      I only go with Ford because of my height, I'm 6'3. To my knowledge, Ford has the best ergonomics. I can even fit in the subcompact cars by Ford, Chevy I cannot.

      Still fairly gentle by Australian standards of testing. Their question is not "can it withstand this? "but "at what point will it break?" They would want to know, to make it even stronger

    Fords been doing a really good job since about 2011, around when the ecoboost drivetrains launched. I test drove a 2012 F150 and silverado, and I really enjoyed the ecoboost. The silverado was nice because I was used to driving suburbans but I thought I'd try something different. The only complaint I have is that the wheels seize to the hubs because they are aluminum, but I could easily change that by buying steel wheels

    The best part about car videos on UA-cam is the commenters defending and bashing brands like a clingy girlfriend talking about her ex.
    Also, not digging that trucks get taller and blunter noses each passing generation. That cannot be good for aerodynamics.

      Amazing the changes you see over the last 50 years on these. My dad and I recently restored a 65 1/2 ton 4x4 with the straight axles and drum brakes, and I know it's like comparing apples and oranges, but it's literally a tank vs. a buckboard wagon lol. Used to be built simply for work and now its a hybrid luxury car/truck. Take the 65 through this and the driver would probably have internal bleeding before the truck shakes its self apart.

    • @timlin4894
      @timlin4894 9 років тому

      The insurance on it will be more because it's aluminum and only very few body shops are actually certified to work on aluminum bodies. Plus Ford's body doesn't rust but its the frame and the leaf springs that rust.

    • @adamleblanc7563
      @adamleblanc7563 9 років тому +1

      Keine Namen If they put steel bolts through said aluminum body it will cause the aluminum to corrode severely, plus aluminum has a tendency to crack as well as welds crack and break over time from constant movement and body flex. Plus if anything is chaffing against the aluminum at all it wears through very easily. Run into these problems with Tractor-trailers constantly.

    Oh the 2015 Ford F-150 is so damn sexy and so are its bigger brothers but ive always had a soft spot for dodges and im starting to come around to chevy and GMC just here recently since obama saved that ass but my biggest problem with GM is EVERYBODY and their grandma has one and they all basically look the same.... Its like they come off the assembly line with a cheap lift and mass produced rims and tires... Dont get me wrong GM makes a nice truck BUT they all kinda look the same when the dealership adds that extra flair. Fords and dodges look clean as a mother fucker just comming off the assembly line and so do GM's but it just seems like to me when they end up at the dealer ship they all end up looking pretty the same

    • @kylebullard4780
      @kylebullard4780 10 років тому

      Tries to add that extra flair by buying a cheap lift and a set of rims. What i mean by that is they all have the same exact lift height and the same basic rim style. I know ford and dodge does the same i guess i just dont notice as much.

    No doubt that F150's are well made and well tested, I have a 2004 F150 with well over 200K on the original engine and trans and runs like a champ, however, it isn't the drive-train that falls apart, it's the electrical and body starts to rust, hopefully the aluminium body will hold up longer, only time will tell.

      I buy trucks to be trucks. I don't care how they drive as trucks are for work. Most people think this way which is why Ford trucks outsells everyone. This is the main reason Ford didnt take a bailout. As far as bankruptcy goes the Chrysler Corp lost there fight years ago and Chevy paid there bailout back with interest. I don't know where you are getting you're facts.

      Not bashing any brand, all of them have their good and bad, but the reason why Ford out sells is because of their fleet sales and those numbers are added in. Take those away and I would doubt that they would be #1

      ***** Gorideyurbike Dogurasu walwalka F-150 has always had the toughest frame above all else. They're the best work truck you can buy, which is what most trucks boil down to - "What can the frame handle?" Any truck can be luxurious and offer alot of tech. Price & incentives alone aren't going to sell twice the amount that GM sells, but the price factor is fairly important and helps some buyers lean towards Ford i'm sure....why would they buy a silverado or whatever the fuck, when the F-150 is a more well-rounded vehicle that has a more well-engineered driveline & costs less on top of that? Also in my opinion GM has the best advertising out of the big 3 anyway, seems like they're constantly pushing new ads on a weekly basis and they're pretty clever about it too. Except for the fact that their products aren't as good as Mopar or Ford and they blatantly lie about fuel economy. With rear gearing anywhere close to one another, there's no way a 6.2 pushrod is going to see better fuel economy than a 6.2 SOHC or a 5.0 F-150, unless you shut off cylinders in the chevy. Its valve actuation isn't nearly as accurate at any rpm as an OHC engine, and there is far more friction in the valvetrain.

    Ford makes tough truck powertrains, durable frames, and good ergonomics. Now, interior quality is absolute shit from past experience all Ford "leather" seats will begin to tear at 30,000 miles. Trim pieces will start to fall off at about 50,000 miles and bad design/engineering flaws will begin to show soon after. I.E. Explorer, rear glass hatch cracks on all vehicles. Bad weather stripping on all Fords. Interior paint on trim and buttons peeling. Melting cruise control buttons I.e. Ranger & explorer sport. Exterior trim pieces fading, cracking etc. But I digress I'm willing to give Ford a second chance and will damn sure buy this truck in one of its many forms.

