I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "Make Me Smile", "25 or 6 to 4", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", "Questions 67 & 68", "I'm A Man", "Where Do We Go From Here?", "Free", "Lowdown", "Saturday In The Park", "Make Me Smile", "Colour My World", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "If You Leave Me Now", "Old Days" etc.
Chicago is one of my favorite bands. Grew up with them and I've stayed up all night listening to their music...really, sun was up when I finally went to bed.
It is Peter Cetera on lead vocals. He’s one of the main reasons I got into playing bass. His Tenor is one of a kind. You guarantee will like more than a few of his other tunes he sings lead on with Chicago and when he went solo. “You’re The Inspiration” is probably my fave One of the greatest artists of all time.
I get goosebumps listening to this. It sounds as fresh as it did in 1976. Another great band to react to is STEELY DAN, if you haven't done so already. "BLACK COW", "FM", and "DO IT AGAIN" are good ones to start out with. They sound is a jazz-rock - funk fusion style.
I read Steely Dan, but my mind said Doobie Brothers. I started going through the songs you posted and I said, the Doobies didn't sing FM or Do It Again. Then I realized my mistake and heard myself saying Steely Dan as I reread your whole post. Of course this all happened in under 5 seconds. So weird how your mind can play these tricks on you. Oh, and yes, Steely Dan was as awesome as any other bands of the 70s like Fleetwood Mac, Seals & Crofts, Wings, America, Boston, Journey, Bob Seger and so many others and so on and so on.
I got to see them with EWF about 10 years ago in Kansas City. They were doing a good drive and if you brought 3 cans you would get a card that had ewf doing a Chicago tune and Chicago doing a EWF tune and one they collaborated on. Being from a large family, I brought 3 times as much just cause, it was a helluva concert too. Philip Bailey of EWF singing Chicago's Wishing You Were Here. I stood up and screamed, and damn ner passed out 🥰🤭😏. Memories
Peter Cetera is the one singing here. He also played bass and as you see Guitar as well. Terry Kath (Lead Guitarist) sung on some songs like "Make Me Smile" (Please do this one next) Robert Lamm (Keyboardist) also sung "Beginnings" (Another I'd like y'all to do) And Another Peter Cetera song "Call On Me" Terry Kath passed away in 78. Peter took Chicago to a more softer side ever since. Thanks a God Bless
I love that you get into the depth of the lyrics. Their musicality - with real instruments- is so priceless. I saw them live and it was one of the best concerts of my life. Very emotional, nostalgic, talent filled. They just are so impressive and a part of the soundtrack of my life. Thanks for reacting to this amazing group of musicians.
Chicago is one of those band I remember my mom playing. Never really appreciated it then but totally enjoy it when I got older and in concert “FOR GET ABOUT!!!” 😁😂
I was 10 years old in 77, this song was on the radio all the time. It was a very romantic time in life, alot of music was much about love. So so dang great! That was cool to watch you guys watch and hear that and more importantly feel that! I always say, it sucks getting older, but I would never trade being born in 1967, because I lived through some of the greatest music genre's ever, for real. That was beautiful my friends....
That was Peter Cetera. The first lead singer. He left Chicago in 1985, so all music before then is with him. I wish I could have witnessed him live, but I wasn't born before to years after he left. I saw the "new" Chicago in 2008.
Peter Cetera was the singer on this piece. Terry Kath was the vocal on "Make Me Smile". Please do areaction to "Saturday in the Park". To hear yet another lead vocal by keyboard player Robert Lamm. You won't be sorry.
2 songs "OLD DAYS" lighthearted song about life as kids remember some of the fun things they did. The studio version is excellent as always live version is too. It is a Dick Clark Rock n Eve 1975. Another on the same show is "WISHING YOU WERE HERE" Peter Cetera wrote for Terry Kath. It shows off his beautiful voice, and also includes the The Beach Boys as back up. It creates a dreamy quality. These are also when they incorporated the bongo and more percussion.
I loved this song since it came out! I was in my early teens back then! 😍 I really enjoyed your reaction to it! I can tell you're both are romantic people and it shows! Thanks for sharing! ☘️
I guarantee you guys have heard Peter Cetera songs from the 80’s. He left the group and has a stellar solo career. Even though my heart broke when he left the group. You need to hear Chicago from around 1970-1976
