This is one of the many reasons why Assassins creed 3 has the best storyline of the series. Conner goes through hell and back yet maintains his morality.
As much as I hated Charles Lee's guts, I have to admit. That last scene was kinda noble. He knows what has to be done and in his last moments he gives Conner a gentlemen's gesture. He takes a drink, hands it to Conner, gives him a little smirk in his eyes with admiration saying, "You've done good boy, now finish the job." Charles knew what was coming in the end and kind of praised Conner in a respectful way at the end before he died. Charles was still a major douche though.
To me this is the best kill in assassin's creed history. No words spoke between either of them. The look in their eyes pretty much told the story. Haytham's death was great too. But I love this one more.

Oh yeah, I'm half-dead and on my way to execute the man I've been hunting my entire life, I'll just stop to attack a convoy and liberate a fort, no big deal.
Well, Lee drank first before giving it to Connor, to prove that there isn't something in the bottle. If he didn't, then Connor wouldn't have drunk it. But I do agree with your thinking because I thought of that when I first saw this scene
Eric D he would’ve died either way. It could’ve just been a non-fast acting poison, as in it would take a minute or 2 for it to set it. But, I doubt he had the time or will to do it.
the face animations have been done so well in this game. You can see all the emotions, and that makes scenes like the drinking scene here so strong. Words arent even needed, you can read their feelings from their face.
*sigh* connor is the best, there really isnt a contest. and anyone who says his story isnt the best just isnt paying attention. its far superior to ezio and altair, simply because it shows him trying to do the right thing, but only making things worse as it goes along. ezio and altair have practically never tasted failure (ezio's family getting executed is one exception, while connor does almost nothing but fail. his beliefs are constantly questioned and he doesnt know who to trust. none of the other assassins have gone through such a crisis in their lives, but are instead more outwardly appealing. thats why 90% of the fanbase prefers the others, because they didn't bother actually investing themselves into the 'boring' character in the 'worst' game of the franchise.
You're pretty wrong in this. I completely agree with your points about Connor, he joins the Assassin Brotherhood as a means to help save his people, but in reality, his efforts may have only made it worse. It's hard to tell though, because even the British might have wanted to expand westward if they held the colonies. Remember, the Native Americans, other than the Cherokees, all sided with the French in the French and Indian War. So really, Connor might have lose either way. Altair suffered a lot of tragedy though. His father was killed. His wife was killed. His son was killed. His best friend (Malik) was wrongly imprisoned by Abbas and killed. He lost a lot of his men to the Mongols. Really, other than Darim and his knowledge, he lost pretty much everything by the end. Altair, you could actually make the case, lost more than Connor in his life. Ezio lost his father and brothers, but also his Uncle and his first true love, Cristina. You could also make the case that he cared for Yusuf quite a bit before losing him. The reason people don't care for Connor isn't so much his story, which in my opinion was quite good. It's because he had no personality. It's hard to relate to Connor when he seemed to stoic. Personally it doesn't bother me, but when you're used to the energetic and personable Ezio Auditore and Edward Kenway, someone who comes off so monotone is hard to get behind.
Connor does have personality more than you know. Connor, to me, actually feels more like a realistic character. ACIII felt very believable despite its poor mission structure.
***** Well said, my friend. I agree on everything you said except that Connor was a boring character, after Ezio's ladiesman story i think that he was a very refreshing character.
phoenix-force411 And in my opinion, you just hit the nail on the head. I think the reason people didn't like Connor, is not so much the character - though in my opinion I did find his personality stretched to thinly-, it's because of the horrendous missions such as the tunnels, the potential for controller throwing induced by the disgustingly strict optional adjectives, and the extremely boring home-front missions. The list is practically endless for what the game did wrong in regards to it's narrative and what it could have done better. Not to mention the numerous number of glitches. Some minor and some serious. I completed all the brawls yet the database refused to accept it for example. All this puts a player off in dribs and drabs. And before you know it, you take all that frustration out on the character occupying the screen throughout this frustrating en-devour.