      I don't know where you get your info but I still have my dads 73 F100 with over 500 k on it and the only problem other than normal wear and tear is rust at the bottoms of the doors. That's normal for anything made of steel 41 years ago. I also have recently talked to the people who bought my 91 & 00 F 150s both with over 200k on them and they are still running well. I drove the crap out of my 91 hauling heavy equipment and tractor trailer parts including complete Fuller & Spicer transmissions and SQHD & SSHD front & rear tandem rear ends and complete rear ends including axles & drums attached. I hauled tracks for drag lines and complete Cat, Cummins & Detroit diesel engines. I rarely had less than a ton in the bed for over 100 k. I never did anything but regular service & one ser of brake pads & shoes.
      My 89 Chev Silverado stayed in the shop with electrical problems & front end issues. My 87 & 92 Dodges has trans problems constantly. Even my 91 Dodge D250 with a Cummins had trans problems and rattled like an empty tin can. Load it down like my Ford F 150 gas model and the Dodge would be in the shop the same or next day. If you don't have a lot of experience with these trucks you don't have any idea what you are saying so keep your mouth shut until you have a couple million miles driving every make there is under extreme loads & circumstances.

      Dude your comparing breaking parts in a diesel, which is extremely catastrophic, to breaking parts in a gasoline engine. Of course the repair is going to be expensive. Breaking a rocker arm is completely different than breaking a lifter. Also shame on you for driving the truck 50 miles with a broken rocker arm. And? Ford engines get over 300k easy as well. With regular maintenance, just about any engine will last for at least several 100,000 miles

    I am thinking about getting the 2015 or 2016 with the 2.7L, I am not impressed by the flexy frame on 6:16minutes, ford should also follow dodges 5 link rear suspension, I hate axle hop, I am curious what the offroad package will come with? please, no 20in rims! I am also considering the Ram, although I love the aluminium body and under 5000. lbs...

    • @406Steven
      @406Steven 9 років тому

      +adsabine1 I agree on the frame flex! Ford has long touted the frame strength of the F-150 compared to the competition but that looked excessive to me! Dodge's suspension still has axle tramp on rough roads, I've driven my Dad's '14 Ram down some washboard dirt roads and the back end still tries to come out but they have definitely improved it over traditional leaf springs. Big rims are not for trucks, in my opinion. They just get scuffed up or bent from lack of sidewall to cushion them from impact. The aluminum body is nice, but the Rams still get similar fuel economy. It's a hard choice between a Ram and a Ford but, frankly, I think you can get a nicer Ram for less money. The Hemi has plenty of power and will do 22 MPG highway at 75 MPH, tows really well, and is a proven reliable engine. I don't buy into the diesel craze but the EcoDiesel does even better on fuel than an EcoBoost...

      I use my '06 Ranger as a truck (not just a commuter like most truck customers) and, with 163k on the clock, it still runs and drives like new and doesn't give me any trouble. The abuse I put my trucks through and how well Fords have held up for me over the years are why I continue to buy them. Dodges have also done well for me, but you obviously clicked on this video just to come tell the world how much of a hater you are. Congratulations, 6+ billion people can now see what an idiot you are!

      +Diesel 6.0 Unfortunately it's not safe to assume anything at all. And an 06 Ford what? What engine? I could give you major problems with every 2006 Ford that occurs within the first 60k of every vehicle. I'm a Ford Certified tech and worked at Gator Ford in Tampa, FL for years. You did not go 300K miles on a truck or car made in 2006 by Ford Motor company with simple routine maintenance. If it was a truck, you have either neglected to replace suspension parts that usually go every 60k-100k, or you are flat out lying. You would have had expensive maintenance on the ignition, replacing coils way too often. The 5.4s were so notorious for spitting out spark plugs for no apparent reason but was fixed before the 2006 year. I'm taking your name into account, if you have a 6.0L Powerstroke, I know you are full of shit. Not 1 of those powerstrokes have made it past 100k without needing a rebuild. EGR coolers and Oil coolers were such a huge problem in EVERY SINGLE ONE. The EGR coolers were notorious for leaking and getting coolant inside the engine compartment that would then blow the head gasket. The oil coolers would often fail due to lack of filtering the engine oil and then it would overheat the turbo and blow them, most times sending components of the compressor into the engine. There have since been changes to the parts that allow the engines to go much further than the original parts, but not 1 of those motors made it past 100k without having major issues, especially if you used it for work and towed with them.

    • @VexingCode
      @VexingCode 9 років тому +1

      Ford did not build the 6.0 PowerStroke Engine. Yes it did have a design flaw, that the engines needed to be "BulletProofed", but it wasn't Ford's fault.... I'd assume a Ford Tech would know that. The 4.6 V8 had the spark plug issue, mostly because backyard mechanics used the WRONG sparkplugs recommended it for it. I've owned 4 different Ford vehicles since I was 15.
