The i71 pushes the boundaries for a Sport-Touring model with its new sleek shell design. The Advanced Polycarbonate helmet now has 3 shells throughout the 6 available sizes to help optimize weight and comfort for the rider. The rearranged top vent with enlarged mouth vents allows increased air intake and ventilation. Also new with the i71 are both face shield and sun visor. The HJ-38 Pinlock ready face shield comes with a new PE (Push/Eject) locking system for improved safety, yet still easy to use with gloves. The new sun visor (HJ-V12) provides a new 3-position option for the rider to adjust the sun shield forward (up to 10mm) delivering ideal sun visor protection. The i71 will also accept the second-generation Smart HJC Bluetooth systems.

I have the RPHA 70ST and I have used it for 2 years even though I bought it too small. It is so incredibly painful to think about paying to replace it so soon, but this one looks pretty nice and it's cheaper. Thanks for the overview!

Great lookin helmet and fits perfect compared to my other hjc helmets...2 things tho...inner visor is not anti fog and the with the pinlock inserted the helmet does not latch down properly...

I believe you installed the pinlock insert improperly.
I bought one in Australia yesterday, and it came with a quick release, which was fine I thought until I released it makes hanging it off my bike unsafe/easily stolen/PITA.
Quick release chin straps have their drawbacks.
Hey there! Are these eyewear friendly? I wear prescription glasses and have been having a hard time finding the right helmet that can allow me to wear my glasses for riding.

Hello. I have one question. My measurement is 57cm and I have a more round face.
For example the Icon airflite rubatone LARGE did not fit my head. I could put it on after some work but it was tight.
So should I go for medium or large size for this helmet?
You should try the Large.
Are those white lining on the under side of the cheek pads reflective? Hope they are, like my cheaper Ls2 has highly reflective material in that area
Is this better than the citation/vector ii ... vent and noise? and the sizing is it tighter than ls2's? my hjc is xl while my ls2 is large...
Good questions. 1. Yes that's reflective pipe. 2. Noise is highly subjective, we can't make a call for you there. 3. HJC typically runs true. What LS2 are you taking a Large in?

@@SpeedAddictsTV yeah, I've been using street bike helmets for wanna be hard enduro for years. Why would that be bad?
@@threeheavensmusic Apart from looking like a numpty there are far more suitable helmets if you want a visor i.e. the Scorpion ADX1 or newer ADX2. (which is ECE22.06 approved). The ADX1 is the better lid if you can find it though.
A road bike lid off road significantly reduces your peripheral view which is a pretty important consideration if there are animals or others about.
Most serious off road people don't want a visor helmet though as you will invariably scratch the visor so most will run an MX helmet with goggles.
The difference is the EPS lining. EU model has a thicker EPS lining and weights more because of it. I called HJC America and asked.

Does the i71 have true ECE safety certifications ? I checked the HJC pages for US and Europe, and it says only DOT in US but says ECE 22-06 in the european page, so which is it ??
The us model is dot certified the euro model is ece certified. If you want the ece one you’ll have to buy it from a European website.

If you're looking for a modular helmet a C91 would be a better options, if you'd prefer a full face the i71 is a new model and a better fit

The sun visor is not anti-fog.
we have 2 of them chin straps need to be a little longer each side , other then that no complaints

Im having a hard time deciding on which hjc helmet i want. I like this i71. I dont understand the difference between it and the f70
F = fiber.
The i71 has the polycarbonate shell, while the F70 has the fiberglass composite shell.
Do other coms units fit on those cut outs on the side as well or is it only compatible with the HJC ones?
Yes, you will be able to install other comm speakers in the pockets. The only exception may be the Cardo Packtalk Black as it comes with extra large 44mm speakers. All other units should be an easy install.
@SpeedAddictsTV I was referring to mounting the units on the side of the helmets not so much the speaker cutouts. It seems like the cavities on the sides of the helmets would make mounting the coms unit there difficult.
@@verifiednobody7836 not ideal placement, but defiantly do-able. Both clamp and adhesive mounts will work either in front or behind the integrated comms door. We tested with a Cardo Packtalk Edge and Neo.

Yes, but you'll have to mount the unit up front or behind the integrated comm port.

my head is 62 cm, I tried hjc c70 XXL and it fits me tight!
A XXL in this i71 should would well for you. The C70 fit slightly smaller than average.
I've just bought one in France and I notice my i71 is different than the US version since it's equipped with a micro-buckle... Why is the name model exactly the same, then ?
Sometimes manufacturers take different design choices for how they believe they'll be received in that market.
I believe Europe, other than the UK, receive the micro-buckle. There are plenty of helmets that are exactly the same other than the fastening method, and have the same model name. (However, in the USA and Canada you will find what we get in Europe sometimes do have a different name for the same model even with the same fastening method, etc.) The product number will usually be different between the models when there is a difference. You would expect this if it is destined for the North American market and also DOT approved.

Is it still possible to put an intercom of another brand on it? Or is it intended specifically for HJC? Thanks
Yes, you can install a universal comm unit in front or behind the integrated panel. We'll make a video soon on this as many are asking.
Bought this model half a yr ago. I didn't wanna buy the HJC intercom made for this helmet. Mounted my Cardo FREECOM haven't had any issues with it so far.

@amyvanacker5441 no mounted it on the left side of the helmet right above the panel using double sided tape. As far as the speakers they do still fit in the pockets, you just have to find a way to make the excess wires fit right.

Hey Jamie - We shot the video on the HJC Smart 21 and 50B last week. The video should be up within 24 hours. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it! The two primary differences between the units are Voice Commands / Digital Assistant and Mesh capabilities. The 50B has both and the 21B has neither. Otherwise they are evenly matched (same speakers and audio quality). So if you don't mind using the physical control buttons and you don't need mesh (large riding groups), than the 21B is a killer deal. HJC makes so many models. What one is most like GT Air 2

You can't install it in the compartment, but you can place the unit next to it.
This or i70? Cant see too much of a difference
We say go for the i71, better ventilation, a sleeker style, plus the option to use the newest bluetooth from sena, happy riding!
I found it much more noisy than i70, does anyone have similar experience or its just my impression
Wind noise is very subjective. We recommend a snug fit with a chin curtain installed.

Hjc just shamelessly adding difficulties on mounting other comms on their new gens of helmets. Ngl the new gen looks awesome but I gotta hate those mounting points for their comms
Same bad choice as Shoei which is why I moved away from them
Integrated comms are polarizing. We've seen some designs from Cardo and new partners that are encouraging. The future of integrated comms will be less intrusive.
Exactly. Saw in the comments they were gonna come out with a video to install universal coms on the i71 and I just got mine this morning staring at it and wondering how they’re gonna do that. I’ll be waiting !
