s amazing 😮 question why you sand it in between painting? Just a rookie here trying to learn
Thank you. I sand in between each coat ti create a strong bond and a smoother finish
Do you like Barkeepers Friend better than Brasso? I'm also considering spraying the hardware as I suspect cleaning them takes an incredibly long time. I have two dressers and they're both massive.
I’ve yet to try brasso. I like the polished look much better then painted hardware. The work is worth it in the end
@@CedarPineDesigns Maybe. I have two dressers and they are both absolutely enormous. I spent the better part of three days just polishing a small lamp and my hands are small girly hands! I'll try a few and see how difficult it is. I ordered the BF.
@@blondewriter99 if you can get a small dremel tool, that can make your life so much easier
Awesome job! If you did not use your sprayer but used a paintbrush to paint it, would you use the same grits for scuffing, 220 in-between and 400 finish?
Absolutely. Just be careful when sanding. Light scuffing is fine
@@CedarPineDesigns Thank you so much for your prompt response. Explains why my prime was coming off as I was using 120.
@@aholaway3048 no problem. Yeah, 120 is a removal grit
I am told that the wood is Poplar by a couple people on my Facebook request. I am trying to learn about this and would like your input as to what type of wood you were working with
@@aholaway3048 the top is veneer so I doubt it’s poplar. It’s either cherry, oak or maple
Can please tell me what kind of green paint do you use?
It’s called Laurel woods by sherwin Williams
How good does latex paint work on wood?
I works really well and I don’t see the need to buy chalk paint or the expensive furniture paint. Especially when you use a top coat like wax or polyurethane
I always wonder where everybody's from. I've been told by many many people that I do beautiful work but I could never get my stuff sold. And I could never figure out how to tap into a market to get commissioned pieces. I live in a small community and not anywhere near a large urban area.
I live in California l, more specifically the Bay Area so I’m definitely in one of the most expensive areas in the US and that has a lot to do with why I’m able to make more ten some other furniture flippers. I think it’s all about learning what your market wants and gravitating toward what’s trending in your area. It’s hard to say what will work for everyone but I do know from what I’ve heard is that it’s a bit harder in smaller cities.
My advice to you would be to create an Etsy account and offer shipping through Uship in order to reach a broader client base. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out.
Also, do you have an instagram where I can see some of your work? I love to see what others have to offer. Thank you for commenting.
@@CedarPineDesigns
I don't have Instagram etc. Just was curious. I worked with my sister-in-law during the summers 2014-17 because she had a garage we could work in. That was the learning curve. Trying to find a market to build off of that was really hard.
She up and quit and I haven't had a place to work since. I've also been dealing with medical issues all this time (and getting worse) so I have to be content with small personal projects.
Thank you for the wonderful thought out response. I wish you the best
@@miss_sunshine25 thank you. I wish you the best as well and take care of yourself.
Perhaps find a college student to give you an hour tutorial on marketing, ie. hashtags
I have the same set but my middle hardware has no screw in the back so no idea how to remove it. 😢
That’s weird. I wonder what’s holding it down. I’m sure there are screws somewhere. Any holes in the back
@@CedarPineDesigns No holes. I saw another video where the restorer just pried them off with a screwdriver so that would probably work but I'd be concerned about getting them back on properly.
@@blondewriter99 that’s so weird. I’ve never seen that before
@@CedarPineDesigns I'm just guessing at some point someone decided to glue on some additional hardware for decoration not function.
@@blondewriter99 that’s a very good possibility
What did you sell each piece for? Tough market right now.
I sold the entire set for $1150 plus $50 delivery fee. I was surprised they sold so fast.
@@CedarPineDesigns Wow! That's a grand slam!
@@eddieadams4770 it definitely was. My most profitable project to date
I just want to ask you, are you and That Shabby Guy the same person? If not you sure sound the same and your work is similar also!😀
It’s funny you ask that, I’ve actually been asked that before. We are not the same person. I actually followed him and watched his videos for quite some time so I’m sure I’ve taken some inspiration from his pieces.
@@CedarPineDesigns That is so crazy, he is left handed just like you! Well, they say you have at least one twin in the world, I guess you can say you have!😀 I love your work!!
@@1963nursedebra thank you so much. It is a bit weird the similarities