This song From 1976 on Columbia Records was recorded at the old Caribou Ranch Recording Studio in Nederland, Colorado(Peter Cetera wrote the song as well as sang lead on it)
So much great music from Chicago. You might like the jazzy horns in Blood, Sweat and Tears doing 'God Bless the Child', a cover of Billy Holiday's classic.
My favorite band of all time. I won't get into the arguements, for now, that come from fans of this band :P But thanks for checking out Chicago. Singing was Peter Cetera.
They are so talented. To do "25 or 6 to 4" with those big marching band sounds,to such softness as this song. The same singer Peter Cetera who did "25 or 6 to 4 "sings "If you leave me now" and many other soft rock songs with the band and on his own..Please check out Make me smile with the great "Terry Kath" leading the way. I love Chicago.
I have two sets of memories of this song. I remember it being on the radio when I was very very little, and it reminds me of that era. Fast forward to today, and it reminds of the early days of GTA Online driving around with this song on the radio in-game. lol.
On this song Peter Cetera was the lead singer and bassist. Terry Kath was lead singer and guitarist on "Make me Smile", Robert Loghan (sic) was lead singer and keyboards on "Saturday in the Park ". Point is they had 3 phenomenal lead singers and 8 or 9 epic intrementalists
Blood Sweat and Tears were before but just like Chicago. please play God bless the child who got his own by Blood Sweat and Tears. great great song, might be one of your favorites too.
Yes the instrumentation of 70's music was great. All kinds of instruments and experimentation with those very same instruments. Must keep funding up for band and choir.
Chicago!!! So many. This is only one of the "power ballads". "Wishing You Were Here" Terry Kath and Peter Cetera on lead vocals with the fantastic backup vocals by the Beach Boys. That live version from the New Years Eve show sounds just like the studio and you can see them. (New Years Rockin' Eve Chicago )
To keep everybody happy, you'll have to do songs from each era, the Terry Kath and post-Terry Kath eras, as his death is the marker between the two. He didn't play on this one, however. The earlier stuff had Chicago switching up the lead vocals; as others have mentioned there were three lead vocalists in the first era (up to the eleventh album). On their twelfth, "Hot Streets," Peter Cetera sang lead on all but the title track, which Robert Lamm sang.🙂
As others have pointed out the singer on this track was Pete Cetera. For Terry Kath singing try Saturday In The Park or Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
Probably an old video but Peter Cetera has a very unique sound. I remember reading once the reason his tone is so unique is because his jaw was broken and it was wired but they still had a bunch of tour dates on contract so he had to find that way and it changed his tone permanently
this arrangement benefited from an acoustic lead guitar versus electric, to keep the sound sweet and ethereal. the lead vocal is peter cetera who went on to have a successful solo career. this is my favourite chicago song, bringing me back to middle school dances and sweet tween years long ago lol - thanks!
Chicago is by far one of my favorite bands from the era, and they had some amazing love songs. You have to hear them remastered because this video doesn't capture the richness of their sound.
This song is off their tenth album. Though I prefer the earlier music overall, this is one of the ballads of theirs I like. Peter Cetera, the bass player, took the lead here. And yes, the horns are part of the group; the strings were brought in for this song.
Make Me Smile is another one of their early tracks featuring Terry Kath on lead guitar and vocals. I would have picked make me smile over this one..Peace
I love your reaction to this great Chicago tune. I have another great Chicago tune that you might want to react to. It is called "Skinny Boy" off of the album Chicago 7. This song features the incredible debut of The Pointer Sisters. Thanks!
I like to compare them to Earth Wind and Fire. Similar setups. You can here the jazz in there music. Ones rock, the other R&B. Plus they wrote "After the love is gone" for Earth Wind and Fire.
Peter Cetera on vocals and twelve string acoustic guitar 👍
That`s Peter Cetera singing lead. And, love the violins in this. Chicago is definitely a band that is full of instruments. Great music.
Don't forget the shakers, or whatever they're called.
Thanks Kim!
Have you listened to Leonid and Friends....doing Chicago songs?
We called him the Great White hope back in the day, lol
This was Peter Cetera. For Terry Kath try, "Make Me Smile". Soulful.
I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. INDEED! All fantastic songs!!!