Lol you people really can't stop complaining. Move on, Tlou2 didn't kill your family. And if you complain about the ending, you either didn't play the game or just didn't get the point of it, or maybe both. But I don't really care, I have better things to do than complain about something all day, right?
7:36 no words no final confrontation just 2 men on the brink of death enjoying a drink together with the common understanding that only one of them is walking away absolutely beautiful, people sleep on AC3 its personally my favorite they say Connor is a bland character and doesn't really stick with you like Ezio did but thats kinda the point Connor is just really dedicated to killing the templars a man of skill determination and pure fucking will and I respect that.
This is probably the most realistic boss battle lol. In real life if you see an assassin hunting you with a tomahawk, you won't stand to fight, you will haul ass!
4:08 this one exchange between Charles and Connor sums up the entirety of the assassins creed games, it feels. One of the biggest reasons why AC 3 is if not my favorite assassin’s creed game, one of my favorites.
When Connor was an assassin, and he met up with Haytham and George, Haytham pointed out "Tell him what you did 14 years ago", which is approximately the time his village burned.
The only reason why this game was hated was because Ezio wasn't in it. That's not fair. Imagine what sadness must have brought to the people who put so much time creating it.....
you've said it beautifully my friend. Yes, I must admit that Connor had to grow on me. I sort of missed Ezio's boldness, but after a while I began to understand Connor. He's one of the best main characters I have seen in a game. The enviroment was annoying at the beginning, but eventually it became fun and challenging. and the music.... it just blows your mind. I really, really loved AC3. Maybe more than pt2
Actually, it was GW who did that...that seven years war you mentioned...that`s when GW killed Connor`s mom and it happened after Connor was born..pay attention to the game and Connor kills Lee, because he`s a Templar and Connor`s an Assassin. his job is to hunt Templars
I like this better than the book because in the book charles never got shot he just gave up after Haytham died. In the game verson of it charles died like a badass!!!!!!!
True, and he never made up with his father as well. Throughout the game the two were heading towards this emotional reunion to be, well a father and son again. Then it ended up never happening, which is a shame as Haytham's last words in the book Forsaken were that he wished him and Connor could have been more like a proper dad and son.
At 9:32 we can barely read what they are drinking. "Old Overholt Whiskey" This is an actually existing rye whisky, but not established before the 1810's
If you listen to the song playing while he kills Charles Lee (Connor's Life- Song name) it plays the music from all the main events in Connor's life, When he became an Assasin, killed Haytham and killed Charles Lee.
Calvin Duncan If you read Altair's codex it's quite obvious that he was a stonecold atheist at least towards the end of his life. I don't know why you'd say Ezio was a Christian. If religion doesn't direct your life and you never even think about it, I don't think you're religious. A lot of people seem to call themselves Christian and assume that other people are Christian simply because they live in a Christianized culture. Absurd IMO. Anyway, the Assassin creed is incompatible with almost all religions. Assassins are not supposed to be "limited by morality and law", and they're not supposed to accept things on blind faith.
he learns throughout that the Patriots are not to be trusted and that there is a grey area in the conflict. nothing is black and white he previously thought and thus fights the Templars to the end and even shows mercy to Lee by killing him ONLY after Lee nods for it...Altair was humbled by his stupid actions that led to a close end to the order, he soon realizes that the Creed is wisdom and knowledge, it does not raise them above everyone, but rather humbles them as servants of Justice-cont
Charles didn't kill Connor's mother. Haytham revealed that when he revealed that Washington was about to attack the Iroquois "just like he did 15 years ago". But Lee was still a monster and still needed to be killed.
He did no wrong in his first game AT ALL, mistakes make people human, Revenge is not a mistake, it`s an impulse..Ezio had it for 2 sequences and that was it, he went back to his same old persona before his quest...I wanted him to change a bit and mature, but he only matured in the last 15 minutes of the game. Connor and Altair changed numerous times...Altair was humbled and Connor LEARNED -cont
BassKing007 I actually shouted YES when Connor finally shoved that knife into Lee. Because Lee was an evil bastard who deserved to die, it was so satisfying see him bite the dust.

