  • Join the Bad Company Team as they chase the infamous black marlin down under, off the coast of Queensland, Australia on the Viking BC60. They face challenges with weather while learning from locals how to master the art of dead bait fishery but ultimately hook up on some nice action. #letsGO

If you have the opportunity to look up Neville Green, or his relatives, he has photos of a fish that defies imagination. He came into Anglers Center to find a gaff large enough for a fish that they lost at the boat. They couldn’t get the IGFA legal 10” gaff across its back when next to the boat. The IGFA gaff basically made it to the dorsal. I connected him with our engineer who made a custom 24” titanium gaff head for him. When he came back to pick it up he brought his photo album. I was speechless looking through it. The fish’s pectoral fins matched the beam of the 60’ Bertram (iirc) he was fishing from. He estimated the fish well over 2k and likely pushing 3k. Iirc his bait was a 60lb tuna. Love your videos! Tight lints!

Legendary!! It's those captains and wiremen, who spent a major part of their life out on the ocean, who see things that defy imagination and marine biologists etc, love to talk with them because they see things that are rarely if ever seen or thought to exsist!! I have spent 45+ years, commercial fishing in Hawaii were I am born and raised, and as a captain/owner- operator of my own boats, I've seen things, that absolutely defy how big , for instance, Blue marlin and extremely big tiger sharks get. Much larger than what is thought to be max size!! This includes unknown species of bottom fish, and seeing and swimming and filming underwater some of these, as well as marine mamals, like the cuviers beaked whale which was one of the rarest if not the rarest baked whale. I've just been so blessed to have these opportunities and rare sightings and encounters and interactions swimming and underwater filming these over so many years on fishing trips in Hawaii, especially in the most remote and rough water areas of the Big island of Hawaii and throughout the northwestern Hawaiian islands all the way up to midway Island. I had a few marine biologists and marine scientists who I would regularly share my experiences and photographs and cinematography with, to help understand some things about spawning and migration patterns of pelagic fish and marine mamals and sharks etc. They just don't get out on the ocean often enough or especially access remote and isolated areas in the ocean like commercial fisherman do like I have. It's amazing to see these rare things on the ocean, and as a professional photographer and cinematographer who specializes in underwater work, I have documentation and photos to back it up, which really helps understanding the mysterious things that happen in special places in our vast seas!!!
I've been privileged and blessed to have seen incredible things over so many years spent at sea!!
      Aloha from beautiful Hawaii
      D.L.

Looks like a "Clark spoon"!? I remember using small Clark spoons way back in the mid 70's to catch aku/skipjack tuna for live bait fishing for blue marlin and big ahi in kona Hawaii where I live and grew up born and raised in the Hawaiian islands. Many of my friends, both captains and deck hands in kona would go to Australia/ Cairns to the GB , to experience Giant black marlin fishing with rigged dead bait. Lots of kona wiremen went there to experience it and pulling leader on big , green black marlin!!! Are they still using wire leader and for instance in the 70's + wearing thick welding gloves to wrap the wire leader? I have used wire in kona and in particular for big gorilla ahi, using live aku and the difference from using mono is amazing because wire doesn't stretch so the feel of the fish and control when double wrapping big marlin and huge gorilla ahi is really awesome!! Honestly,,when I first started using wire it was scary and very intimidating, as you >[9⁹❤ to learn how to manipulate the wire and "kink" it then purposely break it off to rease a fish or if you get stuck and can't dump it!!!! It's amazing to watch world class wiremen wrap up and get yanked all over the cockpit b6 those huge, giant black marlin on the GB in Australia!!! Guy's are incredible and very brave! I've done it a bit, but it's unnerving because of how dangerous itbcan be especially on a giant green marlin.
Thx again Guy's some world famous people and actors, were big time marlin fishing guys!! I used to sit @ the bar at the famous kona in next to some of them when I was 16-18 years old snf listen to them tell stories!!!! Kona and the GB were where they fished a lot most every year!!!!
Just awesome!! Your following them continuing the tradition!!!!
    Aloha and respect!😮

Elon has come through! Crazy how that is changing the entire yachting industry when it comes to internet connectivity for a 1/4 of the price or less. It’s great to work, cruise and have fun now!