Baby What a Big Surprise

Stay the Night
Peter cetera is the lead singer. Elite. “Hard to say I’m sorry “ should be next.
My favorite song of theirs 🙌
Chicago is one of my favorite bands. Grew up with them and I've stayed up all night listening to their music...really, sun was up when I finally went to bed.
Check out Leonid and Friends and thank me later! The best Chicago tribute band on earth live. From Moscow!
It is Peter Cetera on lead vocals. He’s one of the main reasons I got into playing bass. His Tenor is one of a kind. You guarantee will like more than a few of his other tunes he sings lead on with Chicago and when he went solo.
“You’re The Inspiration” is probably my fave
One of the greatest artists of all time.
The smile on her face tells you how good the music is.

I do too. Goosebumps everytime, and I smile on the inside.
Oh my, y’all are digging deep into my childhood and my heart. This song brings back so many memories.
Taking a walk down memory lane listening to this! They were great!
One of the best concerts I went to was Chicago with Earth, Wind, and Fire......SIMPLY AWESOME MUSIC!!!!
Chicago AND Earth Wind and Fire. That's an amazing combo wow! 🤍🤎
I got to see them with EWF about 10 years ago in Kansas City. Chicago had some beautiful hits you’re the inspiration …hard habit to break..love me tomorrow…will you still love me..what kind of a man would I be
I love Chicago!! Probably one of my favorite ever is "You're the Inspiration". Please give it a listen.
Y'all had a helluva line-up of talent tonight!
Chicago is one of those band I remember my mom playing. Never really appreciated it then but totally enjoy it when I got older and in concert “FOR GET ABOUT!!!” 😁😂

I was 10 too!!
my mother played this record so many times and would loose her mind if i stomped on the floor and it skiped😂.
That was Peter Cetera. The first lead singer. He left Chicago in 1985, so all music before then is with him. I wish I could have witnessed him live, but I wasn't born before to years after he left. I saw the "new" Chicago in 2008.
The lead singers name is actually Peter Cetera. Great video guys!
I used to call him Peter "Et" Cetera.😂😂Beautiful singer.❤❤
Peter Cetera was the singer on this piece. Terry Kath was the vocal on "Make Me Smile". Please do areaction to "Saturday in the Park". To hear yet another lead vocal by keyboard player Robert Lamm. You won't be sorry.
“Hard Habit To Break” is my favorite followed by "Will You Still Love Me" and "You're The Inspiration"...love me some Chicago!
Feelin Stronger Every Day is an absolute banger by them.
❤Chicago has always touched my heart. Beautiful melody an awesome voice. ❤
Man. Y'all are dropping bangers today!!♥️🖤
Peter Catera was the lead singer and sung this song
the singer on this song is Pete Cetera.
"poem" is my favorite by Chicago. Pretty much can't go wrong with anything they wrote between '69-'79. Too many great songs to list
Poem 58 is a banger. Shows Terry's guitar skills.
If you want to have your mind blown: Listen to Dialogue parts 1 & 2 by Chicago. Still relevant today sadly
Need to hear more and you will be amazed !!! Baby What ABig Surprise, Love Me Tomorrow, Make Me Smile, Beginnings!!!!!!!
some of the best lyrics in music and one of the best marriages of lyrics and music ever
2 songs "OLD DAYS" lighthearted song about life as kids remember some of the fun things they did. The studio version is excellent as always live version is too. It is a Dick Clark Rock n Eve 1975. You two are a lovely couple - you're a joy to listen to and watch.
Great song…so much feeling ❤️
I loved this song since it came out! I was in my early teens back then! 😍 I really enjoyed your reaction to it! I can tell you're both are romantic people and it shows! Thanks for sharing! ☘️
The horns are part of the band but the strings were added post production.
Peter Cetera has a beautiful voice. He has a song with Amy Grant called,
NEXT TIME I FALL IN LOVE that is a breath.of fresh air.
Lead singer is Pete Cetera
I guarantee you guys have heard Peter Cetera songs from the 80’s. He left the group and has a stellar solo career. Even though my heart broke when he left the group. You need to hear Chicago from around 1970-1976
This song just gets better every time you hear it. Chicago had the best band.
this song introduced me to Chicago...I was 15-16 yo back then....late 70s.
This song From 1976 on Columbia Records was recorded at the old Caribou Ranch Recording Studio in Nederland, Colorado(Peter Cetera wrote the song as well as sang lead on it)
The lead singer, Peter Cetera also wrote it. Great falsetto.
These lyrics are solid gold.
I'm not going to lie the melody is nice and the instrumentals are quite good❗️
So much great music from Chicago. You might like the jazzy horns in Blood, Sweat and Tears doing 'God Bless the Child', a cover of Billy Holiday's classic.
Chicago is great ❤️
yessssss ! I love this song ... specially the video you chose to react. Thanks for this reaction ❤️
My favorite band of all time. I won't get into the arguements, for now, that come from fans of this band :P But thanks for checking out Chicago. Singing was Peter Cetera.