Jacy Machado or if he were a coward
Well, Lee drank first before giving it to Connor, to prove that there isn't something in the bottle. If he didn't, then Connor wouldn't have drunk it. But I do agree with your thinking because I thought of that when I first saw this scene
Jacy Machado... then Charles would've died
Well, Connor would've killed him way before the poison could've taken effect. He's gonna die anyway, why would he worry about a poison?
Eric D he would’ve died either way. It could’ve just been a non-fast acting poison, as in it would take a minute or 2 for it to set it. But, I doubt he had the time or will to do it.
the face animations have been done so well in this game. You can see all the emotions, and that makes scenes like the drinking scene here so strong. Words arent even needed, you can read their feelings from their face.
i like when after charles lee says yet you fight you resist why? then conner says because no one else will
They went all the way into upstate New York while bleeding to visit a tavern.
At least Lee shows his kindness by sharing a drink with Connor
Any time a villain accepts his death and takes it like a man, I immediately respect the hell out of them.
I do not like having my time wasted.
Truth.
*sigh*
connor is the best, there really isnt a contest. and anyone who says his story isnt the best just isnt paying attention. its far superior to ezio and altair, simply because it shows him trying to do the right thing, but only making things worse as it goes along. ezio and altair have practically never tasted failure (ezio's family getting executed is one exception, while connor does almost nothing but fail. his beliefs are constantly questioned and he doesnt know who to trust.
none of the other assassins have gone through such a crisis in their lives, but are instead more outwardly appealing. thats why 90% of the fanbase prefers the others, because they didn't bother actually investing themselves into the 'boring' character in the 'worst' game of the franchise.
"Connor's story is better because he's a shit character! People like the other Assassins just because they're better written!"
Yeah, sure.
Honestly so far I love this death in gaming history, just because how Charles is just like, "You know I'm fucked I'm gonna get drunk."
Charles Lee went from looking like Haytham’s puppy to looking like he drowns puppies
It was very interesting to see the templar's point of view. All of them are correct regarding Connor's idealistic mindset.
At least Connor gets his revenge unlike Ellie who gives up at the end
Right
Ayyyyyyyyy
Lol you people really can't stop complaining. Move on, Tlou2 didn't kill your family. And if you complain about the ending, you either didn't play the game or just didn't get the point of it, or maybe both. But I don't really care, I have better things to do than complain about something all day, right?
Whos ellie?
7:36 no words no final confrontation just 2 men on the brink of death enjoying a drink together with the common understanding that only one of them is walking away absolutely beautiful, people sleep on AC3 its personally my favorite they say Connor is a bland character and doesn't really stick with you like Ezio did but thats kinda the point Connor is just really dedicated to killing the templars a man of skill determination and pure fucking will and I respect that.
Connor's intimidation technique is something straight out of Haytham's book. Like father like son.
This is probably the most realistic boss battle lol. In real life if you see an assassin hunting you with a tomahawk, you won't stand to fight, you will haul ass!
Damn , i didn't notice Connor stared into Charles Lee's eyes when he stabbed him
We need a sequel to this. I want to see more of connors adventures after this
4:08 this one exchange between Charles and Connor sums up the entirety of the assassins creed games, it feels. One of the biggest reasons why AC 3 is if not my favorite assassin’s creed game, one of my favorites.
Top 3 coldest lines in AC History
How did Lee not see that gun
i love how you could actually witness all of his growth as a person
Got to hand it to Connor.
For all of the hate he received, he was nothing if not persistent
Whenever I watch this video, I feel so proud of myself!
R.I.P worthless piece of crap.
HI CONNORRR
No matter what, the dialogue in AC 3 are the best!!!! After Revelations that is
You shot him in the side yes he yields
"LEE, DO YOU YIELD."
SHOT HIM THE SIDE, YES HE YIELD
Anyone notice how all the people are cheering as you're chasing Lee? Awesome.
Music in this game always gives me chills
When Connor was an assassin, and he met up with Haytham and George, Haytham pointed out "Tell him what you did 14 years ago", which is approximately the time his village burned.
