The Grizzlies have been excellent when they go small for a while. Now, they have the potential to be excellent when they go big.

Matt Painter had been talking about Edey nonstop for two years. He’s also known for being open and honest maybe to a fault. Is it possible the Grizz didn’t talk to Painter because they’d already heard everything he had to say?

The Grizzlies only had 1 first round pick, so picking him 9th wasn't really to high if they wanted him and didn't think he would be available in the 2nd round. No one in this draft is a can't miss prospect.

I think his short time in basketball will help with his durability.
He was a hockey guy and a baseball player, picked up basketball later. His joints and body, that correspond to basketball, just has less use. Then his joints and body that relate to the other sports he played are strong. We are seeing young guys, like Zaire Williams, who played basketball year round, since the age of 5, they are showing up with arthritis at age 21, which is nuts. But it is logical, the parents obsession with mastering one sport for their child has led to dramatic overuse of certain related body parts.
Durability is an absolutely crucial component of guy that size and I think edeys sport versatility and short time with basketball will bode well for his body.
