I was in your boot camp info session last week. I am a operations trainer and will be going into an ID role (likely outside my company). I created a training video on equipment inspections in canva. My boss wanted a voice over, but I did not have access as it was more money. She paid for it and for the 1st time I used AI generated voice over. It is pretty cool! I can see why more companies and ID's will be attracted to AI.
Wow, so much useful info! EdTech & ID grad student here. I'm looking forward to using your recommendations for my portfolio. CustomGPT is something to be excited about. Really appreciate you sharing your insights. This helps tremendously. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing the AI videos. I'm REALLY interested in AI and so fascinated by all the ways AI can help people! When AI first came out i thought, ok cool. But you are one that shows me how valuable AI can be.
I'm very interested in becoming an instructional designer, but I don't have a degree. Will I waste my time learning? Will it be possible to land a job opportunity?
Most instructional designers don’t have a master’s degree! I’d say a bachelor’s is much more common, but there are IDs out there without them. I’d say that if you can build the skills and create a strong portfolio, you’ll be in good shape for the job market (degree or not). For context, I’ve seen many stories of IDs with degrees and experience struggle to land roles in the current ID market without a portfolio.

Which video covers how you can showcase your ability to identify and solve performance gaps and demonstrate that in your portfolio?
The “how to design effective eLearning” video would be a great one to start with!