The only reason why this game was hated was because Ezio wasn't in it.
That's not fair. Imagine what sadness must have brought to the people who put so much time creating it.....
We imagine this scene as Assassin Jon Snow chasing and finally killing Templar Roose Bolton finally avenging Robb and Catelyn and freeing the north.
And then he would kill Olly.
+WhiteWolfPaula Don't forget Allister Thorne too.
you've said it beautifully my friend.
I love assassins creed
I like this better than the book because in the book charles never got shot he just gave up after Haytham died. In the game verson of it charles died like a badass!!!!!!!
I loved charles lee he was good man but money, power corupted the man
True, and he never made up with his father as well. Throughout the game the two were heading towards this emotional reunion to be, well a father and son again. Then it ended up never happening, which is a shame as Haytham's last words in the book Forsaken were that he wished him and Connor could have been more like a proper dad and son.
If they're such bad ass Templars why the fuck do they run?
Their strength comes from power. The Templars haven't been fighters since Ezio's games.
Pug Life oh ok . thanks
+Pug Life Ceasre and the pope (forgot the name) were man enought to face you.
psgaming101 Craup And they were both in Ezio's games...
Also, Lee is considered a coward or traitor in history.
It wasn't revenge. Lee didn't kill Connor`s mom. It was just plain ol` Assassin-Templar war killing..
At 9:32 we can barely read what they are drinking. "Old Overholt Whiskey" This is an actually existing rye whisky, but not established before the 1810's
Animus glitch.
Maurice Chevallier animus glitch indeed
If you listen to the song playing while he kills Charles Lee (Connor's Life- Song name) it plays the music from all the main events in Connor's life, When he became an Assasin, killed Haytham and killed Charles Lee.
Wouldn't it be interesting if they made a Jewish assassin? I'd like to see that, I'd like to see that a lot.
loooooool
assassins have not a religion silly
Karim Ali Connor is Native = Native Religion...
Karim Ali Altair was Muslim (sorta) and Ezio was Christian (sorta)
The real Charles Lee dies from a fever. Close enough.
did the waitress snort? XD
he learns throughout that the Patriots are not to be trusted and that there is a grey area in the conflict. nothing is black and white he previously thought and thus fights the Templars to the end and even shows mercy to Lee by killing him ONLY after Lee nods for it...Altair was humbled by his stupid actions that led to a close end to the order, he soon realizes that the Creed is wisdom and knowledge, it does not raise them above everyone, but rather humbles them as servants of Justice-cont
9:10 My reaction whenever I get Rick Roll'D.
I do not like having my time wasted
Connor is absolute chad
"Make a sound and you die"
Need somethin', Darling?
Connor Kenway (snort) Rude
Charles didn't kill Connor's mother. Haytham revealed that when he revealed that Washington was about to attack the Iroquois "just like he did 15 years ago". But Lee was still a monster and still needed to be killed.
see the way Connor sat on the chair😂 lol!
What is wrong with you? How is that at all funny?
Ash Fernandes Half of his back like hanging out lol
He did no wrong in his first game AT ALL, mistakes make people human, Revenge is not a mistake, it`s an impulse..Ezio had it for 2 sequences and that was it, he went back to his same old persona before his quest...I wanted him to change a bit and mature, but he only matured in the last 15 minutes of the game. Connor and Altair changed numerous times...Altair was humbled and Connor LEARNED -cont
For some reason I enjoy watching Charles die. Maybe cause of what happened in the forest when Connor was a boy. Never liked Charles.
BassKing007 I actually shouted YES when Connor finally shoved that knife into Lee. Because Lee was an evil bastard who deserved to die, it was so satisfying see him bite the dust.
+BassKing007 Ikr, the weird thing is I liked him when you play as Haytham, he just seemed so genuinely friendly .. But it was all a ruse.
+Yagami Light Desmond also reacted too when haythem is a templar. "Wait What!?"
George washington was the one who burned connor's village down
How is this old game got better voice acting than the last two assassin creed games
Assassin's Creed is a pile of garbage now, it will never be as good as it was back in 2014 and before.