They played 2 songs on the show that night. The other being 'Scrapbook'... you should give that a try... love your reactions.. Peace
One of the most romantic songs of the 70s.
Great singers, great brass sound.
All time classic
This is one of the best white songs of all time. It is near and dear to my heart... I adore this classic. 🤍
Oldie but goldie still awesome
Chicago!!! So many. This is only one of the "power ballads". "Wishing You Were Here" Terry Kath and Peter Cetera on lead vocals with the fantastic backup vocals by the Beach Boys. I like instruments, it puts a deeper level to songs!
Peter Cetera was amazing, sadly he left the group.
As others have pointed out the singer on this track was Pete Cetera. For Terry Kath singing try Saturday In The Park or Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
Look Away….great song please! HUGE BAND of the 70’s…which was the decade of ballads
See I grew up with bill champlin and Jason scheff being in Chicago. And this stuff is just were it is. Lol love em all.
Probably an old video but Peter Cetera has a very unique sound. I remember reading once the reason his tone is so unique is because his jaw was broken and it was wired but they still had a bunch of tour dates on contract so he had to find that way and it changed his tone permanently
Beautiful reaction

In the studio version : Gene Sherry on French Horn.
Love this! ❤❤❤
It’s actually peter cetera the lead singer and Bass player,

Love Chicago! React to Hard to say I'm sorry!
Keep rocking y'all
The voice of Chicago Mr. Peter Cetera wow.

Peter cestera became Chicagos lead vocalist
Listen to the studio version of "Poem 58" from the first album (Chicago Transit Authority) for a completely different Chicago.
I think it was Peter Cetera who sang this.
I love your reaction to this great Chicago tune. I have another great Chicago tune that you might want to react to. It is called "Skinny Boy" off of the album Chicago 7. This song features the incredible debut of The Pointer Sisters. Thanks!
If You Leave Me Now was a hit in 1976. Try Dialogue Parts 1 and 2.
Peter Cetera Glory of Love, karate kid soundtrack.
I had it made,I come from the queen,Elvis,Chicago, Beatles era!
Terry Kath died in 1978. That was Peter Cetera on vocals. Terry was the polar opposite. Much deeper voice.
Should go watch the live version of 25 or 6 to 4 and watch terry kath ( guitarist ) shred the solo
I like to compare them to Earth Wind and Fire. Similar setups. You can here the jazz in there music. Ones rock, the other R&B. Plus they wrote "After the love is gone" for Earth Wind and Fire.
The lead singer of that song is Peter Cetera if I am not mistaking.
Peter Cetera is on lead vocals here
Peter Cetera is the main lead on this and he’s done a lot of great music on his own worth listening to.
GO See THEM LIVE EVERY SONG THEY PLAY LIKE THIS ONE FOR EXAMPLE THEY WOULD SAY THIS TUNE IS FOR LOVER'S ONLY😉💐✌️🌟👍
Peter Ceteria, was the singer.
Cetera was the lead vocals.
Peter Cetera sang lead on this song.
25 or 6 to 4
Love Peter. The direction the band went after Terry died was rough.
